Gavin responded to my initial enquiry very promptly and provided me with a quote very quickly after his first visit. I explained that I am a very anxious person who worries about everything! He put me at my ease that no question was a silly question which gave me the confidence to go ahead with the work involved. Two other electricians I had approached didn't seem interested in helping me make the right decisions so I was confident that Gavin was the right person for the job. Gavin arrived on time each time, had everything with him that he needed and worked very methodically from start to finish. He was extremely hard working and conscientious. The work carried out included carrying out a safety inspection, installing a new consumer board, disconnecting and disposing of a storage heater (which was a very dirty job that he cleaned up thoroughly afterwards) and wiring for an additional socket. I have already booked him for another couple of jobs. I have no hesitation in recommending Gavin.

Following an Electrical Survey of my property by G and L Home Improvements and some work was required. This has been completed and have been very impressed with the work done, which was undertaken very efficiently with no fuss.

Gavin helped me to sort out a number of electrical issues in my mother's house, to get it ready for letting out. He was pleasant, helpful and came up with intelligent solutions to the many problems we discovered. The house is now electrically safe, with a certificate for the letting agents, and we are extremely pleased with every aspect of his work. We would recommend him without hesitation.

We needed to replace our ageing oven, hob and cooker hood / extractor. I contacted Gavin because the suppliers did not offer an installation service for the hood. We agreed a price and installation date, and Gavin agreed to dispose of the removed items, but warned me that there would be a fee for disposal. The price agreed was very reasonable. He arrived promptly on the scheduled date. He was a pleasant chap, friendly and polite, and very helpful. The installation of the oven and hob was straightforward, but the hood installation proved to be somewhat tricky. Gavin was flexible, and after some discussion was able to get around all the problems. He finished the entire job very quickly, and we were able to cook lunch on the new appliances! He left the place clean and tidy, taking away the removed appliances as agreed. Excellent work and service; highly recommended.

Gavin helped us renovate a retirement flat which was in desperate need of some TLC once purchased. Although it is good practice to obtain several quotes, the fact Gavin listened carefully and noted every item of detail raised at the initial meeting, prompted us to look no further. He was always punctual right from the initial quotation stage and nothing seemed to faze him, even though we had a relatively tight budget to adhere to. We were completely at ease giving him the key for several weeks to come and go as necessary. He was always very attentive to our requirements, offered advice where he could and when the unforeseen happened, Gavin was always able to meet the challenge with a cost-effective solution. He worked quickly and offered two keys attributes sadly lacking in the building trade these days– he communicated daily and was extremely tidy, going above and beyond to ensure that the moving in day was never compromised. His standard of work was exemplary and we are delighted with the outcome. We cannot recommend Gavin enough and will certainly be using him again in the future. We contacted Gavin as he had done some work on a friends house, and we needed a complete rewire done to replace our very old and unsafe electrics. Gavin was amazing. We are living in the house so it was going to be a big feat. Nothing fazed him. He came up with a plan of how to do it so we would still have power and light. Each day he would tell us which bits of furniture we needed to move or if we needed to do something specific ready for his work the following day. Every single evening he cleaned up really nicely and hoovered everywhere he had been working. This was really helpful as we have 2 small children, but we hadn’t asked him to do it, so was really great to see. Never were we left without power, and only one or two evenings in the three weeks work were we only left without lights either upstairs or downstairs (never both together), which was easily managed with lamps. Each day we thought of something new and our questions were always answered and our queries resolved. Due to the nature of our house, there were a few challenges Gavin faced, but nothing was a problem and the rewire is now complete and we are thrilled. The chasing is very neat and clean and everything matches. All our requirements were met and we are very happy. We highly rate Gavin personally as a lovely person and also for his high standard of work. We will definitely be using him for future works. Thank you very much.

Gavin is fantastic; he is reliable, hard working, experienced and fair with what he charges. Unlike many tradesmen I have used he has a close eye for detail and is very knowledgeable about everything I throw at him, be it electrical work (which is his main trade) to plastering and decorating. He is careful and considered in how to go about the job and is clean and tidy during. I would highly recommend him to friends and family.

Completely new kitchen and flooring; New shower area; New toilet/cloakroom area. He completed all the work to a very high standard. He also found a Victorian door to match the rest of the house to fit between the kitchen and the living room. The work took a week longer than estimated but was worth it for the quality.

Nothing is too much trouble for Gavin, he is a perfectionist and really cares about any job he does, whether it is large or small. He has done several jobs for me, including electrical, carpentry and general repairs. All carried out efficiency and professionally. We employed G&L to rewire our cottage kitchen, fit new cupboards and worktops and fit a new consumer unit as well. Everything was done with a great deal of care and thought, on time and on budget. Gavin had some really good ideas to improve our ideas and was flexible when my DIY plumbing work needed a little adjustment. I was able to trust Gavin with the keys to our holiday home and he independently organised for UK Power Networks to sort out our supply and managed the whole thing. We have used Gavin on several occasions for electrical work, replacing sanitary ware, basin taps and decorating. We've always found his work to be of a high standard, completed within the given timescale and at a very reasonable price! We've also found his advice to be honest and sound. As a rule, I don't really like recommending trades people as they so often let you down but I'd definitely recommend G&L Home Improvements and have done on several occasions... The people I've recommended have been happy too!
