Mark & the team and MK Builders carried out large extensions & major structural changes to our property. The team worked through all weathers to complete a quality job that we are very pleased with. Will be recommending to our friends & family.

We contracted MK Builders in 2015 to complete a kitchen extension & conversion of an outbuilding to a utility room. Once work commenced we experienced issues with communication, rubbish clearance & suffered damage to our property. We experienced poor workmanship throughout with smaller issues such as guttering for example. The main issues however were with a poor tiling job in the kitchen & the installation of a floating floor with movement which then couldn’t be tiled over in the utility room. We tried to negotiate with Mark to no avail to fix & complete the works. We tried to terminate the contract & use the remaining money owed to pay for someone else to finish the work; MK Builders disagreed with this course of action. We were left with no option other than to engage the Ombudsman, who ruled in our favour. Mark initially disagreed with the Ombudsman & would not abide by their final decision, or the timescales within it (for example having all works contracted out to a third party of their choice within 28 days so they could control costs). Three months after the decision was issued we paid for the works & issued a “letter before action” in order for MK Builders to pay the costs we incurred as outlined in the Ombudsman decision. We had asked for MK to pay for the works prior to sending the court letter however they disagreed with the costs involved. We have now received our completion certificate for the works & can finally draw a line under this unfortunate experience.

They have completed the works at our house to a very high standard and I only hope they will come back again and help us with the other projects we have planned!
