About

Widowed mum of 3, Deborah Merx, founded the business in 2010 after experiencing a really unprofessional House Clearance herself.

She believed that there had to be a better, more caring and far more professional way to deal with what can often be a very emotional experience.

In 2015 Deborah’s son Alex Merx took over the day to day running of the company although Deborah is still involved in the marketing, accounts and quality compliance side of the business.

1000+ house and flat clearances later and the company are still very much a family concern who truly believe that the customer comes first.

I had the hard job of having to clear my parents family home of over forty years, I didn’t want a “ Man & a Van “ job, I wanted someone to reuse and give life to any of the good furniture etc. I looked online but there was only one company that stood out to me, Deborah’s House Clearance ticked all the boxes for me. I rang Alex for a quote met the next day and I knew this was the company for me before I had even received my quote, polite friendly empathetic to my needs, only waited a week for a date, the men that arrived to do the job were just the icing on the cake, first class equally as respectful of my situation and they my a very hard thing for me to do a lot nicer. I will be recommending them to everyone. Thanks so much to the whole team.

Charming, cheerful, organised - and my goodness did they work! Leo and Josh were a pleasure to have in my mother's home at this difficult time. They packed everything away quickly, thoughtfully and intelligently, politely asking if I should keep items of sentimental value which I'd missed or which may be useful to the next tenants. Hoovering at the end of the job was an absolute bonus. Huge thanks to you both. I have passed on the company's name to the letting agents. PS a small point: a txt or email the day before would have been re-assuring with so much going on.

I contacted this company because it was a Which recommended trader and had excellent reviews. We needed the house which had been lived in for over 60 years, cleared of bulky items of furniture, most of the contents of the loft and the garden shed contents and it dismantled. Theirs was the most competitive quote I was given (of 3 firms) and I liked the fact that they would carefully sort and recycle as much as was possible. The work was done very quickly and efficiently on the day and the team were lovely. Not only was it clear - it was hoovered as well! I have been very impressed with this company in every aspect throughout the whole process which was a difficult one for me - it being my childhood home. I would have no hesitation in recommending this firm to anyone in future - they were excellent.

I cannot praise the guys who sorted out my house enough. As I have mobility issues I had been unable to clear out excess "stuff" and what I wanted to keep was in the wrong place. In a courteous and friendly manner, working like Trojans and with gentle suggestions of, "do you really need to keep that if you haven't used it for years!", they gave me my home back again with the remainder of stuff easily accessible and I really wish I had contacted them earlier rather than tried to struggle on. They are experts at what they do and worth every penny of their very competitive quote.

Had to clear my mum's flat at short notice. Found Deborah's House Clearance read reviews and gave them a call they came out took look then sent me a quote I accepted there quote as is was fare for what needed to be cleared. On the day of clearance the guy's turned up on time and got stuck into the Jon they were very polite and went through everything in case I had missed anything that was important to me. The guy's worked very hard and were sympathetic to my situation. I would recommend them to anyone.

Needed to empty a family home of over 50 years of everything bar the personal items. We had no idea who to turn to. Decided to just google it and Deborah Services just jumped out and also their connection with Which? was good. It was easy to contact, the visit was organised within a few days, quoted on the same day, they offered a reduction, gratefully accepted and booked them for a week later. They communicated well, arrived on time and were very professional, left the place clean and tidy. No issue at all in a difficult time for the family, also Covid compliant. Well done. Would use them again.

Struggled to get a quote
I'm not entirely sure what went wrong here, but I was trying to get a quote and I thought I had arranged an appointment for today but nobody arrived. When I phoned, they thought it was for the following day. I'd tried to be clear what was needed in the email correspondence but also sensed that the correspondence hadn't been read properly. I therefore felt that the firm wasn't sufficiently on the ball, on the admin side, so didn't proceed any further. I have now decided to do my move another way, using a different, more local clearance firm. Hopefully other customers experiences will be better and Deborah's Clearance will live up to their marketing, but it didn't really work for me on this occasion. Such a shame, as they looked reasonable, when I first encountered the website...

Alex Merx and the staff at Deborah's House Clearance carried out an excellent job for us. Very pleased with communication, politeness and efficiency, from initial contact to job completion. They cleared all furniture and floor coverings from a 2 bed bungalow, plus many heavy and dirty items from garden area. All rooms were left in a good clean condition and work was started and completed on time. My wife and I are very, very pleased with this company.

From the minute I contacted Deborah’s House Clearance I was treated with exemplary customer service. This was a very sensitive time as myself & my Siblings were grieving the loss of our Father. From the start, Alex (Director) was professional, understanding & explained fully the service that he could provide. The house/garage was cleared beyond expectations, they cleared everything (not just what they could sell) & left the property clean & tidy. All this for a competitive price. I can’t thank Alex & his team enough for the service that they provided & would have no trouble using them again.

Amazing. After having a new kitchen fitted, the belongings of my daughter and her partners flat and various other bits that I can only call rubbish in my garage for well over 3 years, I had neither the enthusiasm or inclination to dispose of it all myself. Online I found Deborah's House Clearance and very good reviews, and they take Everything. Unlike some other firms that will only take what they are able to sell. I bit the bullet and phoned them. Due to Covid I had to take photos and email them, this wasn't a problem. The response was quick and a date made for removal for 2 weeks later. The 2 young men arrived punctually at 9am, they were courteous and helpful and left my garage clean and tidy. I would definitely use this company again and recommend to anyone that needs clearance work done.
