I discovered both of our external drains blocked, causing foul water to spill all over our back yard. Pretty much stopping us from running any water. Using Which? I found DHC and called them, Ray answered immediately but because he was driving asked me to send details and photos via WhatsApp. Just over an hour later, a reasonable quote was sent and an offer to come the next day! Ray and his colleague turned up on time, checked the problem thoroughly and the jetted the blockages away. They were careful to work around some landscaping and didn’t create any mess. I’m a very happy customer and will happily use their skills again.

On Easter Monday, the drain from the kitchen was completely blocked and overflowing, and the bathroom drain (basin and bath) not right either. I suspected the sewage drain might be blocked, so (advised by DHC whom I had phoned) I reported the problem on Tuesday to United Utilities (UU) who booked a job. By Friday, UU had not come and the drain had not improved - meaning we couldn't use the washing machine or much water for anything. I phoned DHC again and they agreed to come and diagnose what the problem was, warning me that they wouldn't be able to fix a sewage pipe problem. The young man they sent, Niall, was excellent - used a manhole camera and diagnosed that the shared drain with our neighbour was blocked and collapsing. He showed me on the screen of the camera and allowed me to take a picture on my phone. He advised me to contact UU again and to stress the urgency. He was calm and efficient and explained everything clearly. He also reassured me that UU's work would not be charged to me.// I would like to say that both Ray, in the office, and Niall were very good to deal with. I would certainly use them again if needed.

Replacing drain cover and frame

I had the brick filled drain cover (looks nice with the brick drive!) which is impossible to open without distorting the frame and the cover that sits in it, after an inspection the old frame needed to be replaced. DHC recommended replacing this with the standard frame and drain cover. DHC removed the old frame, cemented the new standard frame in place with cover and cut the bricks to go around the drain frame so that it looked very nice in the drive - excellent job and no mess left behind

We have an early Victorian with a very early Victorian drainage system, which we have discovered that is prone to blockages over the 5 years we have lived here. Consequently we are the proud owners of a full set of rods and accessories. Nevertheless some blockages are too resistant to our unblocking efforts. Ray came the same day to rescue us. He made light work of the unblocking, a fat berg was blocking a u-bend at the end of the drainage system before the foul waste discharges into the sewers. He explained all this, he cleaned it up after him and gave us some very good advice about how to prevent it re-occurring. And he was lovely too. I am a very, very happy customer.

Ray came to unblock a drain, he dug out an access point and removed the blockage then identified a tree root coming through with his mole, he offered to remove this and told us the price and said it might not provide a permanent solution but a liner would, he successfully removed the roots and has quoted for a new lining, he also identified a further issue outside of our perimeter. we had been worried that a newly laid drive would have to be dug up! Ray was professional, hard working, capable and knows his drains.

A sunken and cracked sewer pipe had to be replaced. Ray provided a solution that minimised cost and disruption. Work was completed on time and the property left clean. Communication was excellent and we felt confident that were any post-installation issues to arise, they would be addressed promptly.

The problem? A Victorian drainage system that entailed excavation work and rerouting. This entailed tracing the old pipework and rerouting all drainage from the house and outhouses. Ray, Dan and Niall arrived at the specified time and work was completed in the time promised. The price was fair and to a high standard. I cannot praise these hard workers enough. It was a difficult job carried out professionally and with minimum disruption to ourselves and neighbours. I would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

I was recommended DHC by a friend as we had problems with our water pressure (too low so couldn't use shower properly while downstairs taps were running etc). Ray came round, took a look & quoted a good price to fit new water supply pipe to the house. He came & did the job as planned once I'd asked him to. Great, rapid work by Ray - friendly, helpful & good price. Our water pressure has increased notably thanks to his work

We wanted a drain survey which was completed using a camera to check for blockages or damage. Price quoted upfront. Very pleasant and helpful people who completed a thorough survey. Thankfully drains were clear and in good condition so no more work needed. Would definitely use this company again.

I discovered I had a leak under my kitchen floor that turned out to be a leak from the lead water mains supply. I contacted Ray and he arranged to come out and view the job very quickly. He then quoted quickly and booked me in to come and fit a new mains water supply to my house within the week. I was really nervous about the work as it involved digging up my drive and my taking up my internal floors, however the work was completed in one day with minimal disruption. They were really clean with their work and worked flat out to complete quickly and efficiently. I have no hesitation in recommending him.
