We offer a personal and professional service within all sectors of the removal industry, with all our staff undergoing extensive training and CRB checks to give peace of mind that your goods are in safe hands. As a longstanding WHICH? member I thought we had selected the best. Pay well get well. How wrong we were. The initial estimator seemed knowledgeable gave us quotes and options. We accepted the quote, and agreed a move date. Packers arrived on time, one employed by Smith's and other by another company. When they turned up, they knew in advance they would have to disable our furniture but they turned up with no tools. We gave clear instructions and let them pack. This was a mistake. Little did we know they consolidated our belongings into various different boxes, and didn't even even use the preprinted location/identification labels on the boxes. We also noted all staff except foremen where from other companies...... Arrived at our new home (a spotless new build) where they unloaded the boxes and our belongings. During this time they damaged the property walls, dropped the top of our lovely wooden dining room on the drive, and we later found several of our belongings were damaged by the packers. Four weeks later we were still unable to find some of stuff belongings. Advised the company who sent an insurance claim form, which says £50 excess per claim and 30 day max claim period after job. Please do not use this company, either we were incredibly unlucky or ............ If you do use them insist as a condition of the contract they only use their own staff if you value your belongings.

We booked packing and removal service from a 3 bedroom split level flat to a 5 bedroom house. Lee, John and Charlie were brilliant on the moving day, and made our day stress free. They showed up on time and early, dissemble the furnitures and loaded to the truck before midday. Everything were packed safely and no damage at all. We can’t thank them enough for their hard work on quite a hot day! Highly recommended and will definitely use F Smith & son again.

Customer service was extremely good from initial survey of the move, to the reliability of the move team. Very friendly but also professional. The guys worked extremely hard during the heatwave, arrived on time, packaged everything very well and carried some very heavy furniture up stairs for us. Amazing job! Would recommend.

Excellent service from F Smith and Son. No-pressure quote was competitive with others. Excellent service from the removal team that loaded up the vans, hard-working, friendly and efficient. They took care of everything, easing our worries about our move. We had to use their storage facilities for 6 weeks, and the delivery of everything onto our new home was just as good. Nothing broken or damaged! Thank you everyone!

I experienced great service from start to finish. My circumstances were tricky as I exchanged and completed on the same day so I could only confirm and finalise my booking the night before moving! The team on the day worked really hard and nothing was too difficult for them. Everything went smoothly with zero damages. I highly recommend this company. You get what you pay for with removal companies and these guys were worth every penny.

That ran from the individual who surveyed my flat and moving needs, the drop off of the packing materials, the two individuals who moved my boxes and furniture out of my old flat into my new home, and the office staff who processed the payments. We used F Smith for our recent home removal. The 5 lads who loaded the vans on 11th January were really efficient and friendly and took great care. The vans were unloaded to our new home on 15th January with equal efficiency and care by 3 operatives. All were very helpful, flexible, polite and cheerful. I had a complex move having to pick up items from another removalist, with whom I had had an altercation, and deliver to my residence. The items in question were to be hoisted three floors down to the lowest floor. It took a while to agree a date because I had to resolve insurance issues with the previous removalist. F. Smith and Son was a pleasure to deal with right from the start to the end of the move. Their admin team (Lorraine) was incredibly professional. The quote was thorough and they took their time to understand the terrain. Mr Smith's communication was professional and timely and consistent as we were delayed in confirming a date. The moving crew on the day were skilled, professional and polite. They knew exactly what they were doing and got on with it with absolutely no drama. I would have no hesitation in recommending them and using them again myself.

We had an excellent service from F Smith & Son, comprising removals from house into storage, storage, and removals from storage into new house. The pre-move assessment and discussions were very friendly and professional, and very understanding of late changes and options. On the day, our removals team were efficient, tidy, and very careful - psying close attention to our wishes, while often offering suggestions. And between dates, we had clear, simple and regular communications. At all times, inspiring confidence that our possessions were being well looked after. We were very impressed with the estimator. Compared to the other companies we approached, we felt that we were treated as individuals. We were not some part of a process that required us to sign endless disclaimers. The office staff were also friendly and efficient The removal men themselves were also excellent - nothing was too much trouble. I would happily recommend F S Smith if you have a house removal to undertake (we went for the full packing service and have no regrets - it was the right decision for us).

Our move went smoothly thanks to the fantastic guys who did the removals. It was a bit worrying as our stuff was going all the way from Surrey to Yorkshire the day before we did but everything run like clockwork. The guys loaded up in a professional and timely manner and a friend let them in the house in Yorkshire and said What great guys they were. They treated our property with care and respect . Extremely satisfied with all aspects of our move to another local property. The team arrived very punctually and worked continually over the day of packing, which they did. There was plenty of (some paid for by us) material to pack our own delicate/personal items. We had some awkwardly placed pieces of furniture to take out and, with great ingenuity and good humour, they succeeded without any damage. I don’t want to single out any one particular team member - they were all great, worked extremely hard over the moving day too, were very helpful and friendly. There were no extra costs, only very minor damage - all at a very competitive price. Overall very happy with our experience moving with FH Smith - thank you again to the guys!🙂

The company really care about their workers ensuring they receive breaks, and training, and are fit and knowledgeable. The workers moved my furniture with care and precision, were fit and able to work at pace, and knew when to break and what challenges to tackle first. I was completely overwhelmed at how quickly one person built my old bed frame. It would have taken me many hours to do on my own. They were a very well match pair who had different strengths and were open about what they found challenging. The teamwork was fantastic. They remembered things I forgot such as covering my mattress. The whole day was soooo calm as they were so reliable and took control. Expensive but I guess very worth it as I had zero hassle. The office staff were super too.

What a top tip, from the first meeting with our estimator (Steve) very professional to contact with the staff at and finally with the team who worked with us over two days led by Chris & Lee with Jim& Conner. F Smith & Sons moved us from Surrey to Co. Durham. The move took 3 days which was the agreed timeframe. They were recommended to us and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to others. The driver communicated with us by text and was good enough to do a slight detour. They were polite and efficient in the packing, loading, delivering and unloading. They rebuilt a triple wardrobe and a desk as previously agreed. I was impressed by their processes, a very professional outfit. The staff in the office have always been friendly and approachable.
