Unlike us read the many poor reviews before booking this company and find a better plumbing supplier. VHL were booked by our tenent living in my wife’s flat (as we moved in together some years ago) as the heating system had stopped working correctly and he had accidentally broken the valve/tap on the bathroom radiator. VHL charged our tenent up front and come around and replaced the valve on the bathroom radiator. To fix the heating problem they suggested that changing the TRV heads on all other radiators may work and carried out the work before our approval and booked in a Power flush for the following week. A competent plumber or heating engineer would fully understand that the heating system was a closed system and a Power flush would not be necessary and could not be the fault. Replacing the TRV heads on the radiators would have no effect with the heating problem. Out of the 4 heads and one valve VHL changed, two of them were left leaking and over time will damage our oak floors. We had British Gas and our regular plumber around to inspect the works VHL competed and to also diagnose the heating issue. The written report from our plumber and British Gas stated: VHL had competed unecesary works by changing the 4 TRV Heads, which two are leaking and would never of solved the heating issue. A Power flush was not required as the it’s a closed system and the fault is with the boiler, which is now being replaced. VHL charged 3 time to price!

Free estimate and new boiler

I was really glad to hear that Village Heating provided a free estimate on installing a boiler. They provided a fairly reasonable price. I decided to go ahead with them, a quote was sent to me the same day and the customer service team were great in arranging a date for the engineer to come install the boiler. Village Heating even sorted the warranty out!

I employed VHL to rectify some botched plumbing work which resulted in them re-routing the waste water from my bath and sink into a rainwater drain in my garden. The drain is not connected to the sewer system and my garden is now flooded. They have ignored all requests for the work to be redone and I am now having to pay a competent firm to do the work. The plumber they sent offered to do various jobs privately for me, resulting in more unnecessary expense and lots of grief!

Very Happy with Village Heating, they have provided me with a fantastic service over the last few years. I am glad to be supporting local businesses, as I believe they provide a better service than the national companies. The engineers arrived on time and even provided me with further recommendations. The customer service team were absolutely great as I have a difficult schedule so they found the best slot for me.

Our boiler was serviced by Village Heating on 16/01/2017; it was in full working order but we mentioned that we needed to top up the water pressure more often than usual. The engineer said the pump was faulty and that he would have to order parts so he couldn't complete the service. After he left we discovered that the boiler had been disabled. This was very distressing as it was one of the coldest nights of the year. Having suffered a freezing night we felt obliged to allow him to return and replace the pump. This cost £754 and included an estimated 3 hours labour, which we paid in full, up front. Within 48 hours we had lost our heating due to a drop in pressure and it was clear that the replacement pump had not resolved the issue. We contacted Village Heating to complain. They sent another engineer who said the pump could not have been the issue and it should not have been replaced. We contacted Errol Langley, the customer services manager, to request a refund. He sent another expert who confirmed that replacing the pump could not resolve the pressure problem and that this work had therefore been carried out unnecessarily. Despite many calls and written complaints, including a letter to the managing director, we are now being completely ignored. We called Errol Langley on 06/02/2017. He said he would get back to us; we are still waiting! Please avoid this company. Also Errol Langley seems to have posted a 5 star review for VHL on another review website. So dishonest!

Engineer tried to upsell me a new boiler that wasn’t needed! I contacted Village Heating Ltd to fix my boiler as I saw they had a large number of positive reviews online. It turns out they offer a 10% discount for customers that post a review – hence why they have such a large number. When the engineer arrived and started looking at my boiler he quite quickly reeled off a list of things that could have been wrong, then tried to convince me I needed a new boiler that would likely cost around £2k. I didn’t believe my current boiler is old enough to justify a new one, and this is the first time I’ve had a problem so I was suspicious. When I said I’d need to get a second opinion before committing to that kind of expense he tried to deter me by saying a different company would be way more expensive than them etc. I later discovered that while he was looking at my boiler he’d disconnected a tube inside of it that meant after he’d gone I was stuck with no hot water or heating (it was working sporadically before he came), and when his job report was emailed to me he’d listed four things that needed replacing in order to fix the boiler. To get a second opinion I had an engineer from British Gas come round the next day and didn’t say anything about what the guy from Village Heating had said to see if he would say the same. He actually managed to fix the boiler in less than an hour and didn’t need to replace anything!
