Allen & Allen

My electricity went down just before Christmas, and on phoning around, Allen & Allen were the only people who agreed to send someone over to have a look. Unfortunately it could not be fixed, so in January I was advised to have my place rewired. It therefore made sense to use Allen & Allen. I can not recommend them, in the first place, I was led to understand some information and found it not to be so, for example it took just over 4 weeks to complete the rewiring, this was because a week was taken off for no reason at all, then at times only one electrician was working as opposed to the usual two, so therefore the job took longer than it should have taken. I also wanted period switches, and was led to believe that I would be shown various samples, in fact this was not to be, all I was sent was pictures via e-mail. I found I had to order both samples and switches myself. I just wish I had been informed about this earlier. The other issue was, that there were two bosses, one from Allen & Allen and the person in charge of the electricians themselves. This at times created a problem. The work itself was done competently, and one of the electricians certainly went out of his way to be helpful, even coming in specially on a Sunday when my electricity had failed altogether. If there is an advantage by using Allen & Allen, Philip Allen was able to send the odd person over in order to make good afterwards. For me that was of limited value as I found rather as I would anticipate that I had to get the entire place redecorated. Since the rewiring has been completed I have had to phone the electricians twice as the electricity had tripped, each time I found the electrician’s manager very helpful. I can make no comments as to price, as the circumstance I found myself in, I was unable to get other quotes or do any other checks.
