The First Element

I got Gary's details from the Worcester Bosch website for recommended OFTEC approved oil heating installers. He was very helpful and knowledgeable on the phone and reliably visited to quote for new oil heating system and interface to old electric heat pump system. Time estimate of seven full days plus materials at cost was accurate and he always turned up on time and worked a full day. Not quite so good at planning materials orders and minimising these costs. He did a quality plumbing job with the oil tank, pipeline, oil boiler and water pipe interface to existing system with minimum disruption. He needed a builder for tank concrete slab and fire protection boards plus electrician for system wiring. Only criticism was his poor cost and time control of the builder. New system worked perfectly first time and one hundred percent since and easy to switch back to old heat pumps. Gary organised Worcester boiler warranty and OFTEC installation certificate. Great job done.

I found Gary Durn and The First Element via the Worcester Bosch approved engineers, as we were having serious problems trying to get our heating and hot water system going. Being LPG as well adds to the complexity as to who can come over and I'd been really struggling to get anyone to come out from my normal engineer who services our boiler annually to Worcester Bosch themselves. Everyone was too busy. On Thursday (the system had been playing up since the previous Saturday), Gary was so kind on the phone (despite me being new to him), helping with advice and how to get things going reassuring me about what I was doing etc. However, I was unable to get the entire system up and running and left a rather early morning (anxious!) text on the Friday. We agreed a phone call at 8am. At 8:02am the door bell rang. Gary was there in person. It was incredible and he spent the next 3 hours helping me get the system going again. He was calm, knowledgeable, and an excellent heating engineer. Qualified on all forms of gas, LPG and oil I wouldn't hesitate in recommending him. He clearly cares for his customers and makes time for them when he can. Old school customer care at its best and we look forward to working with him in the future.
