I have used Ken and his team a couple of times now and have been really pleased with the work and the service both times. The torrential rain last week caused a blockage in the guttering and Amastic responded and sorted it out really fast which I really appreciated. I’m happy to recommend their service - many thanks Ken

We couldn't be more pleased with the work Amastic did for us on the back of our house. They helped to transform our dining room, patio and entrance to the garden by putting in new bi-fold doors, Velux windows, and laying York Stone. They took care of every part of the build, including new guttering, waste pipes, relocating the radiator, and re-tiling inside, as well as fitting the doors and windows. From the start of the process, when they helped us to turn sketchy ideas into something practicable and affordable, through to the final touches, when they took care to ensure that everything was just right, they were brilliant at communicating with us and finding the right solutions. We have two young children, and they ensured at all times that the working environment was safe - as well as being great with the kids! They are a genuine family firm and this really makes a difference. The work was of the highest standard, completed to budget, and it still looks fabulous several months later.

Amastic reduced a leaky chimney for us in early 2020. We’re in a 5 story Victorian House and safety was their top priority, especially for people below. We asked them back to deal with a different leak in a second chimney in 2021. At the same time an inspection of our third chimney revealed perilously loose brickwork which they also dealt with, so that all three are now structurally sound and keeping the rain out. Throughout these works Amastic were considerate and courteous and keen to consult before dealing with issues identified. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

We needed to have half of our roof replaced and the other half repaired. Ken responded promptly and provided a fair quote for the job. We agreed that, once his team was up on the roof, they might discover other things which needed to be done and that these should be separately quoted for- there was no pressure to have these ‘extras’ done and the price quoted was fair. We are very pleased with the job that Ken and his team did. They took an obvious pride in their work and were concerned to make sure it was done to a high standard and to our satisfaction. Two things stand out - first, unlike many builders, their communication was excellent and we were never in the situation of wondering whether they were going to turn up on a particular day or not. Second, they cleaned up after themselves very well.

I have used this firm for 3 projects. I like to do work in manageable slices and Amastic Are always amenable. I first used them for a small roofing job and some asphalting. During the project a wall fell down unconnected with their work. They were able to step in and rebuild the wall at short notice and to a high standard. Since then I have asked them to replace and insulate a bathroom roof with associated electrics and to decorate or kitchen with quite extensive joinery. I have more projects planned for next year and hope to use them again. They are a traditional family firm pleasant to have in ones home. Their quotes are competitive and they have always come in to schedule and on budget. As ever with work on old houses there were some problems. They always dealt with these promptly and effectively. It’s their ability to do this which gives me confidence. I have recommended them to others without hesitation

Had a couple of problems with a loose skylight and a blocked drain pipe. They were quick to respond, very helpful, friendly and did the jobs as required. They were also masked and conscious of social distancing. Very happy to recommend.

Decision without Inspection - Unprofessional
I assumed that because it had full 5 Star Reviews that Amastic would be the ideal firm to fix my flat roof leak following a huge downpour on 02 July. But I soon learned that that was not the case. I contacted them by text on the day of the leak and asked them to come and have a look. I said I’d send photos separately. They asked for the photos. I emailed them 2 photographs of the flat zinc roof taken from my loft office window, explained what happened and asked them to come and have a look. They then sent a quotation for £6,336 for replacing the zinc roof with asphalt, without having inspected the problem. I wrote back saying I found their response disappointing and that I was surprised that they felt able to submit a quote for a new roof before coming to investigate the actual leak problem. I would have thought that an organisation that is a 5 Star Which Trusted Trader would be sufficiently professional to do a site visit before deciding on the solution. They wrote back a long email arguing against my position. Apart from making a decision without surveying the site which I as a retired architect found completely unprofessional and unacceptable, their proposed new asphalt roof was also ill-considered in my opinion. My experience is that Asphalt is a problem roof covering which cracks very easily and continually needs repairing. It is also entirely inappropriate given the rising temperatures. I decided not to waste any more time with them and contacted another 5-star roofer, who came and assessed the problem, did a temporary repair and then one month later did an excellent job. I awarded them 5 stars. Amastic’s unprofessional behavior, on the other hand, has prompted me to write a review to alert other future customers. Basically I would never recommend them.

Oh Dear Sour Grapes! This is the email that was sent on the on the 4th of July 2020. To Mr Murray. Hi John, You have told us this roof is 37 years old. As the zinc roof is of this age and, you have had problems that you have tried to repair unsuccessfully yourself. And now more have appeared. We feel that any repairs would not last, and not cost effective due to the age of the roof. The costings we have given you for work ,are from the photos and the information you have given us. And, should be considered a firm quote until site visit has been carried out. All quotes are subject to a site visit, and as our estimator is self-isolating due to health issues, we have given you some idea of what this will cost. Plus we would need a site visit to confirm price. In these severely difficult times, we do try to provide as much information to our clients and potential clients. To be as informative and helpful as we can. Also, we would not be prepared to do a repair on a 37 year old flat roof, that we are not prepared to guarantee. After you yourself advised us that you yourself have carried out a repair in the past that has not worked. Please email back to confirm receipt. Thanks, Kind Regards, Marilyn A R & B S Ltd., We never received a reply to the email. Until the above was posted on the 18.08.20. Perhaps the above did not realize about covid19 ?? And self isolation!! Plus bearing in mind we have never carried out any work for Mr Murray, What have we actually done wrong?

Recently, three family members of Amastic replaced our home roof lead flashing, some broken roof tiles, roofing felt and pointing. This was completed to a high standard, in a professional manner, explaining exactly all the work being undertaken. Arriving on time and tidying the area when finished ... many thanks to Ken, Kenny and Tony - great guys! Would definitely recommend Amastic Roofing & Building Services.

Did some repointing at the back of our house. Started the work before quoting and then sent us an invoice for £3,000 for a job that I still for the life of me cannot understand how it cost so much. Invoice had no detail on it, and I requested more info to understand the costs. Every time I sent a message it was ignored, and instead was just constantly sent aggressive emails telling me to pay or else. At one point they threatened a CCJ on me to affect my credit rating! Eventually I just paid to stop them harassing us, and they had also done the job so didn't want them out of pocket, but was an incredibly high price for the job, and the number of days (and people) they said it took is very different from what the people who let them in had noted.

The property is multiple occupancy with a spokesperson for the property. Who authorised both the original works and the additional work, we understood that she had advised other owners of the works needed and the cost. Because of the above we have changed out terms and conditions to protect ourselves from this situation happening again. Now not only the spokesperson signs the t and c, but all occupants. After repeated attempts at contacting certain flat owners, [not all] when final payment for all 3 invoices were due, we were repeatedly ignored, or fobbed off. And payment not made. If we had not pursued to get our money, would we have been paid at all? Noting t & C state full payment on completion. We advised [not threatened] that if the amount owing was not paid in full. We would have no other option but to seek legal advice as there was still a lot of money owing and work complete. The invoice was £2,500.00. + vat. 4 days for two men. £1500.00. 2 days for one man £400.00. Fuel £55.26. Ulez £48.00. Materials £180.00. 4 days running costs, Yard/Office rent, Company/employers/liability ins. Van payment/ins/tax. Accountant £316.74 = £2,500.00. + vat. We did not harass we just asked to be paid! If no one answers your phone calls or emails then you try again. That is not harassment, or being rude or aggressive - That is trying to get paid for the work you have done! Were a small business and if we don’t get paid on completion, our cash flow then does not exist! And neither do we!

At the time of quoting, there were good suggestions based on many years of experience and valid observations of optional work which would improve the roof. Communication from the office was accurate and prompt. The work was done on the dates that had been booked, working around the needs of a small busy yard and warehouse. They were all helpful and professional. The work was done to a very high standard, much better than a smaller job we had done by another company some while earlier. Thoroughly recommendable.
