I have once gain used DBL Plumbing & Heating for the annual Boiler Service and Landlords Gas Safety check on gas fire and boiler and gas cooker and as used them previously they were their normal polite, efficient, friendly and on time service and I would not hesitate in making them my first port of contact for any plumbing and heating work I needed to be carried out and have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone else.

Arranged for boiler to be serviced on the 15th October 2019 between 10.00-11.00 am by 16.00hrs he had not turned up. Phoned Daniel (DBL) and he said he had forgotten and rearranged the service for 17th October which I confirmed to him by e-mail. In December 2018 he fitted a new motorised valve (the old valve had stuck in hot water only mode) and by late October 2019 I was having trouble with the heating/hot water (similar problems I had the previous December). Daniel came out and said he had fixed the fault but two days later the fault returned. I e-mailed him to inform him the fault had returned and I suggested that the motorised valve could be faulty. When he turned up for the 3rd time I asked if the fault could be the valve he had fitted in December 2018 but he was convinced that it was not and in an annoyed voice said that he had checked this. I left him to fix the problem and when he left he said everything was in order and he had fixed the fault. Next day we had heating but no hot water again. I went to switch the immersion on to heat the water only to find that the power had been turned off at the supply in the loft – this being near the valve. It would appear that Daniel had turned the power off and forgot to turn it on again. Since I no longer had any confidence in Daniel I went to another heating engineer to look at the problem. It turned out to be a faulty motorised valve which the engineer replaced and since which we have had no further problems. As there was still about 7 weeks left on the guarantee for the motorised valve fitted in December 2108 I e-mailed Daniel for a full refund or the original repair invoice as he seemed unable to fix the problem but on reply was received. I then sent another e-mail high priority but to date no acknowledgement has been received. I had checked DBL Plumbing’s references before asking him to call and therefore do wonder if the references were genuine.

Daniel came to replace our shower, which had broken. He was reliable, on time and did a great job. It turned out to be much more complicated than he had expected and he had to make several trips for parts but he didn’t charge us more than his original quotation. He was also very tidy, clearing up after himself. We are very happy with his fitting of the new shower.

Daniel replaced three radiators and fitted a new boiler. He did a great job! Completed to time, all working as it should, very tidy job, polite, and went the extra mile by pointing out a slightly damaged side panel and voluntarily going out to get a replacement one. Would definitely recommend.

Failed to turn up
I spoke to a gentleman on the company's business mobile number and explained I wanted a quote for the installation of two radiators. He offered to call in the following Tuesday when I would be home, and I had to remind him to take note of my address and phone number, since he hadn't asked for them. Following this there was no further communication. I waited in all day. When I called the business landline number later that afternoon to find out if they were on their way, the gentleman I spoke to knew nothing about the visit and made the excuse that perhaps they (the staff out in the van) had the wrong address. If that had been the case they could have phoned me. His disinterest and half-hearted offer to try to contact them to see if they wanted to call in sometime, served only to reinforce my feeling that they hadn't wanted the job in the first place, and I politely declined his offer.
