To find the best bathroom brands, we surveyed 6,833 people who have had a new bathroom or bought bathroom products in the past five years. Read on to discover how brands such as B&Q, Victorian Plumbing, Duravit, Roca and Villeroy & Boch fared.

From the data we collected, we’ve been able to produce scores and ratings for brands in two key areas:

  1. Bathroom retailers – how customers rated retailers for their product range, quality of advice, delivery and dealing with problems.
  2. Bathroom product brands – how customers rated products from leading manufacturers for their quality, durability and value for money.

A quarter of those who responded to our survey said they used an independent bathroom retailer. So as well as rating the biggest bathroom retailers, we’ve also collated scores for independent retailers as a group.

Table notes: The results are based on an online survey of 6,833 adults – members of the Which? Connect panel and members of the public – conducted in June 2023. Sample sizes in brackets. In order to rate a bathroom product brand overall, respondents needed to have bought at least two products from the same brand (including baths, shower enclosures, cabinets, taps, toilets and sinks).

In addition to rating brands' bathroom products overall, we've also produced quality and durability ratings for specific products, such as baths, taps and toilets.

Visit our guide to the best bathroom sinks, taps, toilets, baths and showers for a detailed breakdown of how each brand was rated by customers for its individual components.

Best bathroom showers

As well as rating bathroom brands, we've put power, mixer and electric showers under the Which? spotlight.

Shower brands survey

We surveyed 2,642 Which? members about their showers and used the feedback to give major brands like Aqualisa, Mira and Triton a customer score.

We also gave each brand star ratings for important factors, such as build quality and temperature stability – all based on feedback from real customers.

Check our guides to the best electric shower brands, best mixer shower brands and best power shower brands to see which have the most satisfied customers.

Electric showers on test

We also put individual electric showers through their paces in the Which? test lab, testing how powerful each model is and whether you could get an unpleasant surprise if someone turning on a tap elsewhere in the house makes the shower temperature rise or fall.

Avoid a disappointing trickle or wildly fluctuating temperatures by choosing the best electric showers.

How Which? rates bathroom brands

In June 2023, we asked 6,833 members of the Which? Connect panel and members of the public about bathroom products that they had bought in the past five years. We used the answers to produce scores for both bathroom retailers and major bathroom product brands.

We asked respondents to rate the retailers they bought their bathroom products from, including their experience of the buying process (such as their range of products, quality of advice from staff, ease of delivery and value for money).

Where respondents had bought at least two bathroom products from the same brand (including baths, shower enclosures, cabinets, taps, toilets and sinks), we asked them to rate their experience of that brand’s products. This included aspects such as quality and durability, as well as value for money.

We have produced Which? customer scores for both the bathroom retailers and the product brands. You will see that some brands have a customer score within both of the above tables if it is both a retailer and produces own-label products, such as Ikea.

The Which? customer scores are based on how satisfied customers are with their experience with the bathroom retailer or bathroom product brand overall, and how likely they are to recommend it.

Our star ratings are generated by asking asking customers to rate the providers for each element on a seven-point scale from 'very poor' to 'excellent'. We can only give ratings where we have 30 or more responses.
