Blakes Security Systems Ltd is an established family run business, recognised as approved 24 hour master locksmiths. Over the years we have built an extensive customer base in the domestic, commercial and public sector. We are based in Rochester and operate throughout the South East.
We provide a complete locksmith, security consultancy and installation service. Specialising in burglary prevention, intruder alarm systems, CCTV, access control, door entry systems, master suited locks and UPVC locking mechanisms repairs.
Our shop offers key cutting services. Ranging from domestic household keys to vehicle, safe, antique, church, padlock and security keys. We stock a large range of ironmongery, UPVC locking mechanisms, padlocks, a vast array of door locks, security cylinders and safes.

The locking mechanism on an outside door failed on a Saturday afternoon making the house insecure. My telephone call was answered very quickly and the lady to whom I spoke was very helpful and reassuring, arranging a locksmith's visit for that same afternoon. He arrived very quickly, and immediately diagnosed the fault. He showed us the failed component and offered a choice of replacements. We agreed that he would replace the faulty lock with a high quality 3* British Standard Anti-Bump/Pick/Snap security cylinder. He took the door locking strip to the company workshop and returned extremely quickly with the new locking system installed, together with the number of keys we required. and new handles. This was fitted to the door. He checked that the lock was operating smoothly and that the door was closing snugly. The job was competitively priced for this high-quality product and for the faultless workmanship. The locksmith was friendly and courteous throughout and did not rush the job. I have known this company for 40 years and would give them the highest possible recommendation.

I called them to fit new locks to secure my mother-in-law's vacant home. They were responsive to the urgency, fitting us into a cancellation and considerate about timing given we had a two hour journey to get there. On the day, Mr Blake arrived promptly. He immediately established that the locks on the rear doors did not need to be changed to make the premises secure, saving us a lot of money. He was efficient in changing the lock on the front door and adjusting the door frame for a better, more secure fit.

Blakes Security supplied 5 exterior Chubb door locks, 2 of which turned out to be faulty (manufacturing error), after notifying them Blakes immediately promised to replace the faulty locks, and they would raise the issue with the manufacturers. Cliff Blake arrived on my doorstep at 7:30 am in Northants. to replace the two faulty locks having driven from the Medway area - a drive of 2hrs. Superb customer care and support.

I contacted Blakes in early 2019 to quote on a replacement eight locks in four doors, with a master key system. My first contact with the company was on the phone, and I was impressed by how helpful they were even with a tentative enquiry. Shortly after this conversation I visited the shop on Medway City Estate and was once again impressed with the level of customer service provided - I had lots of questions and care was taken over answering each one. In the following fortnight Blakes visited my home to survey and quote, and the work was carried out within two months - all according to the quote and agreed timeline. Everyone who I dealt with throughout was very polite and helpful, and the work was carried out quickly. Subsequent to the installation I had a problem with one lock on my front door resulting in me being locked out. I called Blakes about this and the owner of the company was on site within an hour - and the problem was fixed permanently. I have nothing but good things to say about Blakes - I'll be returning to them for any and all future security requirements.

This company is in my opinion extremely expensive! My advice to anyone wishing to use them is to get an estimate first! And hold them to it! I have been sent an invoice for over £500 for a lock repair! If I had had a typed estimate up front, at least I could have shopped around for more cost effective quotes. The work is done, the lock is working but I do feel as though I’ve been taken advantage of. The customer service is fine, the quality we will just have to keep our fingers crossed. Just saying.

Blake’s Security Systems provide an excellent professional service. Mr Blake provides the perfect system to suit your own personal needs. The fitting was done calmly and highly efficiently. There were no issues with them in my home and they were very polite and showed extreme professionalism. When they left my home it was spotless and there was no evidence of any work being carried out. I have used Blakes for many years but most recently for the installation of new alarm system and new locks throughout the property and a safe. From start to finish they have all been consummate professionals and have put me at ease. From the young man in the shop who supplied me brochures and talked me through my options at length, to the lady on the phone who was extremely courteous and made us aware throughout the whole job when people would arrive. James & Jacob who fitted our alarm were so professional and tidy. I had expected a lot of mess from the work but the house was left immaculate which was a huge relief! I am truly delighted with all of the work and the quality of all the equipment installed is top-notch and looks very smart. Mr Blake is extremely knowledgeable and has given me an exceptional amount of time allaying my worries and giving advice. At no point was pushed in any way or to get anything that was not required. The whole team are a delight!

UPVC Door locking mechanism repaired

My UPVC kitchen door had decided to remain permanently closed and locked. I phoned Blakes and explained the issue. At their request I sent some pictures by email so that they could identify the door type and components. An appointment was made for the next day. The engineer arrived on time. The locking mechanism was removed and a new gearbox was installed and all necessary adjustments and lubrication made. The repairs were explained. The service was professional with proper regard to my home. I am writing this after receipt of the invoice. The price charged was good value for the excellent service on site and the administration at the office. I would not hesitate to use them again or recommend their services to others.

I needed a replacement lock for my front door and contacted Blakes after finding their details on this site. The Engineer arrived at the exact time scheduled, diagnosed the issue and proceeded to replace the cylinder. Mechanical parts were lubricated and the door was adjusted. It is actually better than it was before. I also needed extra keys cut and these were ordered and waiting for me when I arrived at the shop. A very professional, courteous service with excellent workmanship. I will not hesitate using Blakes again if the need arises and also recommending them.

We have previously used Blakes for keys, but on this occasions needed the locking systems on five doors overhauled / refurbished. After a preparatory visit from Blakes, we decided to replace the locks on three doors and refurbish the other two. Everything is now good and we are very pleased with the outcome. Whilst Blakes may not be the cheapest, their products and the workmanship are excellent. Great work. Friendly staff. We would have no hesitation using Blakes in the future and highly recommend them.

I have used Blakes for many years and always found them very helpful and efficient. We recently had a burglary while in the property, luckily disturbing them in the process, thieves took various car keys, all house keys, cash, wallets etc. Blakes took control and arranged, new locks, blocking of car keys and generally helping, which has been much appreciated as I was very stressed out by the incident. I first contacted Blakes Security as an emergency callout due to the alarm beeping. James arrived and after fixing the fault checked the entire system, making recommendations for an upgrade. I then had to call again for a lock repair and Mr.Blake arrived in 10 minutes to fit a temporary barrel so we were able to use the door! After James' visit and sound advice, I decided to go ahead with the first stage of work to the property. This was completed in a most professional manner with minimal disruption. Whilst here they adjusted the timing of the sensor motions on floodlights as well. We discussed options for additional work which will be completed at second stage. I am confident that further visits will meet the high standard of professional expertise that Blakes have demonstrated. I certainly would not hesitate to recommend this excellent Company to anyone!

The multi-point lock on the back door at my parent's house failed late in the afternoon. I was at work about 3 hours drive away, so called Blakes in Strood at 4.30pm. At 5pm one of their engineers arrived on his way home, and fixed the lock to make the house secure again. They were very honest in advising getting a new door as further repairs would be uneconomical due to the age of the existing door and scarcity of parts. Have used Blakes before and am always reassured by their openness and sound advice. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending them to anyone needing an honest appraisal of work needed.

The quotation arrived as expected giving full information on a full security system and installation of a CCTV system. After agreeing price advised of date for installation and how long it would take. Contacted prior to start of work to ensure date was still convenient. The multipoint lock on our double glazed front door broke so we could not lock it. We have porch doors so we were still secure. Mr Blake came as arranged, removed the very old looking device with some difficulty, and as we are old and decrepit and had a doctors appointment the next day, went off to find a replacement, returned and continued working until the job was completed. Such service is rare now.
