Lothian Domestics is a growing family run business, established in 2015 to provide domestic appliance repair services across Edinburgh and The Lothians. We believe customer service is the cornerstone of any business and we aim for complete customer satisfaction. We have a fully transparent approach to pricing, which means we do not have any hidden charges or fees and all of our costs are explained clearly when you book a call.

For your peace of mind, our appliance engineers are all fully trained and insured for all work they carry out. Our engineers all have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to appliances and also carry a well stocked selection of parts in their van and this is why the vast majority of our jobs are completed on the first visit, resulting in a quicker turnaround for you. Every one of our appliance engineers are police vetted and carry company identification with them at all times.

The fridge side of my elderly American-style fridge-freezer was malfunctioning. The cause of the problem was identified, dealt with efficiently, and (more importantly) was shown to me, with an explanation of how the problem might have arisen. This means that I now have a better understanding of the workings and might be able to head off similar problems in future. All done in a pleasant and friendly manner. The company have a clear and simple approach to pricing and a website which is easy to operate.

It's hard to know where to start with this company - the customer service was appalling, the engineer damaged my brand new, very expensive, fridge freezer, the work he carried out didn't even repair the fault and after making a complaint, the owner of the company blamed me for the damage and refused to arrange for a repair!

Thank you for your review, however what you have described here is simply not how things happened. We attended on behalf of your manufacturer, due to Covid we asked you to empty the fridge and your immediate response was "No". On that call you advised removing the shelves can easily cause damage, you again reiterated this to the engineer, talking about the "white parts" getting damaged. The engineer took photos before he started work and noted damage to one of the "white parts" you had mentioned, this was before he even touched anything. After the engineer left, you complained he had damaged the appliance and the photos you provided showed 2 items, firstly the exact mark the engineer noted and secondly a photo that shows the shelf sitting at a strange angle you have moved it to. We do not move the shelf to that position to remove it so the most likely cause of damage is you moving the shelf to check/take the photo. I advised we did not cause either part of the damage and we would not accept any liability for it. To be clear, none of the parts are easily damaged if you know how to remove them and our engineer has worked on many of these appliances and not once caused any damage. You advised the repair has not worked and I advised you simply needed to contact the manufacturer, there was nothing we could do through our complaints process and it would only cause unnecessary delays. I believe both myself and my staff handled this entire interaction professionally throughout.

Faults with Samsung washing machine were diagnosed and new parts fitted at the scheduled visit. Liam, the engineer, adhered to Covid 29 precautionary procedures. He was most courteous and helpful.

Samsung guarantee call after a power cut affected our fridge/freezer. Excellent text communications. The engineer was prompt and very pleasant. Turned out that our fridge/freezer had restarted with a different mode setting after the power cut!

I had no idea how attached I was to the washing machine until mine gave a couple of bangs, whined apologetically, and failed to spin. Then it refused to open, couldn't finish the wash, couldn't drain... Now elderly, my Bosch Classixx 1000 was my first washing machine, picked for reliability, and it's never failed before. I had no idea what to do - this was an emergency! I googled, picked the first person who looked vaguely reliable, and booked an appointment. I'm so glad I did. Lothian Domestics proved reliable, friendly, and utterly trustworthy. I thought they'd be good when I read the clear, comprehensive Covid safety guidelines for me and their own staff: I was thankful for their reminder text and e-mail, and impressed when they arrived exactly - to the minute - when they said they would. The first engineer swiftly diagnosed the issue and explained my options, the quote arrived that evening, and parts arrived with the second engineer days later. In ten minutes, my washing machine was fixed - and the engineer carefully explained how best to keep it happy for the next twenty years, too. These two engineers were the first people I'd had in my flat since March 2020, but I couldn't have asked for safer, swifter, or kinder professionals. I'm so impressed with Lothian Domestics. I've carefully bookmarked their webpage and noted their telephone number, and I would absolutely recommend them to you, too.

After being overcharged & left with an incomplete job by another company we found Lothian Domestics on the Which Trusted Trader website - wish we’d done that in the first place. Their response was prompt & clear. On the first visit the faults with our electric cooker were diagnosed & the system for payment was clearly explained. Thereafter, the work required was costed; we agreed to go ahead & paid; and were given a date just 1 week later for the work to be done. Now the job is done & we are fully satisfied. The technicians were excellent - efficient, courteous & a pleasure to have in the house. A very professional & honest company which I can recommend to anyone.

The company really stood out in a positive way for me because of the good customer reviews, easy to use booking system & clear charges information on their website. They fitted a replacement cooker good control panel, which I had already purchased, and their communication throughout the booking process has been excellent. They kept me fully updated on when the engineer was going to arrive and the repair was carried out without any issue. A brilliant job. Would highly recommend this company.

Very easy to book. Good confirmation system that kept me informed and gave clear instructions about Covid-related precautions. The engineer arrived on time, quickly diagnosed the fault and was able to fit a new oven element to fix it.

Excellent service
Engineer Jamie replaced a door on a Samsung freezer - it had arrived damaged. He was polite, efficient, and had the job done in short order. Also cleaned up afterward. Great work. Based on this experience I would highly recommend Lothian Domestics.

This company was so easy to contact online. Query answered within an hour. Booking easy. All straight forward. The knowledgeable engineer who found the fault on my appliance. Parts ordered. Next visit parts installed but there was still a problem. Third visit 2 engineers came and they fixed the appliance. The problem was the spare part was wired differently and manufacture did not advise that. Engineers were amazing. Would use the company again and recommend them.
