Had previously used Elcombe for 2 stoves at old house and had received good service. However, on the most recent occasion, received very poor service. Ordered stove and fitting 7 months prior to the date needed. On the date of fitting, 3 fitters turned up, dropped a stove off and then left saying that other trades (new extension being completed but area of stove ok to be fitted) were in the way, so said they would come back next day (had two days booked to fit - unsure why 2 days were booked anyway for a freestanding stove?). Turned up the next day, fitted hearth (not particularly well), cap in ceiling space and then left saying that they would be back in 2 weeks to fit the stove. Another 2 cancellations by Elcombe later and we decided to dispense with their service and employ another stove fitter to finish the job. Numerous phone calls to Steve to try to get a resolution and not once did he actually come out to see that the issue was. Would not use Elcombe again and actually had another stove (in another room) fitted by the person who rectified the 'work' carried out by Elcombe....

I deeply regret you are disappointed by our attempts to install your stove last December and repeat my apologies for the inconvenience caused. Despite our many efforts to find dates to carry out the work, your review does not acknowledge the circumstances which resulted in the issues you raise (you also raise a new issue about the hearth; please do let me know how I can resolve this for you). When we arrived to install your stove, hearth and a new flue system, a large team of builders was struggling to fit a large window unit. We were unable to begin work on that day. On our return, we discovered that your builders had not formed the flue opening as agreed. This meant that we did not carry out all the work we had planned for that day either. December is our busiest month. I arranged for a team to work at a weekend. 4 days before, the installer injured his hand. I immediately rang you and arranged an alternative weekend date. On that Sunday morning, I woke to find a message from the lead installer to say he was at A&E with his young child. I immediately contacted you and committed to find a further date asap. You let me know you had found another installer who could complete the work. I agreed to terminate your contract with us so you could get the work done quickly. I was unaware you wished me to make a site visit to discuss the scheduling problems. To try to make amends, we have waived our labour charges for our 2 truncated visits and for the flue components used.

My wood burner, over 20 years installed both door glasses cracked and needed re glazing. In spite of lots of wd40 and much heaving I couldn't free the screws. Dropped it off last spring and they did a great job of replacing the old screws and re glazing. I've only just needed to light the stove and find the fire burned quite fiercely. It looked like a rope seal between the doors had been forgotten. Took the door and some photos down this morning and they sorted out some rope seal and little tube of the glue, and even cut the rope to length. Easy to fit and its solved the problem. VERY helpful and friendly people there, many thanks!

I bought my stove from Elcombe Stoves 2 years ago, the stoves has been magnificent. had a problem with the door outer glass, went back to them for help and they have gone far beyond what most stores would have done.
