Elite Roofing Services (Jacob) came to see the roofing job in early June 2017; he agreed he’d do the work in August, and gave me a verbal quote all of which I accepted. I didn’t receive any paperwork and emailed him about this. He said he’d posted it out. I asked if he would send it by email but nothing arrived. June, July and August came and went and I heard nothing further from him. Early September he emailed, apologising for the delay, saying he’d got behind with his work and that he’d do the work at the end of September. I sympathised as I knew the weather hadn’t been great and accepted the job being re-scheduled. I asked again about the paperwork. He said he’d get onto it straight away, but again nothing arrived. Since then I’ve not heard anything further from him, and I don’t think there is any point in me trying to contact him again because I know I will just be fobbed off again. It’s obvious he’s not now going to come and do the work. But what I don’t understand is why he didn’t just tell me this instead of ‘stringing’ me along for the last 4 months, valuable time in which I could have looked for someone else to do the work. I feel very let down and have lost all trust in this individual and his company. It’s not the standard of practice I’d expect from a company that is vetted and approved by Which?TrustedTrader.
