I used Capital Heating & Bathrooms for a makeover of our bathroom. This involved re-tiling the bathroom, fixing a cracked ceiling, installing a new shower, heated towel rail and extractor fan and replacing the taps and wastes on the bath and basin. This company had the best review record of any local company in Which Local and so I was keen to get a quote and be able to consider it. However it took a long time before I got a quote and involved a lot of chasing. Renato seemed to have a lot on his plate. Renato submitted the lowest of the quotes and as it also had the best reviews I decided to use it. We had to wait nearly two months before the work started. The work was completed quickly. At the end of each day Renato and his colleagues left the bathroom tidy and took up all the dust sheets, leaving our house as clean as was practicable in the circumstances. They were consiencious, particularly with the tiling where we had specified a rather odd pattern for the tiles. The following caveats apply to the quality: - The new wastes were not tested after they were installed. When we tried them after Renato had completed the work they both leaked. Fortunately the problem with the bath waste was a missing washer which, whilst it took sometime to sort out with the manufacturer, was easy to remedy. If it had reqiured changing the waste it would have been a major job as Renato had completed the tiling round the bath and re-fitted and released the bath panel. The problem with the basin waste did require a new waste to be fitted but I was able to do this work myself. So whilst the problems with the wastes were not Renato's fault, that he didn't check that they worked after he fitted them could have created a costly problem. - The final day's work seemed rushed. Literally he was climbing on the garage roof to fix the extractor grill at 5:30 as he was leaving, with his van packed. The final day's work had included re-fitting fixtures such as the mirror and that these aren't level and the mirror backing was damaged suggests he was in a hurry. - I'm still cleaning grouting off the tile surfaces. The tile colour may have made it difficult to see but I suspect it would have been easier to clean the tiles at the time as now it's hard work. Overall we are very pleased with the job and we should have been checking on progress - that wastes worked, etc - as the job went along.
