Nightmare - a proper investigation could have solved the problem 10 weeks ago.
From 29/6/16 readings seemed really low so reported on 8/7 that my energy production seemed to have collapsed. An electrician was sent on 11th, checked the voltages but said nothing. I chased James later that week and he said "Voltage OK so inverter’s gone and oh, it’s out of warranty". A repair quote from SMA was as much as a new one. Trusting James, I sent a complaint to the board of SMA as 5yrs8mnths life was unacceptable. In mid Aug a retrospective warranty extension was offered for £163. After getting a statement from James it was the fault, I paid and a same model replacement was sent. James went away for 2 weeks meaning the change wasn't done til 7/9. All day sunshine still produced 50% of expected prod’n suggesting a string was out of operation. I was told the electrician was away for 2 weeks. I rang 12 times over 21st/22nd & on Thu@20:30 was told someone could come 14-1600 on Fri. They came@9:15 and went up to the roof and found a pigeon had damaged a connector. Friday produced the most energy since 28/6, the day before the problem started. I've lost £200 FiT payments since mid-July and paid £163 out unnecessarily. I asked for a quote for meshing bearing in mind above. He said he normally charges £650 and has offered £250 off. An alternative quote I have is £450 so asked James to give detail of work. Silence. I used to trust James@Paarl. Watch out!
