How we test picture quality - office

Each monitor goes through a series of tests to determine how good its picture quality is. This includes how accurately it displays colours, how many colours overall it can display and how even the quality is across the screen. We also test how reflective the screen is and how wide the viewing angles are when looking at challenging images with darker tones.

How we test picture quality - photo editing

Using the same tests as the Office assessment, we up the standards required to achieve a high score so you can see whether the monitor is likely to meet your needs if your work requires accurate colours and even brightness levels.

How we test ease of use

We test how easy the monitor is to use every day, evaluating the settings menus and physical adjustments you might need to make frequently.

How we test build quality

We assess how well built the monitor is and whether its materials are of a high quality.

How we test features

We tot up the number of ports and other extra features such as ergonomic adjustments and provide an overall star rating. The more feature-packed a monitor is, the higher it scores.

How we test speaker sound quality

If a monitor has speakers, we assess how good they sound with a variety of speech and music audio content.
