We used Hackworthy & Sons for our move last November as they appeared professional and trustworthy. We received a number of quotes, and although Hackworthy were more costly than three others, we wanted to ensure our belongings were carefully handled. However, our experience was very poor, right through from the lack of communication and planning, but worst of all, the lack of care they showed for our furniture and other effects. First we had to keep phoning to check when the packers were arriving, then on the removals day they didn't arrive until well after 9am, and we ended up running nearly 3 hours late leaving our previous home. In the rush, it transpired that a lot of our furniture, sofas and other upholstered items, got put into a lorry with dirty plant pots, and weren't protected sufficiently for the journey. Next, the removals team didn't know where they were going, so we had to give them our new postcode. We had assumed that they would have been briefed on the situation at the other end, but this was not the case. The move was very stressful, and once the team had left we started to realise the extent of the damage. We are still unpacking and seeing more damaged items even now. Luckily we took out optional insurance and were able to make a claim for some items. But it hasn't covered the excessive damage and the time and stress it has and is causing us, trying to 'make good' as best we can, all our picture frames, furniture chips and scratches etc. Very disappointed

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It is always disappointing to hear that a customer was not happy with the service provided and we always take the time to review if things could have been done better. I acknowledge that the crew were late leaving the property on the second day of the move and understand that this would have been stressful for both you and the new owners my apologies for this. I have however reviewed our tracking information and can see the crew arrived by 9 am. Also, my apologies for the damage caused during the removal. Our claims rates are very low, and your removal appears to be the exception - although I understand this doesn't provide you with any comfort. However, I would note that our insurance cover is provided within the removal price and not charged as an optional addition. This is because when customers experience damage steps can be taken quickly to ensure they receive compensation. Our crews are always briefed before the move and are provided with a jobsheet which details all the information for the job. However, it is not unusual for the driver to discuss the removal and delivery location with the customer especially if it is in a rural setting. If you had contacted us during the removal, we could have allayed your fears. I'm sorry to hear that you were not happy and am grateful for your feedback.
