When I made contact with Alan (after finding him on Which?) about providing and installing a replacement boiler, he was quick to arrange a visit. He talked through the work thoroughly, explaining options and potential issues. He then immediately provided a clear summary and estimate of the proposed work. Once we had selected Alan, he reconfirmed the quote and booked a date a few days later. Alan and his colleague arrived as arranged and worked through the day completing the work as agreed. They stopped only to discuss options and issues, undertaking some additional work at Alan's own cost after some complications arose. After a long day (9.30 am-7.30 pm) Alan took us through the installation in detail; tidied up and removed the rubbish, leaving us with a working and professional-looking boiler installation. It can be disruptive having people working in the house but Alan and his colleague were both highly personable and professional and made the experience as easy as possible.

I have used his services before and was very happy to request them once again. He provided me with a boiler service and landlord gas safety check for a good price. He was efficient and knowledgeable but also polite and got the job done whilst providing me with some expert advice. I will definitely use him again.

I have used Alan before on a boiler repair a while back and needed a complete house heating system put in my new house I bought last year Alan has been working here for for about 7 months. He's installed a new boiler and cylinder underfloor heating and a pumped system to increase my pressure like he suggested he's also installed 3 new bathrooms for me. His services and recommendation has been outstanding. He's gone above and beyond with his service and even helped me with recommend other excellent tradesmen when I was I stuck or let down. It was exhausting this project but working with Alan was a relief and had total confidence when he carried out what he said he would do. To say I'm happy would be an understatement. As Which subscriber, when our existing 15-year-old boiler gave up and left us with no hot water or heating on 8th Jan 2022 we knew we had to replace the system. This was some of the coldest weather so far this winter. We checked online for approved traders and system manufacturers. We selected Worcester Bosch and chose what appeared to be two models which would suit our requirements. We then contacted Alan and explained our situation. Alan came to see us on Monday midday on10th Jan and looked at our requirements, advising us as to what was required to be done and to replace nine radiators as well as our boiler. He quoted us for replacing the boiler only and for replacing both boiler and radiators. When the chosen boiler could not be readily sourced Alan procured the latest Greenstar 8000 boiler and was able to start work on the Tuesday 18th Jan leaving us with hot water on Tuesday evening and finishing the install on Wed 19th Jan with full heating. At all times Alan was careful not to leave any mess and the pipework on all fittings was extremely neat. Alan gave us an explanation of how the boiler functioned and told us what to look out for regarding bleeding and topping up the system. All has been working well for a week now and we appreciate our newfound comfort. I would have no hesitation in recommending Alan Mack services to friends and neighbours.

We had a job we'd been putting off for a while. Very old and fragile pipes connected to a communal tank needed to be disconnected and capped off, and new copper pipework needed to be run through from the mains. There were a few risks involved with this one, but there was no one else I would have trusted with it. Alan has serviced our boiler a couple of times and done another excellent plumbing job for us, and was the only person we considered for this job. Alan talked us through all the potential risks and gave us a competitive quote. He arrived on time and got the job done perfectly. An added bonus is that he's approachable, friendly and always takes the time to answer any questions you may have. I can't recommend him highly enough.

My ancient boiler broke down during the cold snap just before Christmas. Alan went above and beyond to try and fix it in short term, despite being extremely busy at that time. He did manage to get it going again which tied us over until the new year. He has recently installed a new boiler and at the same time made a number of upgrades to the whole central heating system which were overdue. In my view that is where the benefit comes in - using someone who knows and understands your heating system versus random heating engineers sent by British Gas. Alan explains the technical details well which makes you feel a bit more in control. The work was done with a high degree of professionalism to the agreed schedule and budget and I would be happy to recommend Alan to my friends.

Alan is pleasant and easy to get on with. He explained clearly what he was going to do and kept us up to date with what was happening. He successfully sorted out some very tricky problems which other plumbers had failed to do. We recommend him and because his work was so good have already arranged his return in 2 weeks to do a few more plumbing jobs.

He is a very polite and engaging gentleman who is happy to explain how your heating system functions and the mechanics of any problems. He left everything spotlessly clean. I received a first class service including a free lesson on how to reset the pressure on my boiler! He also got two of my radiators working again. Polite and friendly service, but the best thing was; I paid a good rate and I know more about my boiler than ever before! I will definitely be using their services again.

We had a longstanding underfloor heating issue, which we needed to be investigated and resolved. Based on the reviews, and closeness to our house, Alan seemed to be a good fit. He was easy to reach, and when he came out to the house, he was able to investigate, diagnose and resolve the problem in a very short time frame. He also explained what the issue was, without resorting to jargon and confusing language. Once we had agreed a price, he fixed the issue and also provided some advice on things to watch out for in terms of the heating system generally. Clean and tidy too - would definitely recommend.

Alan was a very knowledgeable Heating engineer, he wasn’t the cheapest, but as they say, you get what you pay for. From the start to finish I have no complaints, when he visited my house 1st time, we set and I went through my requirements and problems, and he gave me a quote with recommendations, he spent well over discussing my requirements. When i was ready, I called him again, and he spent good amount of time explaining everything in details. While installing the boiler, he came across poor wiring and he sorted that out for me without additional charges, it did take him good few hours to sort the wiring. He also sorted out my old piping in the roof which looked like cobweb, but he sorted that out too, his piping skills are to be admired. Throughout the install he asked if I was happy with the progress of the job, also each day he would clear up all the mess before leaving for the day. Overall he is a excellent central heating engineer, and it was a pleasure picking the right person for the job, I would recommend Alan to anyone.

Alan was recommended to us. The task was to upgrade our heating system by adding a new pump to increase pressure and a new boiler. Together with 3 new radiators and fitting new valves and brackets to existing vintage radiators. From the initial conversation you got a good feeling that this was a really professional service. The initial call and quote was very thorough. The work itself was performed on time and too budget with due consideration to additional costs, agreed in advance and with recommendations. Alan came to fit a wireless thermostat, service the boiler and balance the radiators. He was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and completed all the work efficiently and quickly while also checking over the whole system.
