We also delved into the nitty-gritty of furniture buying. We asked our members to share any issues they've had with the longevity, delivery or installation of their product.

Which brand offers the best delivery service?

Moving on from the quality of the furniture itself, we asked our consumers to tell us about their experience with their furniture delivery.

The vast majority of our respondents waited less than two months for their furniture (80%), and one third waited less than two weeks (33%).

In addition, 67% reported having no issues with their delivery. The most common problems were the delivery being rearranged several times by the brand (10%), some parts becoming unavailable after ordering (9%) and some parts being missing at delivery (8%).

Sharps' 15-year product and workmanship guarantee stands out as the most generous policy from all of the brands in our survey.

However, most companies offer a 10-year guarantee on their furniture.

There was a lot of variety in the guarantees for installation services. We couldn't find any information on policies from Ikea or Homebase, so you might not be covered against issues arising from the installation of your wardrobe.

The best installation guarantees were from Sharps, Wickes and B&Q.

Which? research into fitted wardrobe and bedroom furniture brands

In May 2022, we asked 2,966 Which? members and the general public about their experiences of buying fitted wardrobes and fitted bedroom furniture since 2012.

We require a minimum of 30 people to respond to each element to be able to rate a brand. Our total sample sizes were: Ikea (813), Wickes (72), Hammonds (170), Sharps (220), Argos (365), Homebase (89) and B&Q (211).

Our unique customer scores come from a combination of asking people how satisfied they are with a brand and whether they would recommend it to a friend.

Fitted bedroom furniture includes made-to-measure wardrobes and furniture, as well as wardrobes and furniture selected to fit a specific space. It doesn't include freestanding items.
