Tincknells serves customers across Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset, Avon and south Gloucestershire. It’s already a well-known name in the South West, with a great reputation for integrity and customer service. Company director Rob Ormond and heating services manager Richard Beck both emphasise that Tincknells is a ‘modest’ company, concerned more with providing a good service than making a fuss about it. But its recent win could change all that.

Tincknell Heating Services is one wing of the long-established fuel business, Tincknell Fuels. ‘It’s a win for the industry,’ said Rob Ormond. ‘The fuel industry, which we’re part of, doesn’t always get the best press, but this is a really positive step.’

Our engineer arrrived on time and completed the servicing of the boiler swiftly and competently. Ours is a good old Trianco boiler that “experts” say should be replaced with a combi one. All of our engineers know better!

A Nightmare Experience: Tinknells' Appalling Treatment and Negligence with our Stanley Boiler/Cooker

I want to express my deep disappointment and disgust with the way Tinknells has treated us. Following the engineer's visit, during which they fitted a new jet and bled the system, we immediately noticed a strong smell of kerosene. The engineer returned and claimed it was more likely to be carbon monoxide. We took matters into our own hands and discovered a leaking hose. We endured multiple visits from different engineers attempting to fix various problems, including the persistent leaks. This continued throughout the Christmas period, while we were subjected to a nauseating smell of kerosene that permeated our home. We lost count of the numerous times we had to contact Tinknells, yet we received no apology from the company, despite their engineers being responsible for the initial problem. Their lack of care and consideration towards us has left us feeling deeply let down. The situation persisted for approximately two months until an environmental consultant finally arrived and discovered that the leak had spread beneath the lino and into the skirting. Only then did the process of extracting the smell and replacing the damaged areas begin. We endured a total of 18 working days of disruptions due to engineers and environmental consultants visiting our property, while we spent 3 months living in an environment tainted by a horrific smell. We feel compelled to warn others about the appalling experience we endured with Tinknells. No customer should have to go through this.

I have used Tincknell's to service my boiler for the last 50 years and never had cause for doubt about the quality of the work. Our current engineer is very friendly and leaves the work area clean. This was a routine service with no unexpected costs. If something goes wrong and a repair is needed, I know Tincknell's will do their utmost to fix it promptly. In short, I am happy to recommend this company.

Tincknell Heating, with whom I have a 'Breakdown Plan', have carried out services and repairs on my boiler and central heating for many years to the highest of standards. In early May I had a problem which I reported. An engineer arrived the same day, inspected the system, diagnosed the problem and identified the need for a replacement actuator. The following day another engineer arrived, fitted the part and inspected the system which then revealed a quite separate issue that required a replacement pump that was ordered immediately from the supplier. Although it took several days to arrive at Tincknells this was not an inconvenience and on 9th May an engineer and then an electrician attended, fitted the new part and ensured our system was working faultlessly. Once again Tincknell Heating engineers, electricians and clerical staff demonstrated that, at all levels, they are thoroughly professional, efficient and reliable and that they are totally committed to customer care and speed of action. In short they are a credit to a company that provides such a reliable service – this I find to be so reassuring in an age where such reliability is often in short supply. I have no hesitation therefore in recommending this company to others who may have similar requirements.

I ordered heating oil from CERTAS on the 14th December 2022 with a deliver before 3rd January. No sign of the oil by the 9th January so I cancelled the order and phoned Tincknell midday on the 9th January. The oil was in my tank by 9:30 am the following day. Thanks you for such excellent service.

Installation of new combi boiler

We had a great experience with Tincknells. Work was carried out promptly and within agreed timescale. We required a combi boiler to replace an old heating system. An engineer took time to do a site visit and discuss the options so we were able to decide what best suited us. After the installation the engineer took the time to explain the controls and recommended how to get the best out of the system. Great job efficiently done.

From us contacting Tincknells to quote for a replacement boiler to the actual installation it was customer service at its best. Something we have grown not to expect! The quote pack was detailed and comprehensive, the communication with the installation manager to agree dates etc. prompt and clear. The plan was itemised with timings and names of the people I should expect and when....and they did just that. The on-site engineers were respectful of being in our home and very professional - not to mention personable! I am hopeful the boiler will live up to the installation.

We had a fault with our boiler and called for urgent help. 24 hrs later we were up and running again, with the problem diagnosed and new components fitted. Andy the engineer was most helpful and very thorough in checking the usual components for problems and carried the necessary parts in his van. A first-class service.

Oil Boiler and AGA Servicing

I have used Tinknell Fuels to service my Grant oil boiler and oil burning AGA stove for about 19 years. On a couple of occasions I used other companies and so can make a clear judgement on the service provided by all. Tinknell engineers are experienced, very thorough and always do a very good job. Each appliance is broken down into many parts, cleaned thoroughly and if needed parts are replaced with a clear explanation of the reasons for doing so. You really get the impression that they have a thorough knowledge of the equipment and they readily share what they are doing and why, and provide clear advice on what is necessary to prolong the appliance’s life. In addition they leave the appliance and the area in which they have worked spotlessly clean. I cannot say the same for other engineers I have had to service my appliances. They are slip shod, do the minimum work necessary and are off before you know it. Tinknell’s are not cheap. Currently (2022) a boiler and AGA together cost about £350 incl VAT. However, for this you are assured of a very good service and thereafter an appliance that will function reliably until the next service. If something is not right and it has happened only once with an AGA burner, the engineer will return and fix it at no extra cost, as long as the problem is related to the service. Tinknells are a 5 star organisation and two of their many engineers, Andy Simpson and Mike Morgan, are a credit to their profession.
