We used Harborne Sash Windows to replace the original lovely old wooden windows in our 1920s Edwardian style house. It was a big decision for us but at no time did we feel pressured by the team at Harborne. Their guiding principle throughout the whole process was to make sure that we would be pleased and delighted by the finished result if we were to go ahead - which we most certainly were. However many questions and concerns we had, nothing was ever too much trouble. In the end we went for modern UVPC but visiting friends have consistently found it difficult to tell whether or not our new windows are wood or plastic! The guys who did the fitting for us were outstanding arriving early and finishing late every day to ensure that the whole job was completed on time. They insisted on clearing and tidying every day to minimise the inevitable disruption. After the job was completed we had a couple of snagging issues which were quickly attended to without question. We have lived in our house for over 25 years and during that time have had many firms carrying out work for us. Without doubt, the whole team at HSW has been the most obliging & professional, knowledgeable & skilful. We had quotes from other firms (some cheaper) but have not regretted for a moment opting for Harborne Sash Windows.

Work started on their given date and completed on time and on budget. I honestly couldn’t find any fault in any aspect of the contract. The quality of the door and windows are first class and the fitting team were just brilliant. They approached every problem, of which there are invariably a few in early Victorian houses, with unfailing humour and no little skill. Nothing was a problem for them and at the end of their day the moved our furniture back into position and left the house clean and tidy. These windows aren’t cheap but in my opinion are great value for money and look superb on the house.

Fantastic end result, but poor project management & resulting hassle did not meet expectations of premium price tag

Harborne Sash fitted bifold aluminium doors with building work to remove existing concrete pillar and install a steel lintel. We did not have a good experience. There was an ongoing lack of communication. We paid 50% deposit on 2nd October 2017 and had no further communication until December 20th and then only because I chased them up. Timescales for the work were not given in good time, so I was unable to organise other traders to complete decoration. I had to do it myself which I hadn't planned. A request for the next 40% staged payment arrived before I had a start date for the work. I was not informed of their difficulties in sourcing a builder and had only 2 working days notice of the work starting in mid-Feb. The company were then unable to source a plasterer to make good the internal decoration as agreed. In the end I had to ask and pay for a family member to do the work. Several snagging issues after fitting, but to be fair they did sort these out entirely to my satisfaction in the end. It just took a long time and several attempts to get it right. External decoration (included in the quote) took an age to sort (due in part to bad weather). The project finally completed in June, 8 months after we'd paid first deposit, rather than the projected 8-10 weeks. To be fair, they did have the good grace not to request the final 10% payment. End result is excellent, but not sure the frustration and hassle to get there was worth it.
