We moved into a new house and knew we needed various plumbing bits but after being there a couple of days the boiler stopped working (on a Sunday of course!). We called Ace on the Sunday and they came out the next day. We’re very helpful, fixed the boiler and also checked out all of our other plumbing things we wanted doing and supplied us with a quote within 24 hours. Within a week everything has been completed including a broken toilet flush, broken taps, boiler condensate pipes and a new thermostat. Ace came out very quickly, quoted clearly for everything we asked for and sent quotes via email within 24 hours. They also send email updates of bookings and phone calls before the plumber arrives which is very helpful. Invoices are clear and easy to pay through their online system. They charged us less than quoted when things took less time than expected. The guys who came were all friendly, helpful and gave useful advice on jobseekers thought needed doing but that doesn’t need doing now. Very pleased with the service we’ve had, thanks!

I can't thank this Ace team enough. Our heating system developed an intermittent problem which was difficult to solve. That week we were in sub zero temperatures and the boiler is in a cold garage. They came with a smile each day and tried their best to solve the mystery. Finally there was no option but to replace the boiler. My husband is unwell and Nicola, in the office, made sure someone was with us as a matter or urgency. Everyone worked as a team and showed care above the line of duty. My ancient boiler finally died and a friend recommended Ace Energy and I was very glad she did. An appointment was quickly arranged and the two fitters were on time and very friendly and helpful. They worked quietly and professionally and did an excellent job leaving no mess and taking all the rubbish away. I am very happy with the service I received and can highly recommend them.

I never leave reviews but I feel so let down by these plumbers I didn't want anyone else to have the same experience. They recommended replacing 3 radiators as one didn't work and one the bleed key had broken off and one was too small for the room. In the process of the work (£1000 job) they also broke the boiler but did (after saying they would not), take responsibility for replacing it as they were given a replacement by Worcester. The new boiler is smaller so now all the pipe work is exposed and they said they didn't have time to do the pipework properly to fit inside the boiler base panel. Re the radiators, the one that didn't work still doesn't even with the new one in place. They said I have to replace pipework or put unblocking fluid in the system - they then said it was a separate plumbing job and they didn't have time to do it. I had another plumber in to help and he was shocked that they didn't finish the work to make the radiator work, also they did not tell me the other radiator could have simply had a replacement bleed valve - costing £4 retail rather than replacing the whole radiator!! When they refilled they didn't bleed the system properly so all my radiators had to be bled and rebalanced. They said another one had broken in the process - which again, just needed a tool to open the bleed valve and let the air out. I was left with two radiators not working at all and the two that were installed successfully, not bled and cold. Such appalling service.

An Ace engineer came to my house to inspect my boiler and did no actual work, staying less than half an hour. When setting up the visit by phone I was not told of any charges for this visit. Days later I was sent an invoice for £126. When I complained that no cost had been mentioned or agreed upon, this was lowered to £90. I refused to pay and was threatened with the 'collections department' and informed than my credit rating would be affected. So I paid the £90. Following that, I went through 'Which? Trusted Traders' and then the Ombudsman, who decided in my favour. My money was eventually returned to me. This is an honest review and I believe this company should be avoided.

We thank you for your review, it's always good to remind and reassure consumers that as Ace Energy is a member of Which? Trusted Traders then all our customers are protected. In all the time we have been a member of Which? we have only received this one complaint. Although yours is not so much a complaint but more an unwillingness to pay your bills for the professional service that you received. Neither Which? nor the ombudsmen upheld your complaint or as you put it ‘found in your favour’ You requested that a qualified gas engineer attend an emergency appointment at your property on the afternoon of New Year’s Eve with a report that you had no heating. The fact that after he diagnosed the problem and explained this to you at great length, you then decided to fix it yourself does not make the service free and we are all surprised that you ever thought this would be. Had there been any wrongdoings on our part then Which? would have removed our status as a Trusted Trader. As it is, we continue to fly the flag. We gave you a refund as a gesture of goodwill, we sincerely hope your current circumstances improve soon and wish you well for the future.

Leaking pipes in a Grade I listed apartment

I live in a Grade I listed apartment - 6 apartments within the house. You can imagine the myriad of pipes/boilers etc. In my apartment The pressure in the hot water tap kept falling until there were air locks and no water. Ace Energy started at the top in the header tanks, found my pipes and found the problem - a leak in the basement under a wood block floor. The leaks ( there were several ) were repaired and they worked with the flooring chap to coordinate work so I had the minimum of disruption and shortest time without water. The floor was relaid and they phoned up after a few days to check all was well - it was! The team work cleanly, clearing up as they go, are polite and where possible the same team work on this house. Several people in this house now use Ace Energy as they know the layout and pipes - in fact we recommend them to our neighbours so they do a lot of work in this crescent. We first used Ace Energy when the header tanks needed to be replaced and we were so pleased we have used them as first call ever since.
