Read the previous review from Alison, I'm going to almost mirror that sentiment. The sales patter draws you in: smooth talkers, good designs, but that all stops when they have your money and they have that before they even begin to fit. All work is subcontracted out, with no project management. The contractors mainly come and go as they please, with no notification of not being there for the next day, or week as it could well be. The design looks great on paper, but be aware that is probably won't fit as in our case, measurements were wrong. Added to that is some of it won't even be available, so they 'make' it, and believe me, I can make items with more finesse. We ended up with bits of wood put in to fill gaps, mastic to cover fittings to keep the worktop level and a wine rack more suitable to the junior school 'I've made this' display. There is no craftsmanship, though I can guarantee you will feel you have paid for it. Their idea of putting it right is to send out the MD, who fits in the same box as the sales people, it all sounds good, but that's about it. Customer service is zero and that's on a good day. They will quote you three weeks, well if three weeks extends from April to October, then yes, ours took three weeks. I cannot advise you enough not to use Palmers, if you do, I think like us you will wish you hadn't, particularly when you look at what you get for what you have paid out. You will not be happy and they will not care, it is as simple as that.

We had a 13-unit, 5-appliance kitchen with an estimated 3-week installation. It took 13 weeks in total, during 7 of which we had no cooking facilities. There was a catalog of errors: the kitchen was measured incorrectly so it wouldn’t fit the space; tradesmen fitted it incorrectly so the oven wouldn’t fit between the worktops; the worktops themselves were 21mm too low for the hob. Each subcontractor passed the buck with things they didn’t know how to finish to the next person to put right. We had the MD of the company tell us it was ‘normal’ for an oven to sit this high above the worktop and ‘impossible to fix’. After a lot of stress we eventually got this put right. We had tradesmen trying to overcharge us and harass us for money for ‘cash jobs’, when we thought we’d purchased a professional installation service. The installation team were frankly useless and apathetic. The majority of the project management was done by ourselves, despite paying Palmers for a hassle-free, one-stop installation. Days went by with no contact, not knowing if anyone was going to turn up. After it was finally finished we had no contact from Palmers. We contacted them weekly, 3 weeks managed to find out the MD had been ignoring us. We finally got the skip off the drive that had been there for 4 months, though they’d forgotten about it. 2 months later and we’re still waiting on paperwork we requested. You can tell a lot about a company by how they handle a situation when things go wrong.

Disappointing experience at the end for what is a lovely kitchen

The kitchen itself is great, but the customer service from Palmers has been extremely disappointing. The crew who took the kitchen out did an awful job of plastering the walls ready for the new kitchen - not smooth at all and even a big hole left in the wall in one place. Palmers offered to get the same crew back again to fix it but made no accommodation to fit around me (having already had to have several half days off work to accommodate the kitchen fitting). But what was most disappointing was that when I formally complained about how they had handled the poor work some six weeks ago I am still waiting for a formal response to my complaint. Palmers have a great sales team, but their follow up customer service has been appalling - once you've spent your tens of thousands of pounds they're not interested. Very poor.

Fitted new shower room (previous bathroom). Excellent designer, kind & helpful, really listened to us about needing shower as I am disabled. Built in seat looks fantastic not like a disabled room at all. Fitter excellent quality fittings, brilliant tiling, all round superb job. Thank you Palmers, you should be proud of your team.

We had a kitchen designed and installed by Palmers. The designer was very helpful in coming up with a design that we liked, and working around various adjustments and changes that we wanted to make as we went along. The installation was arranged to fit around our builder's timescales. The installation was good, the fitter was very professional and friendly. There were a number of errors with the products installed (e.g. metal drawer interiors, instead of the wooden ones that were ordered). However Palmers arranged for replacements, and completed all the outstanding work in subsequent visits, with no additional cost. This did cause some delay in finally completing the kitchen, but the fitter was very helpful in making some additional final fixes that were required, e.g. Refitting the kickboards over the flooring. Overall, would recommend Palmers. So far the kitchen has been great, very happy with the overall look and the interior mechanisms etc.

I want to say how good Palmers are for fitted kitchens and bathrooms. We had a kitchen in April, and being so pleased, had them back for the bathroom en-suite and downstairs cloakroom/toilet. They provide one stop shopping with lots of choice and talented fitters/tradesmen. They keep the job as clean as they can, and are attentive to access to facilities so you are not without for long. Once again, thanks to all the team involved.
