I spoke to Kevin a couple of times. He was going to do a couple of jobs at a house I was hoping to sell. He quickly visited the house and made a note of the jobs and came back to me with a price within a couple of weeks. We agreed the price and he contacted the trades and was due to start work yesterday. He asked if I could pay 60% of the job up front. I thought this strange as there were very little material costs to buy, but agreed and asked for an invoice. He sent an invoice with no details and no VAT number - I asked if he could make an invoice with the VAT number - he then sent me someone else's invoice. In the meantime he had pulled the guys off the job as I had not paid the £1200. My colleague was already at the house to meet them. He sent me another estimate (not invoice) that evening with the VAT number on - still no details so I asked if he didn't mind I would write my own invoice and forward to him and pay the money (my accounts department do not accept incorrect invoices). His reply was 'I have had enough please get someone else to do the work'! You pay your money and you make your choice ... very disappointing from what sounds like a good builder - only letting himself down with poor customer services and a lack of admin ability.

I obtained GHD's contact details from the Which website. My parents needed a new bathroom at short notice. Kevin was very knowledgeable about adaptations to suit their age (grab rails, shower seat, higher toilet and non slip floor). He attended to measure up for an estimate the next day, and emailed the estimate the following day. The work commenced promptly the next week as requested, and they remained on site, working full days until the job was finished. My parents additional requests were accommodated with an itemised invoice setting out the increased cost. A wet room was not possible given the construction of the floor, this was fully explained at an early stage, and an alternative shower cubicle installed. Kevin was sent a list of minor items to finish (they were awaiting the shower seat in any event and I imagine would have finished off at that stage). They were completed in full on the day promised. All rubbish was cleared away. The entire job has been finished within 2 weeks of my initial phone call, in time for my parents moving in, which we all very much appreciated.

Owner very friendly, talked me through what was needed. Work started on date agreed, lads were respectful and as tidy as they could be. Work completed early to high standard. All in all I’m very happy with service and workmanship, would highly recommend.
