D C Groves & Son

I had things all over the place but the men packed it all for me in boxes. They were polite and pleasant. It was pouring with rain with arrived at the destination property but the men cheerfully moved everything in for me and completed everything the same day. They went above and beyond.

I could not have asked for a better removal experience for my elderly brother in law. Anthony was so very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for him. He and his colleague, were very friendly, calm, and did everything smoothly and competently. They went out of their way to accommodate us in the move from one place to the other, and just made the whole move enjoyable, instead of stressful. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I have been a customer of D C Groves for around 20 Years for Residential and Commercial moves and storage. They are consistently professional, helpful and careful with our belongings. This move was a 3 day house to house move. I am again very happy with the process, cost and all the members of the team.

We had them empty our house for a new flooring and decorating project. We were out of the UK for the duration of the project, including the removal, storage, and return of our belongings. They were prompt, careful, and meticulous, even though we the homeowners weren't there. Overall, we're very satisfied with their work. The crews were very professional, and the office staff were friendly and communicated promptly. We had a couple of fairly significant glitches with them: we were double invoiced once, and they didn't take pictures of the rooms in our house so they'd know where the furniture pieces should be returned. In both cases, they made good on the glitches in a professional and responsible manner. I can live with mistakes as long as the trader corrects the mistakes promptly and courteously, which this trader most certainly did.

In very early 2021, after 40 years, notwithstanding the 'Pandemic', we 'downsized' and under the personal involvement and supervision of Groves, large amounts of sentimental and valued 'stuff' was efficiently and securely packaged, for storage, into D C Groves own 'storage' where, until recently, it remained. Much of it has now been delivered 'out of storage', 23rd Jan.'24, to our home in High Suffolk. Our 'unpacking' of boxes reveals the skilled efficiency of the original packing, masses of paper and bubblewrap, and most importantly - no breakages nor damages to fragile items, pictures and paintings. We compliment Anthony and Karen for the Firm's staff training, courtesy, and consequent operating efficiency.

I was pleased with the service when DC Groves moved me to Tenterden five years ago, so asked them to quote when some furniture needed to be moved here from my late parent's home in south London. As before I received a calm and efficient service at the time we agreed which I felt was also good value for money.

DC Groves have now moved me three times and they have always been professional, efficient, tidy and a pleasure to deal with. This time they packed up a 4 bed, three floor farm house and moved us to our new property. Not a single item was broken or missing and the whole process was as easy and stress free as they could possibly make it! I would have absolutely no hesitation in using them again and would recommend them to anyone, whatever size move.

Amazing service from start to end. Ian came to give us a written quote which explained the removal process in detail. Pippa in the office sorted the paperwork and the guys arrived on time everyday and worked long hours to get the job done. They were at all times polite and patient, and worked well as a team. They packed our antiques and fragile items for us extremely carefully and placed everything in our new home where we asked. Can’t fault the amazing service. Thank you to everyone involved.

The three operative team who moved us were very professional and helpful throughout the whole move, nothing was too much trouble if asked to move any item from room to room at our new home. The office staff were also all very helpful and the director who carried out the survey and quoted for the move came across as very knowledgeable as to the logistics of moving. We would certainly recommend this company for any one looking to move house.

This was a fairly small move, however we came unstuck with a large cupboard and a small staircase. The 2 guys tried at least 6 different ways to try and get it up the stairs. They really didn’t want to be defeated but sadly it was my fault for not measuring correctly. Super helpful, very professional and amazing team work with these two guys. I cannot thank them enough and will definitely use them again.

What can one but say but brilliant. Groves came the day before our move and organised everything to be moved into the order they would be transferred to our new home. The employees of the company were well mannered and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. It was a pleasure moving if moving house can ever be a pleasure but Groves certainly helped us cope with the move which was the first in 32 years.

The team from Groves were brilliant from the first inspection right through to the final move and collection of all the boxes and packing paper. We opted to use the packing service given the amount of valuable glass, china and objects that we currently own. We also opted to use the storage facility to ensure that we moved out on the date we had chosen and moved to our new address once we had completed work on the empty property. In all cases the team were always on time, quick, careful and efficient in their work and very pleasant company around the house. The cost was also excellent value all round. There has been no damage to any of our property throughout the move. Selling and buying houses is incredibly stressful and by the end of the process we were exhausted, so it was really important that the move did not add to that stress. We can honestly say it was a pleasure to have Groves work for us and the move was as easy as the time 36 years ago when they moved us to the house we have just sold.

We’ve used this company once before and couldn’t fault them but that was 12 years ago. Called them to quote on moving a family member into sheltered accommodation. They arrived on time and packed her belongings perfectly. The lift wasn’t working and it made their job very difficult but Steve and John were amazing. Thanks also to Ian for all his tips and professionalism with dealing with us. It’s nice to deal with such a lovely company once again.

D c Groves helped me move and into their storage, and back home again after six weeks as my house purchase fell through. They were very helpful and careful with my furniture with no damage which is amazing. The cost was very fair and I will certainly use them again when I find a new home!

We can't speak highly enough of the team at Groves who moved me to Wales recently, which included a full pack and move into storage for 8 weeks and then bringing my belongings to my new property. Nothing was too much trouble for the team and this took a lot of the stress away for me having not moved for 51 years! D C Groves and Son proved to be professional and flexible with my ever moving dates. I needed to store items before a move into my new property and I found the storage quote and conditions very good. Both moves were punctual and efficiently completed by friendly accomodating staff. The only negative was since the access was difficult on the second move the movers had only 1 trolley availible for two people and so the unloading would have taken longer than necessary had we not helped out. I cannot fault the service done with a smile and delivered exactly as quoted.

I can not praise the company of D C Groves & Son highly enough. From the first contact to arrange a quote, and through the whole process to the actual moving date they were extremely friendly, professional and obliging. Moving home is rarely easy, and they totally appreciate and did their utmost to accommodate the continual change of moving date. I elected to have the packing service and this proved invaluable, done in half the time it would have taken me and everything was packed very thoroughly and arrived at the new home safely and all in one piece. Like all house moves I was not looking forward to the upheaval, stress and chaos that moving house inevitably causes but this was not so with what I experienced with D C Groves & Son and particularly Andy and his amazing team of men who actually carried out my move. Apart from their efficiency and professionalism Nothing was too much trouble , no task beyond them and all requests were carried out cheerfully and extremely efficiently I have never experienced such hardworking men, who in my opinion went well beyond anything I was expecting in the care and packing up of my possessions. Everything went like clockwork, with might I add at times a great deal of humour, laughter and fun too, which is what is needed at this stressful time They were a joy to have around I cannot find enough words to praise them. I am still trying to take in just how much they achieved in one day. This is my 2nd move using D.C Groves, and I would highly recommend them. The team arrived on Thurs to start packing up & loading and finished packing and loading Fri morning, I was in the new house and fully unloaded by mid-afternoon. I totally didn't consider the fact that the new house front and internal doors were smaller/narrower than the old house, but the team rose to the challenge of getting my couches over the garden fence and in through the patio doors and again with the office desk having to be dismantled and reassembled (which weren't part of the moving plan) - but nothing was too much trouble, super helpful, friendly and cheerful, for me they made the whole move stress free and I just needed to point to where the furniture/boxes were going and make tea which was the least I could do.

Follow up contact with Pippa and her colleagues at the office was efficient and friendly and the team (Andy, John, Andrew and Jack) who packed up the house in one day and carried out the move and unpacking three days later were incredibly polite, friendly and hard-working. We had a complicated move, some things going in to long-term storage and some into short-term at Groves' own warehouse. The initial survey was carried very efficiently and the removals done with great care over two days. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The price was reasonable compared to another estimate we obtained. Highly recommended.

This was a little move out of storage and I’ve done several in 3 years with Tenterden Removals including a big one! Such a warm and incredibly efficient company/brand, they’re almost like family now! Nothing is too much trouble from multiple quotes for all possible scenarios you’re mulling over to on the day hand-holding. Everything carefully packed and I was able to donate to charity furniture I didn’t need, so helpful. Can’t recommend them highly enough! Delighted!

We hadn't moved house for a long time and were naturally concerned about how difficult it would be. DC Groves were really helpful and it soon became apparent that they knew precisely what they were doing and nothing was too much trouble even when it came to lifting furniture through an upstairs window. They just took everything in their stride and knew what would work. They took a lot of care loading, unloading and moving stuff around - nothing broken or scratched which was a relief as we packed ourselves. This is probably down to the loads of advice and guidance they gave about how to pack in to boxes safely. They were only a bit above the lowest quote we received so we couldn't have done any better.

We booked D C Groves to move us from Kent to Shropshire. The whole process from visiting to quote to follow up call after our move was a dream. A lovely and pleasant team to work with. The guys on move days were professional, polite, respectful, prepared and a joy to have around. Thank you to the whole team.

We chose Groves as they were able to move us over 2 days when other companies wanted 3 days. The team were very pleasant and efficient and carried out the removals under the most horrendous weather. They then had a very difficult journey to Portsmouth but were with us the next day bright and early as promised. They wrapped up our delicates very well and we didn't have any breakages. A couple of the boxes did get wet which couldn't be helped but the team waited while we checked the contents and they were happy that no damage had been done. All in all we were very pleased with the service we received which was carried out within the time frame and price quoted.

We have just moved from Kent to Dorset with Tenterden Removals /D C Groves. The quotation process was fast and efficient and they provided a very competitive quote. Moving is not cheap but we decided to go with the packing and move option. Well worth it ! The move out day although stressful was alleviated by a prompt arrival as agreed. John ( our move manager ) and the great lads got on with the packing and worked very hard. They were cheerful, courteous and packed our belongings with the utmost care. On move in day, after a very early start for them, John and the team arrived on time. They quickly and carefully moved all our belongings into our new house. Nothing was too much trouble. Having not moved for 20 years and approached the whole process with some trepidation. We were very pleased with John and the team and would not hesitate to recommend them to others. Just one learning opportunity, from the quote to the move day we had sent a couple of e mails re the status of the exchange as we did not want to lose our 'slot' and later also making slight amendments to the items we were taking. We did not receive much of a response so we would recommend better and more friendly communications via e mail or phone from their head office. That said as we now sit in our new home, we are pleased we chose Tenterden Removals/ D C Groves.

D C Groves & Son were very responsive from the start, arranging a survey quickly and providing a quotation efficiently. The removal team arrived on time, were very courteous and humorous. They packed the house during the day, taking good care of the furniture and effects and proved very amiable and conscientious. A first-class service - highly recommended!

D C Groves moved the contents of my second floor London flat to Kent. The company quoted promptly for the work and were extremely professional throughout the process, responding to queries quickly and efficiently. On the day of the move the van arrived well on time. The removal team were polite and friendly, they worked hard and took great care loading and unloading the van and nothing was too much trouble, nothing was marked or damaged. I have no hesitation in recommending this company.

The quote came through very quickly after the initial visit, and removal to storage included multiple smaller vehicles because of restricted access which saved me a whole lot of aggro. On the day the guys handled it all very well. When we eventually got to the other end, again restricted access but 2 guys with 2 trucks made light work of the whole thing, getting stuck right into it even after a 4-hour + journey.

DC Groves were excellent...from the first request for a quote, right through to completing the move. The guys turned up on time to pack the day before the move, and this level of service continued throughout. They were polite, professional, exceptionally hard-working and very efficient. I would recommend D C Groves removals as they made a very stressful time as easy as they could. Our move took a lot of planning as we moved from Kent to Devon over three days. When we arrived at our new home in Devon on moving day [ late in the day] the removal team had already arrived and had unloaded the garden and shed items so did not waste anytime. They returned the following morning to finish unloading and they were very careful with all they moved. I would recommend them to anyone.

We engaged D C Groves & Son to assist with our move from Kent to Lincolnshire. Much of the stuff was packed by us, so it was primarily a case of collection, placing into the lorry, transporting to Lincolnshire and delivering it to our new property. D C Groves had previously attended our property to assess requirements, and provide a quote. This was very competitive and accepted. We were then kept regularly informed regarding the move date, and time we could expect them. They arrived on time, and proceeded to load the lorry. There were two guys and they were charming. Loaded the lorry meticulously, taking every care required. Items that had not been packed by us were put into protective coverings, and great care taken. On the day of delivery to our new house, they telephoned to advise arrival time, and were very prompt. They were again extremely efficient. We cannot praise the service we received more. It was excellent. We would highly recommend this company.

What an outstanding company! Our move took place over six days, shifting a total of 5,500 cubic metres (twenty of Groves’ wooden containers) into store on some of the hottest days this year. Anthony and his crew had such an incredible can-do attitude, always finding a way to solve every challenge. The move from store to our new home, several hundred miles away, was accomplished over another six separate days; this time Groves had to negotiate winding lanes, tight turns and torrential rain. Still their lorries got through and the unloading was performed with great care, good humour and in complete safety, respecting all Covid-19 precautions. What makes Groves outstanding is their consistent and reassuring communication and how they accommodated our ever-changing completion date. First class in every way!

D. C. Groves (Tenterden Removals) moved all my possessions out of my house in East Sussex 18 months ago and have stored it until Monday when it was delivered to me in my new house in Dorset. They have been very pleasant to work with. The removers themselves were amazingly efficient - no scratched doors or furniture - and all done very quickly. Anthony and his team did an excellent job of moving us from a 3 bedroom house to a smaller bungalow, we hadn’t moved for 25 years so it was quite a challenge with so much stuff and not to mention all the pot plants. At first sight, asking D.C.Groves to move us from our old house into a new apartment might not seem challenging - the two properties were barely 100 yards apart! However, on the day of our move a storm hit the UK, and Anthony Groves and his team had to contend with howling winds and lashing rain. Deeply unpleasant...
