Tincknells serves customers across Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset, Avon and south Gloucestershire. It’s already a well-known name in the South West, with a great reputation for integrity and customer service. Company director Rob Ormond and heating services manager Richard Beck both emphasise that Tincknells is a ‘modest’ company, concerned more with providing a good service than making a fuss about it. But its recent win could change all that.

Tincknell Heating Services is one wing of the long-established fuel business, Tincknell Fuels. ‘It’s a win for the industry,’ said Rob Ormond. ‘The fuel industry, which we’re part of, doesn’t always get the best press, but this is a really positive step.’

We had an air source heat pump, UFH and radiators installed by Lee after he visited to survey our property prior to a major renovation. We had specifically sought out a Heat Geek accredited engineer for this work and Lee made an excellent job of the entire installation with the help of Ollie, managing to accommodate other trades as well as some timing issues with the build. The installation and commissioning were completed on time with no mess left behind. We're very happy with the after-sales service as Lee responded very quickly when we needed help to understand how the system runs. Would definitely recommend this professional and friendly company.

Lee and his team did an excellent job of switching my existing gas heating to a heat pump. From start to finish Lee was helpful in responding promptly to my emails and answering any questions including after the installation. When it came to the installation, in spite of the upheaval needed to adapt the existing system it was all done efficiently with no fuss. The whole team were friendly; they tidied up at the end of each day, finishing the installation in excellent time.

Boiler replacement

December 2024 storm damage rendered our old Hoval boiler inoperative. Tincknells had serviced the boiler and Aga for 35 years so on 9th December we asked them for a quote. With help from Nick Turner we approached insurers on 11th, which started a long dialogue querying various aspects of the project. Lee, the head man for the project, dealt with them too, pointing out why we could not repair the Hoval (no genuine Hoval spares were available for our out of date model, any substitutes would be deemed a ‘modification’) and why we needed a hot water cylinder as well as a boiler (the Hoval had been an integrated system, not separate). The estimate was finally agreed with insurers on 19th December. Scaffolding was erected on 20th. The old Hoval was removed after Christmas on 27th by Lee and Olly with a full crew of Tincknells workers. It was a tricky job as the boiler room is in the cellar down a flight of worn stone steps. Lee and Olly returned on 30th and 31st to install the new system so we had heat and hot water just in time for New Year’s Eve! The work was done with minimum disruption, very tidily and everyone involved was efficient, reliable, tidy and polite. There was a problem with the old circulation pump but that was resolved on 2nd January, the day we reported it. We are delighted with how the project was handled and would highly recommend Tincknells.

Lee did a great job in the initial survey and following design process for our heat pump, accommodating our thoughts and requirements for future works in his design. The whole team was brilliant throughout the installation process, working professionally, efficiently, and always leaving the house in good order at the end of each day, to allow us to remain in residence despite a full rework of the whole heating system. I would not hesitate to recommend.

Had Lee and his team round from Tincknell Heating to install a heat pump and after a week I couldn't have told you they'd been apart from we had new radiators and a warm house. The lads were so calm throughout the installation process of our new heat pump and answered all the questions we had. Any special requirements for where we wanted radiators put they adhered to. Once the work was done there wasn't a trace that they'd upgraded almost all the pipework in our property. I honestly can't recommend these guys enough. So courteous, so efficient and so reliable. Genuinely people who are amazing at their jobs. Would 100% use again and will be booking our heat pump service in with them in a years time.

Installing a new gas boiler

Tincknells have serviced our oil boilers for nearly 60 years, and have heroically kept the 40 year old boiler going seeking out ancient spare parts. When it finally expired they fitted a new gas boiler in an efficient and professional manner. Tincknells was the most competitive quotation of the three and held the price for 6 months until we were ready to go. The communication before the installation was excellent. Small touches, such as a visit by the installer the week before to explain the process, were really valued. Jamie and Liam did an exceptional job installing the boiler. They were professional and friendly and left the house clean and tidy. A potentially stressful experience was as painless as could be and we would not hesitate to recommend Tincknells. We look forward to the continued servicing of our new boiler.

They were neat, efficient, friendly and kept us up-to-date on the work as it progressed. When our trusty old boiler broke the day after getting back from out holiday I rang Tincknells, who were just fabulous from the moment I spoke to the lovely lady on the phone. Nick phoned and a date for a new boiler was arranged. On installation day, Liam and Matt arrived on time and off they went. The day was unstressful, and fun. They worked really hard, left no mess and Liam explained how everything worked. Matt is just finishing his 4 year training and was watched by two really nice men from a local college. I'm going to take out the system care plan and I can't praise Liam and Matt enough. Before they went I was given a beautiful bouquet of flowers. A fabulous experience. I would recommend this company.

Annual Service carried out at the time specified. Cheerful positive engineer. No idea of the quality of work as I am not an engineer but I am confident any after care problems would be dealt with from previous experience. My only quibble would be that the invitation to have a service and the appointment were made by email but without any reference to the cost. So if I wished to go ahead I had to ask - hence the 4 Stars. I can't really rate the quality or value of this visit until I see how the boiler performs during the year but last year there was no problem so I've given 5 stars.

INSTALLATION OF REPLACEMENT CENTRAL HEATING BOILER

The contract was to remove the existing Heating Boiler and replace with a new Worcester Bosch Greenstar Danesmoor Utility Oil fired Boiler over a 3 day period 19 - 21 August. The team of 2 Technicians and one Apprentice arrived on time each day and worked to their published schedule with the team leader briefing us clearly at each stage of the work. All three were well presented, polite, courteous, cooperative and considerate and dealt with all our queries and observations including some additional tasks not originally planned for. All tasks were carried out professionally and they were very tidy workers clearing up as they went along. Once installed the new boiler was tested rigorously, the full heating system was flushed and cleaned twice before draining and refilling with inhibitor and final test. Several faults with radiators were rectified, a faulty new switch unit was replaced and a new floor air grille was fitted. The Team briefed my wife & I on all the controls, new equipment and actions to take in case of failures or emergencies and the manufacturer's guarantee and Tincknell Heating support. We were provided with a full set of manufacturer's operating manuals for each piece of new equipment. At time of completion and sign off, the Team presented my wife with a flower arrangement on behalf of the company. It was a job very well done!
