Find out moreThe graphic below shows the four main networks – EE, O2, Three and Vodafone – and the virtual networks that use their infrastructure.
Our survey found that the most common issues mobile customers have are constantly poor phone signal and continuous brief network dropouts.
Averaged across the parent and piggyback networks, providers using EE and Vodafone infrastructure had the highest rating for network reliability.
Networks operating on EE were the highest for download speeds. Meanwhile networks using Three's network received the lowest rating for network reliability, download speeds, and the combined rating.
While these ratings are a useful guide, they’re also subjective. High satisfaction with the overall service could create a more positive opinion of the network’s technical performance.
Research has shown that virtual operators can provide different speeds from their host and sister networks, based on factors such as how many competing devices are using the network and different providers’ traffic-management strategies.
