My old boiler needed replacing, so I got a few quotes to get a sense of the cost and work involved. I chose Alan because when he visited to give an estimate, he struck me as an affable, knowledgeable professional. Also, I appreciated him giving a detailed explanation & costings of what the job entailed. Alan patiently and politely answered any questions I had and later sent me a detailed written estimate of all that had been discussed. On the agreed starting date for installing the boiler, Alan arrived on time, worked very hard throughout the day and tidied up when he was finished. Despite it being a long day’s work, Alan took time to double-check the boiler and radiators, making sure everything was in good working order before he left. I am pleased with his work and would be happy to recommend him.

Installed new Worcester Bosch boiler

Alan and his assistant Fred installed a new Worcester Bosch boiler for us. Alan communicated clearly ahead of the job and completed the job to a high standard for a fair price. He flushed the system and installed the new boiler, system filter and Hive mini thermostat. He had to rework some of the pipes and fit a new flue and condensate pipe to the outside of our first floor flat. He also fixed our towel radiator which had been installed incorrectly. He understood our requirements and clearly explained everything in simple terms. Finally he made sure everything was working and that we were happy before he left. Highly recommended.

What can I say, a tradesman who absolutely knows his job inside out. My old boiler was installed by cowboys and we have had nothing but problems, then comes along Alan. Wow he really knows his stuff I highly recommend this guy,he is patient and explains everything so well. Alan replaced my conventional boiler with a combination boiler and changed all the radiators. The job was done in a timely fashion with minimal disruption. He explained the operation to me and I have been very happy with the job. Also, he got me a somewhat longer manufacturer's guarantee than some other installers were offering.

Alan Mack recently installed a new boiler for us at my elderly mum’s property after she had been let down by Homeserve and had been without heating and hot water for a month. For a whole variety of reasons, it was an awkward and difficult job, not least because lack of use for a month of the 40yr old heating system resulted in a blockage that was extremely difficult to fix. Alan went above and beyond to resolve the problem, persisting with a whole range of potential solutions, so committed was he to leaving my mum with a fully functioning system, which in the end he achieved. We were very grateful for his persistence and his transparency and integrity in coming to a fair price to cover his additional unforeseen costs. We would not hesitate to recommend Alan, who we also found to be very competitively priced compared to British Gas.

I rang Alan when our wireless thermostat (and therefore central heating) stopped working just before Christmas. He kindly guided me over the phone how to put it right and came round a few days later to install a new thermostat. He also serviced our boiler and fixed a leaking radiator at the same time and then fitted a new filter tap in our kitchen, which turned out to be quite tricky. They were all long overdue jobs so we were very grateful, particularly to have a working kitchen tap again. I also appreciated the way he explained what needed doing and what it would entail.

We contacted Alan as the Vaillant boiler installed in 2016 developed fault 28, it was the worst fault possible as it covered so many scenarios, and was out of guarantee. The most common fault replacing the PCB board failed, which was £250. The older Vaillant boiler same model was ok but 10 years old. Following a discussion the advice was to replace them both at the same time. We chose to install Worcester Bosch replacements as these had proved to be very reliable in our previous home and Alan had installed and serviced them. Alan sourced 2 Worcester Bosch boilers and gave us a quote the next day, Saturday, which was agreed and the work was completed on the following Friday, with a 10 year guarantee. On Friday morning he arrived on time and the job was completed by 4pm which included testing the system, completing the paperwork and clearing everything away leaving the place tidy. He completed the job without any fuss. Alan is always reliable, always texts to say what time he is coming. He has been our go to heating engineer/ plumber since 2010. I would not hesitate to recommend him.

Alan installed a replacement Worcester Bosch boiler for me on November 6th, with replacement radiator valves, a replacement towel rail and a replacement thermostat. He left me with details of what aftercare might be required and how to program the thermostat. I have had the new system now for two weeks and I'm delighted to say it is all working perfectly. The operation was performed efficiently and with minimum mess. I have no reservations about recommending Alan Mack plumbing and heating services. (The Honeywell leaflet instructions could be better. Fortunately there is an excellent YouTube video.......)

Having been endlessly mucked about by a local plumber who did not have a Drayton Motorised Valve and said it had to be specially ordered in, I found 12 such valves available for collect at various local plumbers' merchants around me! Having waited two days, I called Alan and he came over straight away, fitted the valve and checked the system. I thoroughly recommend this very efficient and helpful man

Called Alan as we needed our boiler and central heating system serviced and a radiator thermostat replaced. Within a week the work was completed and we now have a boiler working as if it was new and radiators working efficiently, he kindly was even able to provide the replacement radiator thermostat without charge. Alan replied promptly and courteously to my initial enquiry. After a helpful conversation, in which he indicated how I could make the most economical choices, we agreed a date for the work to be done. Alan installed a new mixer tap in my kitchen - not an easy task as he had to pull out the dishwasher to gain access to the infrastructure of my sink. He also repaired a mystery leak under the sink. An issue with the toilet cistern was solved by replacing the ball valve. He had anticipated this problem and had put a replacement in his van, just in case. Finally, a heating job: my gas fire was not working so Alan gave it all a thorough clean to remove debris that had accumulated. He also advised that I buy a new CO detector and that I have the chimney swept. At every stage of each job, Alan kept me informed of the steps he was taking. And everything was left spotless after he had finished. A good afternoon's work!

I booked Alan to carry out a powerflush on our old and neglected central heating we inherited with the house. I knew it was not going to be straightforward and so it proved. Alan was with us almost the entire day fixing one issue after another, but at the end of the day we have heating and hot water. Alan was professional throughout and talked me through the various problems and solutions. Although he was with us much longer than expected the agreed fee remained the same. I would definitely recommend Alan Mac for plumbing and central heating work.
