Helpful, efficient company. Went beyond reasonable expectations
Over the last month we noticed that our cellar which had always been a bit damp was starting to have a definite water leak in one corner. We contacted Ray's company DHC via Which? local and he very helpfully sent a guy out to do a full camera survey. Unfortunately I did not get his name, but he was very friendly and most assiduous, actively checking all possible drains and pipework and investigating them. This in truly awful weather with the rain pouring down.He found no problems with the drains he had surveyed but did find a possible source with a blocked drain beneath some vegetation. The next day I contacted Ray for advice re next steps and shortly afterwards, on his way back from another job, he arrived and checked both our mains supply pipe, all OK, and the blocked drain. He then, very helpfully, advised us that as the blocked drain was a shared pipe United Utilities were responsible and would sort it out without charge! Ray then refused to take any payment for his visit and went on his way. We found him both helpful, honest and professional and would happily use his company again. FootNote: U.U.are in the process of sorting out our blocked drain! Thank you Ray.

With the contents of my soil pipe discharging into the cellar of my older house under loads of concrete, this wasn't an easy job. I didn't really know who to trust and know nothing about drains but Ray and his team know their stuff. Upfront re costs, and what was involved. On the day the lads were polite, cheerful and got straight to work, completing the job within the day. Would 100% recommend

Ray did a great job replacing our water mains pipe. He was very clear about the work he would do, communicated clearly and carried the work out efficiently and to an excellent standard. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ray to anyone.

Came out at short notice to see what needed to be done to resolve my immediate problem, and returned next day to replace a cracked 90+ year old gully and a 2 meter section of pipe work. Work completed tidily and at agreed price. CCTV survey carried out and photos sent to me, indicating further work required further along the drain. Helpful and pleasant to deal with. Will definitely use again.

Disappointed
Because of the Trusted Trader certification, I gave DHC’s number to my elderly mother who had blocked drains. She phoned them twice on 11th June and left a message on both occasions but they did not phone her back. At the very least I would have expected a courtesy call to say they were too busy to come out. Not the service I expect from a Which Trusted Trader.

Ray was thoroughly professional throughout our dealings. He knew there could be delays from U.U. due to the site location and that turned out to be the case. The moving of the new water main, was completed in a day, with minimal fuss or mess. Ray's regular updates (even on holiday) were much appreciated during the United Utilities delays (2 months).
