Andersen EV has been named Which? Trusted Trader of the Month for January 2025. The judging panel was particularly impressed by the company's commitment to providing great customer service.

The Bedfordshire-based firm designs and installs bespoke electrical vehicle chargers for customers' homes, and has been endorsed by Which? Trusted Traders since 2024.

We spoke to Charlie Atkinson, Head of Marketing at Andersen EV, to find out more about their business and the benefits of being a Which? Trusted Trader.

Stand out from the crowd and become a Which? Trusted Trader today.

Design, customisation and quality

Andersen EV has a design-led focus, offering a variety of customisation options for an electric vehicle charging point. This means customers can match the installation to their home or vehicle, rather than the emphasis being purely on utility.

Andersen EV’s great performance is reflected by the company’s near perfect score on its Which? Trusted Traders review page, with a 4.9 star overall rating, 4.9 stars for customer service, 5 stars for quality, and 4.8 stars for value.

A recent review from a very satisfied customer said: ‘I've purchased an EV charge point from Andersen and used their installation service. I am seriously impressed! Their website is clear and informative, backed up by absolutely first-class customer service. … [Installation] was thorough, safe and well done. The charge point is well-made, looks good (you can store the wire behind its cover), and is supported by a simple but very effective app. …  Many firms claim to put the customer first - this one really does. I cannot recommend their staff and their service too highly.’

Charlie said: ‘We’re proud that our customers choose us as the charge point for their homes. We understand that the majority of customers are new to the world of electric vehicles, so we’re always honoured when they trust us to be a part of that journey.

‘Our customers place a great deal of importance on design and performance, so every order is recognition of that commitment to quality.’

Attentive customer service is integral

Andersen EV prioritises customer service, opting for human contact, rather than automatic answering or chat bots.

After initial consultation, customers are given the contact details of their personal concierge advisor, who will continue to support them through the entire process, pre-installation, post-installation and beyond.

One of the judges said: ‘I like their customer expectation when it comes to answering the phone - what a great way to guarantee talking to their customers. I love their headline of "a help desk who don't give in" this really aligns with Which?’s mantra and what we stand for. They really take their consumer care seriously. I was impressed that all of their work is checked by their Head of Installations too.’

Charlie echoed how Andersen EV fits in with Which?’s ethos: ‘The Which? Trusted Trader scheme is widely regarded as one of the most reliable and respected endorsements in the industry. It provides consumers with the assurance that they are engaging with a business that meets stringent quality standards and by aligning our services with this accreditation, we aimed to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.’

Charity and community projects help others

Beyond installing chargers and looking after customers, Andersen EV also raises money for charity and reaches out to local schools to help inform about electric vehicles, charging points and sustainability.

Last October, the company  raised over £325 for a breast cancer charity. They also held a Macmillan Coffee Morning in the office, which raised over £315.

The UK’s zero emission vehicle (ZEV) mandate requires that, from 2030, 80% of all new vehicles sold have to be zero emission. From 2035 this rises to 100%, so current primary school children will be the first generation unable to buy a new petrol or diesel vehicle.

With this in mind, Andersen EV staff attended a local primary school to explain why this is happening, what it means for the children, and to discuss related issues such as climate change and reducing environmental damage.

Although keen to be involved in the community around the Andersen EV headquarters in Stewartby, Bedfordshire, Charlie explained how expansion has given them national capability: ‘In 2024, the Andersen team expanded to more than 50 members of staff. Andersen also operates with its own, in-house installation team that offers a nationwide service.

‘This in-house team allows us to reduce the lead times for our installations, with the average installation taking place 2-3 weeks after the order. Andersen is also the only charge point brand in the UK to operate an entirely electric fleet of installation vehicles.’

Which? Trusted Trader status provides instant trust

‘The Which? Trusted Trader status is an important part of our messaging, with the logo awarding us instant trust with prospective customers,’ said Charlie.

‘By achieving this status, we assure our customers that our installation service adheres to strict industry benchmarks for quality and reliability. We believe that the excellence of a product is only as strong as its implementation, and this trademark ensures that our installations are performed with precision and care.

‘Any business should look to earn Which? Trusted Trader status in order to showcase the quality of their service and to establish themselves as a reputable brand in their field,’ adds Charlie.

Congratulations to Andersen EV for winning January 2025’s Which? Trusted Trader of the Month award.
