Things were worked on well, I was informed what was needed before they carried it out. I had to have a new tyre on the front which they got for me so things were done in a couple of hours. they are always very help full and respectful

I am a new customer to the team. My car broke down on the side of the road and 1st stop cars allowed me to have the car in the garage for over a week before they were able to look at it. They kept me informed at every step and where honest with regards to how much this would cost and what my options were at each stage. I will be going back to this garage. As a female with little car knowledge, I often felt that garages would take advantage, however this garage was not this way at all. Really lovely group of guys who have a passion for their job and take pride in looking after their customers at ever stage. The MOT for my rare Brooke ME190 car was expiring at the end of July, so a renewal appointment was made with 1st Stop, as they had issued my previous MOT and had detailed knowledge of the car. I delivered the car in time for the scheduled inspection, and was met with a very positive welcome from all 1st Stop staff, who provided every assistance in entering the workshop, especially because the car is open top and rain had commenced. The MOT tester Rick was very patient, explained all processes clearly and carried out the MOT in a very thorough and professional manner, especially considering that the facility was new to the team, having recently relocated. A new MOT was issued. I rate this company very highly and recommend it to any persons requiring their services.

My car broke down at 5pm on a bank holiday weekend. Kevin at First Stop received the car on Tuesday and returned it to me on Thursday at 9am. Job done, no fuss. no problem.

Went to this garage for an MOT after being let down by the previous garage I used. All I can say is I will only be using this garage in future noting was to much trouble really good communications , and will be returning this sat for a tyre sensor change.

Such a quick and easy MOT from start to finish. Booked in online on the Wednesday for a slot on the Saturday, dropped my car off, popped out to do a few bits and was ready to pick up within an hour! Very friendly and efficient team, will definitely be using again!

This visit was just to do (my first) MOT on this car, but it followed up a full service a month ago. This is the third car Kevin and the team have looked after for me, and as always the work was totally in line with what they say they do. Work done was totally in line with what was needed, no more and no less. Where things were optional I was given the information needed to choose. Car went in for MOT which could have failed as no water in windscreen washer container but they topped it up for me so it was able to pass. Always be pleased with their service and also used by other family members.

Booked my car in for its annual service with 1st Stop happy to accommodate my choice of date. As usual, only necessary work was undertaken. I thought the brake fluid might need to be replaced being nearly three years old but was advised that this would be tested to check that the work was required. The test showed that the fluid was still OK saving me unnecessary costs. Kevin from 1st Stop also phoned me to advise that the rear brake pads were significantly worn and sought my approval for replacement. This is typical of 1st Stop's approach which combined with friendly but professional service keeps me a returning customer. The whole experience is a refreshing change from other garages I've used where I've felt the main focus to be maximizing revenue. The final benefit of using 1st Stop is that it's a local business within easy walking distance of my home!

It was much appreciated that they sent me an annual reminder that my MOT was shortly due. An appointment was then made and the MOT was carried out on time. An SMS was sent to me when the test had been completed and my vehicle was ready for collection. Service was with a smile and I left feeling that my custom was valued.

I found this trader to be very helpful. On the odd times, I have had called on his services other than for service. For the service and MOT, he arranged for collection and return of our vehicle, my wife and I both being over 80. I have used this trader for several years and would not hesitate to recommend them. Having been let down by a main dealer over my car's first MOT test (they cancelled the test with less than 24 hours notice) I called at 1st Stop Cars Ltd in Rochford and explained that without an MOT test I would be unable to renew my Road Fund License. I found myself with a starting problem at a time when I had to depend on my vehicle for emergencies and was delighted to find (a) First Stop Cars open when many garages were not and (b) an early repair slot available. A swift diagnosis of the problem the very next day with work needed and the cost promptly communicated to me meant that the glow plugs and fuel filter were all replaced whilst I found something else to do locally and this morning the car started on the button for the first time in months. I'm enormously grateful for an extremely helpful service that has restored my peace of mind.

I found this garage via Trusted Garages and noticed they are also a Which? member. I was sick of being fobbed off because I don’t know much about cars so needed a garage I could trust. The quote I received for a new cambelt was very competitive - several garages had quoted me double the price!! Kevin was fantastic and also did some additional free of charge checks for me for some other work. He put my mind at rest, fully explaining any suggested work, giving honest recommendations and clear quotes with breakdowns. The communication and customer service was exceptional throughout. I will certainly be using this garage in future and would recommend.

Following a recent break down caused by my elderly father in law who had to be rescued by me. I discovered that he had forgotten to renew his breakdown cover. This was his fault as his age has begun to lead to forgetfulness and bad driving skills. I have been trying to get him to stop driving for a couple of years now without success. I consequently called upon 1st Stop Cars, Rochford, for their help. The sympathy and sensitivity with which they handled the situation was more than I could have hoped for. The car was retrieved and repaired within 48 hours. They also went above and beyond by addressing all enquiries to me rather than my father in law and, as per my instructions, did not hand the car keys to him when he attempted to retrieve the car. Because of their consideration and helpfulness an elderly, incapable driver is now off the road and no threat to other road users. The relief to myself and my family is immense as is our thanks to all at 1st Stop Cars. I, and my family have used 1st Stop for many years and have always been totally satisfied with the work completed and the helpfulness of all members of staff. Just an MoT this time but I've been using 1st Stop for a number of years for all sorts of car maintenance work on a variety of vehicles and have found them to be consistently welcoming, professional and skilled in their business. It's always good to see familiar faces knowing that they did a good job last time. It's also good to support the smaller, local businesses.

Had to have my daughters mini cooper towed to the garage last night as her power steering went, had already spoken with the garage prior to see if this was possible if rescue couldn't fix it as it would be out of hours. It was no problem at all. Had a call from the garage this morning once they had checked it over. It was a potential 2 fault problem, alternator, power steering pump or both, they advised on the cheaper fault first and what do you know, after some additional resetting of some codes car is now fixed. Only started using 1st stop a year ago and I can happily say will not go anywhere else. A refreshing no nonsense, reasonably priced, honest garage. Have used them for MOT, servicing and repairs and can highly recommend them.

Phoned to book a waiting MOT appointment for my motorcycle and was pleased to be told that the work could be done later that day. The test commenced within a couple of minutes of my arrival and was completed within approximately half an hour. All went well with the test apart from an incorrectly aligned headlamp which was adjusted free of charge. I was also given the opportunity to speak to the tester after completion of the test and asked him to appraise the condition of the bike's drive chain and sprocket. Rather than just give the chain a cursory glance, he took the trouble to put the bike on its centre stand and conducted a thorough inspection. He concluded that the components still had plenty of life in them, putting my mind at rest. Overall, I was very impressed with the friendly and professional service I received and would not hesitate to recommend this trader

I broke my windscreen wiper this morning due to it being stuck in ice! Popped down to 1st Stop who very quickly sorted the problem and got me back on the road again in no time. They are always happy to help and very accommodating at reasonable cost too :-)

Yet again great service from 1st Stop Cars. I received the invoice as quoted without any extras. Rather than just replacing parts for the sake of it, they actually let you know if there is 6 months left on brake pads for instance so you can make a choice whether to leave it for now.

Booked my old banger of a car in for MOT and, unsurprisingly, it failed with three different major faults. I was kept informed and given honest advice throughout. I was given a "worst case", quotation for the work but reassured that I was under no obligation to go ahead and was given time to consider my options. I decided to go ahead and was given a courtesy car so that I could get about while the work was done - this was at no extra cost and was completely hassle free. As promised, the work was completed by the close of business the following day and the final price was cheaper than quoted as they had been able to tweak a couple of things rather than replace them. Absolutely great service and highly recommended.

I was recommended 1st Stop by a friend and now understand why they have such a great reputation. I bought a BMW that needed quite a bit of work doing. 1st Stop were fantastic! Not only did they fit parts that they sourced but also those sourced by myself. I booked online for my car to have an MOT this morning and I am delighted with the service I received. I was called and informed about a slight problem with my car involving a spring and how much it would cost to repair. It was really reasonable; I’m very happy to have had the repair sorted out today. Not for the first time in the year I have been here Kevin and his team came to the rescue. Just a small thing - discovered a big nail in the centre of a big tyre - but outside my ability to deal with, and at a time when I needed the car later today. Less than three hours from when I was waiting for them to reopen after the Bank Holiday, I had the SMS saying the car was ready. As always, it is when the going gets tough that the tough get going, or to put it another way: most businesses can deal with the day-to-day stuff. It's when the unexpected arises that you find out who you can rely on. Much appreciated, guys!

I do most of my own servicing and mechanical work, always have. I first used 1st Stop about 3 years ago for an MOT on my car and was impressed to the point of getting a cam belt changed. This was quoted for and carried out very efficiently and economically. When I realised that they did motorcycle MOTs also I gave up using motorcycle only MOT stations and have had my bikes done there too. I realise that the DVLA now have a reminder service but I will continue to use Kevin's email and text reminder service. Also appreciate being able to book online, at a moments notice at times! Works for me with my ever growing bike collection! I have no hesitation in recommending 1st Stop.

Having become disillusioned with other local garages/dealerships charging over the odds, carrying out unauthorised work, and ALWAYS finding things that ‘needed’ to be done (when they clearly didn’t), I decided to look for an alternative independent garage when my BMW’s MOT and service became due. Came across 1st Stop Cars online, and was impressed with the reviews. Called in last week and was given a convenient appointment and a fair quote on the spot. Thankfully the car sailed through the MOT, although there was an issue with one of the locking wheel bolts which turned into ‘one of those jobs’! Kevin called to report and gave a range of options. Despite this problem taking a good deal of extra time to resolve, the work was completed very skilfully on the same day, and at no additional charge. In my experience it’s rare to go to a garage and pay only what was originally quoted, but that is exactly what happened today. Really impressed with the service received and the skill of the technicians who worked on the car. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and will certainly be returning. Being a female in my 30's I'm always a little worried about being ripped off with garages but I was blown away by the honesty and professional morals of this garage. My car failed it's first MOT and I was quoted for repairs, I went ahead and booked my car in and was so pleased to be informed my original quote was lowered as I didn't need my rear brake pads changing as first thought. In the past six months I've seen more of Kevin than I really wanted: clutch went on the daughter's car the Friday before she needed it for a driving test - replaced on the day but she subsequently failed ( which was hardly Kevin's fault); she wanted a different radio fitted but the Xmas pressie replacement could not be fitted so Kevin photographed the back of it while it was out so that I could see the connection, but when it went back with the requisite lead the replacement radio unit still wouldn't work, so Kevin didn't charge for the labour; a couple of weeks ago it was back for its MOT and advisories were fixed on the spot within a couple of hours. I hope I don't see Kevin for another 12 months but I would have no qualms about doing so.

My wife recently had a problem with her Mini Cooper, with the manual gearbox becoming so stiff that she struggled to change gear. Kevin advised me to bring it in so that it could be checked; he subsequently called me to say that it looked as though it needed replacement cables and gave me a quote. When the work was carried out the cables didn't need to be replaced, and the work was more than £100 cheaper than originally estimated -- I felt that this demonstrated the total honesty and integrity of 1st Stop!
