A friendly local firm who were efficient and courteous. The team arrived on time and carried out the removal to our complete satisfaction. We moved into a brand new build house and protective coverings were placed on all the carpeting whilst the team were working. We are more than happy to recommend this firm.

They then moved us four hours away and spent a total of four days unloading and also unpacking the big pieces of furniture. Friendly and helpful team, nothing broken, everything completed on time -actually finished early on the final day! Previous moves we have done everything ourselves, honestly couldnt have done it without them this time due to being pregnant with small kids to watch and no leave possible from work. Used Barleycorn for a full pack and removal service. They were great; all the guys were friendly and helpful and happily accomodated delays to the completion which meant the offloading went late in to a Friday evening. Would have no hesitation using them again, if we ever move again!

We used Barleycorn in August to move us from Oxfordshire to Devon and we could not fault the team at all! We had an issue with our move date and they kept our spot until we could finalise it all. We decided to use the pack and move package and we are so glad we did! They arrived as arranged on the Tuesday morning talked through everything made sure we were happy and where we wanted them to start. The just got on with it. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They returned on the Wednesday to finish packing and loaded everything on to the lorry. When we arrived at the new house they unloaded as much as they could, they set up the beds, sofa’s made sure we had everything we needed to be getting on with for that day. They returned the next morning to unload the rest. Again nothing was too much trouble and it was a blisteringly hot day! I would absolutely recommend Barleycorn and have done so already! John, Luke and Ashley were our team and they were fab! Should we ever need to move again we wouldn’t hesitate in contacting them again.

We recently moved house in Oxford and used Barleycorn for a full pack and move service. They were excellent from start to finish. They came to quote promptly, offered a fair price compared to other local quotes and booking was straightforward and flexible. Communication was great throughout the process. The movers themselves were really friendly and polite and took great care of our belongings. They were punctual, the packing time had been estimated correctly and there were no unexpected problems or hidden charges. Nothing was damaged, they reassembled the furniture in the new house, and didn't complain at all about a difficult staircase they had to carry a heavy king-sized mattress up. They also came back promptly to collect all the empty boxes and packing materials. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

The staff gave me service that exceeded expectations. Parking restrictions at the house meant 70+ cardboard boxes and wooden crates had to be offloaded and manually carried 60 metres in the rain. When the move didn’t go as expected, and we had to wait a number of hours , they were reassuring and calm throughout. From the first visit made to assess the contents for a quote to the final moments of moving day, Barleycorn provided friendly, efficient, careful and patient service. The team of movers worked incredibly quickly and with a great sense of humour. My move covered 130 miles and there was a delay in getting the key so the team had to wait outside the property and then work fast to unload everything so they could get back home in reasonable time at the end of a long day. They did not complain and were unfailingly helpful and good humoured despite there being some extremely heavy and awkward items as well as many that were fragile. We engaged Barleycorn Removals as a result of reading Which Trusted Trader which gave them an excellent endorsement. We found they lived up to our expectations completely. We needed to change our plans at short notice necessitating packing up to be done on Sunday rather than in the week to allow completion to take place 150 miles away on Monday. This was done swiftly and in a professional manner . In spite of problems with M25 protesters the team got their vehicles through with the minimum of fuss and in plenty of time to offload our possessions. Unfortunately the keys to our new property were "held up" and delivered at the end of the business day. This meant several hours of delay which the teams managed without complaint. Everything was offloaded and put into the appropriate rooms of the house and the garage before they could start on their return journey. I was very impressed at the calm , professional and helpful attitude of everyone on the teams and their cheerful demeanour by all concerned. There were no mishaps , breakages or confusions largely due to the pre planning and excellent packing / protection of our property and no additional charges for the delays incurred. I can heartily recommend this company for all of your removal needs and hope they get a better break than they received from us.

Barleycorn did our house move from Newbury to Wallingford exceptionally well. Chris did a very thorough job when he came to quote on the job and responded promptly to all our queries in the lead-up to the move. The team who carried out the pack and move were outstanding. David, Lee and Trevor packed everything the day before our move and their care, organisation and humour made the whole process really straightforward for us. They came back the next day to finish packing the lorry and we were at our new address ready to move in by midday. Nothing was broken or damaged in the move and everything was put in the room where we wanted it, even fifteen heavy boxes of books taken up to the second floor room. The communication was excellent throughout and we couldn't fault Barleycorn in any way. If you're planning a move in this area we would recommend them without hesitation.

Barleycorn Removals had already been used by two members of our family and came well recommended. We had a provisional booking initially, reserving our preferred date. The move took place over 2 days. A team of polite and friendly removers arrived punctually and worked hard and carefully on both days. All packing cases and materials were provided. The move went very smoothly, with up to 7 staff moving us in. An appointment was made to collect the empty packing cases a week later. There was slight damage to an item of furniture, which was replaced at cost price, without quibble. We have no hesitation in recommending Barleycorn. Good quality service at a competitive price.

I recently moved to Wallingford in Oxfordshire and always try to use local tradespeople. Barleycorn Removals moved my stuff from Bucks, put it into storage and delivered it today. Barleycorn helped us for 2 days in early April in moving house locally. The first day was spent packing up for us - this was definitely worth the investment given how much stuff we have and how challenging it is to do yourself with two young kids. They did this efficiently and carefully. On the second day there was some final packing, and then a very quick move in during the afternoon in just a few hours - thanks to putting a large team on the job - it was impressive how quick they were. I chose Barleycorn Removals as they are a small local firm and I was not disappointed. Chris called to see me and gave me a detailed estimate for packing and removal to storage. The packing went well and the guys were friendly, courteous and helpful. My belongings were in storage much longer than anticipated, but when the time came to move, Chris was able to squeeze me in to his busy schedule and everything was delivered on the same day. The guys who unloaded were great - again helpful and courteous - and very hard working. I had a minor problem of not being able to locate a toolbox but found it in the following days in an unlabelled box. Given the number of boxes though, this was not bad! Communications throughout were very good and I would have no hesitation in recommending Barleycorn Removals.

So, like many, I have skimped on moves in the past. I used Anyvan for a previous move and one smashed guitar and a police report later I vowed never to do it again. So I looked at reviews - like this one - to assess who to go with next time out for a house move from Berkshire to Kent. Barleycorn came highly recommended already. I am not about to disagree. From beginning to end they could not be more helpful. They moved everything asked of them, positioned it as requested and did so with the minimum of fuss. In some cases they left furniture in better condition in the new property than it was to start with, having dismantled and reassembled it! Moving house is rolling a dice. If you want a service that will look after your belongings go for Barleycorn. If you want to try a different service bear in mind my experience that paying less is a false economy when you need to deal with what goes wrong.

Chris’ team did a full pack & move service for us. I cannot recommend them highly enough - super professional team, they all knew their role and worked hard and efficiently together as a team. Chris and his team did an absolutely brilliant job for us this month: they were extremely punctual, efficient, cheerful, and polite. All of our items were delivered safely, including lots of china and a number of plants, without any damage whatsoever. They even helped moved around some of the furniture that was already at our new house, and were kind enough to save a wheel that had fallen off of a chair for over a week until we realized it was missing. We can't recommend them highly enough, and will certainly use them again if the need arises.

The team who moved us worked so hard, nothing was too much trouble, packed carefully and super fast, delivered everything to exactly where it needed to be and found ways around all obstacles. Chris was able to help us out with packing & removal service when we had just 10 days notice of our move. He came the same day as my call to do a survey & I had the quote by 9am the next morning. The rates were comparable & given our unique situation, he even built in a buffer to the quote in case our move went over 2 days so we knew what the extra day would cost if required. The team he sent were friendly, polite & super efficient - they also had great senses of humour & were a joy to have in the house. With a toddler & a newborn, we were fairly disorganised but they worked around us, guiding us on what essentials we needed for our last night & were back bright & early the next day to pack the final bits & move us. They bought an extra team member in for the afternoon to help with unloading and putting the beds back together & had us unpacked within 2 hours of getting the keys to the property. And in a bid to reduce our carbon footprint, Chris also arranged for one his team to come back & collect the boxes and paper once we'd unpacked 90% of our boxes. We used Barleycorn to move us from a larger house to a smaller house, which requires work in the future. This meant that our furniture and possessions had to go in three directions - to the new house immediately, into storage for later transfer to the new house , into separate storage for transfer to another location. We chose Barleycorn having received quotes from several companies since they were competitively priced and came across as knowledgeable and experienced. We were moving from Ascot into storage, to then be delivered to Broadstairs in Kent once the new house was available. Chris and his team were brilliant to deal with, everything ran like clockwork. We wanted to pack ourselves, so they included a good range of boxes & packing material in the quote. They took apart the big furniture and reassembled the other end. He described the specialist range of protective coverings that would be used, e.g. covers for mattresses, soft furnishings, electrical items, plants, etc. The team of five duly arrived and worked with speed, skill, and care, loading and delivering to a 3rd floor apartment and 4th floor terrace. The effort involved was demanding and achieved with a positive and good spirited attitude.

Chris and his team stepped in at the very last minute to help me after another company had double booked themselves and let me down. In fact Chris cut short a trip to meet my family’s need and I honestly don’t know what I would have done without them. Barleycorn successfully moved my home contents from a larger house into a narrow 3 story house that didn’t quite fit the all of my furniture and belongings! Despite the rain and the amount of work involved the Barleycorn team were professional, calm, hard working, courteous and pleasant to be around all day. In terms of protecting my new home this team couldn’t have done more and took many precautions. To fit furniture in through tighter spaces the guys were prepared to remove (and replace!) anything they could such as handrails etc. I could not recommend this company more highly and admit I have never before felt such motivation to leave a review.

The team arrived punctually for my 2-day move and immediately engaged with their customer’s needs and priorities. Wrapping and boxing was carried out with a brilliant team playing approach, and their positive spirit working together was so helpful in easing the inevitable anxieties around the move. The next day the team arrived again in an upbeat mood. Boxes were placed correctly and stacked neatly on arrival; subsequently every single item was located and unwrapped intact. Would definitely recommend - over 2 days they moved me from a big house to a smaller one with difficult access. The quote was very acceptable, and certainly not the most expensive I received, they arrived promptly on time and did an excellent job. All the packing was done with great care including special packaging for delicate items like clocks and canvas paintings. The men were professional, friendly and very understanding of what was quite a stressful move.

Did not get much warning of our moving date and needed to book a removal company with little time. Barleycorn were able to fit us in and were friendly and professional throughout. We used Barleycorn Removals for our removal, they were very professional, clean, tidy and very polite. they made our move out day stress free and dealt with everything, boxing up, moving out of one property and then moving in to the new property making sure all the boxes went to the correct rooms. Following a telephone call to Barleycorn, Chris immediately arranged a home visit. It was an experienced and extremely helpful assessment of what needed to done. Usually companies ask you to empty garden pots but Chris said that this would not be necessary. A real bonus as I have some very heavy pots. On the day of the removal the three men went about their task with a great deal of experience and were polite and friendly. When they arrived at the other property the keys had not been released to me and there was a great deal of confusion with the letting agent, who were very unhelpful. However when Chris heard he asked the men to remain and see the job through. Which they did and remained calm and patient. In the last few years I have moved 5 times and without a doubt Barleycorn has been the most efficient, friendly and fair company that I ever dealt with. Evan to refusing to charge me more despite the fact that the removal men having to spend the whole day at the property. Chris rearranged his rota to accommodate the mix up caused by the letting agent. I do not think you will find a better run company than Barleycorn Removals. They were absolutely marvellous.

Great service from start to finish. I always find house moving very stressful but Chris and the Barleycorn team did everything they could to make this part of the process as relaxed as possible. We opted for the pack and move option and are really glad we did. The day before our move a team of 5 arrived on time, laid down floor protectors before anything else and got to packing. They individually wrapped cups, glasses and anything fragile, dismantled beds and had our whole house contents in the back of the vans in about 6 hours. The next day they met us at our new property, (over 200 miles away) when they said they would. They again protected the floors in the new house and had our beds rebuilt and the boxes in all the right rooms in under 4 hours. Not a single thing was broken in transit and I can't recommend them highly enough.

It was snowing and roads to our house not good but they persisted with good cheer and efficiency. They were very careful with breakables and very helpful negotiating a small access with large items to the extent of having to remove door!! They also put together beds and worked tirelessly until late in the evening when they had to make return journey in icy conditions.

We had advice on preparing for the move, and the day before and on the day his team loaded carefully and efficiently - even managing to extract rather large furniture down narrow stairs with no damage to furniture or stairs. From the moment they arrived at our old house to pack our stuff for storage, where it stayed safe & dry for 3 months. To when they delivered it all to our new home 250 miles away in remote Cumbria. I was recommended to use Barleycorn by one of my family whose mother had used them before. I cannot fault any aspect of their service, from the time Chris Cox came round to discuss the job with me - he was very thorough unlike all the others who I asked to tender - through the removal process on the day and even to coming along to collect the empty boxes a few days after the move. The team were very pleasant and efficient and all the boxes were well labelled and nothing was damaged. While not the cheapest, I would have no hesitation in using Barleycorn again and would certainly recommend them.

Barleycorn are a really lovely team, for whom nothing is too much trouble. Chris the manager took time to work out what we needed and offered us a range of options, which helped us decide what we could do ourselves. Their staff were efficient, practical and kind, especially with our 2 year old daughter. They moved us in just a few hours, breaking nothing. I hadn't expected them to also position our furniture for us, and to be so kind as to ask us if everything was where we wanted it to be and move it if it wasn't. They even returned a few days later to pick up unwanted boxes to be reused, so that we didn't have to throw them away. They feel like an old fashioned company in all the right ways and have the can-do attitude of a modern one. We will use them again without getting other quotes.

Chris and his team recently moved us from reading to wales; a house-full of furniture that included fiddly bits such as a piano. I couldn't fault them- reliable, well organised and polite, and very good value for money for the level of service provided. (They were also tolerant of our toddler and dogs- no mean dear!)
