Finally decided to change the lights in our living and dining room to spotlights. Ian very kindly came around to have a look at our existing layout as well as get an understanding of what we wanted. Lockdown meant working from home in the winter months we just didn’t have enough light, with our living room never having had a main centre light. Ian very kindly listened to our ideas before offering some solutions. He showed some pictures of how things would look in both rooms. He also explained how he would need to fix the lights. One was working from the rooms above (which meant more work as it involved pulling up carpets and floorboards) or cutting a channel in the ceiling. This was less work but meant the channel would need to be filled in (he recommended someone to do the plastering). Ian measured out where the lights would go, 10 in one room and 4 in the other, then checked with us that we were happy before cutting the channel into the ceiling. I was expecting a lot of noise and dust but Ian made sure there was dust sheets down and cleaned up as he went so there was very little dust in the room. He also very kindly explained about the safety of earthing the wiring and as part of the work he did this as well. He explained the difference in spotlights and their respective brightness, all of which he ordered for us. He also fitted dimmer switches on our request. Our rooms are now brighter than ever. We can’t recommend Ian enough. Definitely a trusted electrician.

Had to contact Ian about an old damaged cable running from the fuse box in a property I’d just moved into. He arrived on time and removed and replaced the damaged part of the cable and installed a junction box to join up the new cable. As always Ian was friendly, professional and able to answer any questions about all things electrical.

Living 'overseas' as they like to say, and renting out my house in Hertfordshire long term, it is no easy task finding good tradespeople. In 2017 I found Ian Foreman on Which Local and gave him the job of replacing the smoke and fire alarms. Since then Ian has replaced the kitchen downlights with LED, done two EICR certifications, replaced the fuseboard to the latest safety standard, installed other odds and ends as required over the years and even fixed the door handle on a kitchen cupboard. Ian quickly established himself as my number one trusted go-to guy (another horrible modern expression but there you are, that's progress). My tenant loves him; anything she needs, he jumps on it immediately, once even on Christmas Eve! He is a great guy, a top quality professional and I just hope he enjoys doing jobs for me as much as I enjoy having him at the end of a telephone. As to the boring stuff: his work is top quality (also confirmed by my tenant and my letting agent, in case you're wondering) and his prices very fair; he is efficient, clean and tidy, prompt, a top communicator, etc. etc., you know the spiel. Bottom line: I can't recommend Ian highly enough. Long may he blow your fuses...

Ian was recommended via a work colleague for completing work to a high standard and charging competitive rates. We had a socket in a bedroom that was not in use. Ian came round to investigate and gave a clear breakdown of the work that needed to be completed and the costs involved. Whilst completing the job, Ian spotted another issue with our electrical board and after checking with us, he completed that work too. Ian is professional and friendly, and I would not hesitate to recommend or use him again.

I found Ian through Age UK and Which?. We had a problem with some of the lights at our property. Ian came round and carried out a fault finding on the lighting circuit, charged the RCBO in the fuse board and sorted the problem. He seemed to know exactly what was wrong and explained this to us. Ian is very honest, professional, and friendly. He even asked if the lights were working after he left. It was such a pleasure dealing with Ian. I would highly recommend him.
