Wayne came out to see what was required and very quickly understood exactly what I wanted. The bath, old WC and sink were removed on day one and taken off site. The chippies were friendly and understood the requirement which they completed efficiently with no mess left behind. The electrician completed the new wiring in record time, again with no mess. The plumbers made sure that I was completely satisfied and again left no mess after them. Finally the new flooring looks fabulous and I cannot fault the tradesmen. All in all a great job and I would definitely recommend them. Rebecca was super efficient at answering my queries and a great help. I love my new utility / laundry room.

Why are you looking at this review rated poor? Are your intentions to decide whether to use this company? Do poor reviews provide any useful purpose? If your mind is already made up then despite seeing adverse reviews and hearing of the cheap estimate it still leads one to ask what harm can it do? Well I ignored such reviews and still went ahead and appointed GasMonster of Cottenham. Here are some questions you should consider based upon our truthful and factual experiences. Would you choose a company that despite the Trades description act and the WHICH code of conduct still sent an unqualified convicted burglar to our home? A company that was subsequently referred to the WHICH compliance unit for investigation? A company whose quality of work was described in an independent RISA report as “not of an acceptable standard”? A company that was ordered by the Furniture and Improvement Ombudsman in October 2023 to pay us compensation? If the answer is still yes, then wasn’t reading this review rather pointless? So buyer beware or “Caveat Emptor” after all it’s your decision and your money.

Their work was excellent the staff were professional and were very helpful and kept us informed throughout the installation. You wouldn't have known they had been here they were so neat and tidy (ie no mess or debris left behind). Highly recommended.

Gas Monster has recently replaced my boiler and installed a number of new radiators and thermostatic radiator valves with a full system powerflush. I was very impressed with the whole process from the initial survey by Wayne, the prompt answering of my questions and the politeness and efficiency of the engineer Dane and his apprentice Nathan. I had been dreading the mess and disruption the work would cause over a four day period but thanks to the professionalism of the operatives and the care taken by them it was much less stressful than I had anticipated. I am now looking forward to a warmer winter and a trustworthy company to service my boiler in the coming years.

Recently had a combi boiler installed by Gas Monster and the experience with them has been 5-star from start to end. Wayne was very knowledgeable and helpful. As this particular work required a new gas supply, he took the time to explain all the steps involved in the procedure and found an installation option that would suit my needs. The team that installed the entire system was skilled, tidy and courteous. They did a brilliant job in a surprisingly short amount of time, particularly Dayne who was also very patient in answering my numerous questions and in keeping me involved throughout the process. Extremely impressed by the whole service from Gas Monster when my boiler died during a cold week in February. I phoned around a few companies, and Gas Monster were the first to come out to have a look, the quickest to send me a quote (which was a fair price, and very similar to several other quotes), and were able to get the work done sooner than anyone else. The new boiler was fitted by Dane, who was very friendly and communicative, and did a brilliant job. I'll definitely use Gas Monster again.

Gas Monster replaced 16 radiators in my house earlier this year and did a great job. So when I decided to replace my 32-year-old boiler with a new more efficient boiler I had no hesitation in asking Gas Monster to do the work. Wayne took the trouble to visit my house so we could review the existing installation and decide on the best replacement. Reese and Jack with help from Wayne and electrician Simon have just completed the installation of a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 24Ri They arrived promptly at the agreed time and completed the work in one and a half days which was less than their estimate of 2 days. The new boiler and associated pipework was installed neatly. The flue outlet through the kitchen wall needed to be raised to suit the new boiler and Reese did a great job of cutting out the bricks where the old flue exited and replacing them with new bricks. He also explained the CO and CO2 tests and minimum and maximum load tests that he did when commissioning the boiler. During the work, they were polite, helpful and kind. On both days before they left they did a great job of cleaning up after their work. My new boiler is working very well. I am very happy with the work which Gas Monster has done for me and I highly recommend them.

On-time, efficient and friendly replacement of 16 radiators

Last week, Elliott and his colleague from Gas Monster Ltd replaced 16 radiators, installed a new pump and new three-way valve. They arrived to start work exactly at the time agreed and throughout the installation were hard-working, efficient, friendly and helpful. After the installation they performed a PowerFlush to remove corrosion deposits from the pipework and the boiler. The new metric sized radiators replaced heavily corroded 32 year old imperial sized radiators so changes to the pipework feeding the radiators were needed and they did this very neatly. The work was completed on time and I am very happy with their work. I can definitely recommend Gas Monster for heating and plumbing work in the Cambridge area. Many Thanks! Kind Regards Jerry

They talked me through stopping the leak when it happened and then booked an appointment for the full repair. When the plumber turned up he was polite, quick, tidy and Covid-safe. The first repair didn't quite hold, so I called them back. The plumber was back in about 15 miss. All is fine now. They invoiced me afterwards and online payment was straightforward.

Quote did not include all I asked for. When fitting an additional and absolutely pointless stop valve (instead of replacing one which drips) they have managed to cut through my kitchen waste pipe. I have only noticed three weeks later. Thank goodness it was not a gas pipe. They have failed to repair a bath scratch they have caused. I have paid in full only because their extremely obnoxious email was making me sick and I wanted to put this behind me.

Gas Monster carried a new boiler installation (Worcester-Bosch 8000) and also a new gas pipe to provide adequate pressure. The job was completed over 2 days (plus one day for power flushing). The engineer was professional, respectful, worked quietly on both days. We only had one night without heating but that was a small price to pay for such a great job, in the middle of the winter as well. I have trusted Gas Monster for servicing my old boiler which was really poorly installed and maintained by another company. Their installation of the new boiler was impeccable, hassle-free and although it is still early days, I have peace of mind and confidence that they can fix any possible future problems. Highly recommended!

After 30 years it was time to refurbish our downstairs cloakroom. Gas Monster was recommended to us. Old back boiler replaced by a new combi boiler. Our installer, Reiss, worked brilliantly - his work was impeccable. He kept us informed of what he was doing at each stage of the job. He was very kind, polite and just got on with his work to a very high standard and if we had any questions, he took the time to answer without hesitation. The work was finished on time. An old radiator decided to leak rusty water on the day the work was finished - I made a phone call and they came back straight away to isolate it (nothing to do with the work). We are now having old radiators replaced by them. I would highly recommend Gas Monster, 100%.

New Combi Boiler & Thermostatic Shower

Old original boiler was 30-40 years old. It was getting noisy and less efficient and spare parts hard to get hold of. Gas Monster produced a quotation for us for a new boiler more efficient combination boiler and a new thermostatic shower, to replace our old electric shower, previously installed by Wayne. Boiler was moved from the kitchen to the airing cupboard on the landing, with minimal disruption. Had a new Lyric T6R WiFi thermostat installed. Old flue removed and pipework removed from kitchen and hole in wall bricked up. Tiles were replaced in the bathroom where old shower was. New flue had to be installed through the loft and roof. Straightforward, tidy, efficient and courteous service. Job completed in 5 days on time and as expected. we have used Wayne and his team for years to service our previous boiler. Also replaced our toilet & shower over the years. Highly recommended. Thank you to Wayne and Gas Monster team.

Complete renovations of a bathroom and a shower room

We recently had two bathrooms completely renovated – walls, floors, ceilings, plumbing. It was quite a big job, so we took several estimates from local firms (some personally recommended), and after careful consideration and meetings, chose Gas Monster, who had recently and successfully fitted a new hot water system for us. The work took several weeks from ripping out the old stuff to the final lick of paint, and we were very satisfied with the whole process. Wayne Bell, who runs the company, was a frequent and very helpful presence, and Will Stockton, the senior plumber, was with us practically every day, keeping everything up to schedule and checking all the work in a very professional manner. We were very impressed with the quality of the craftsmanship, and got on very well with all those (eight men in all – various trade specialists - if I remember rightly, including apprentices) who took part. They were cooperative, efficient and tidy, and did their best to minimise inconvenience to us. All the work was done according to the agreed schedule. We recommend them very highly.

I chose Gas Monsters Ltd from this website and I wasn't disappointed. Wayne, the owner, was so patient with my requests and his advise was spot-on. After returning from holiday to discover I had no hot water or heating at all, GasMonster were able to respond within 48 hours of contact and very quickly diagnosed the problem. They offered me a range of solutions, and I opted for a complete system replacement. They handled everything, including the removal of the old equipment, bringing the pipe work up to current building regulations and the installation and test of the new equipment. The new system is a massive success, and the engineers were courteous and helpful throughout the whole process. I can happily recommend their services and attest to the competency of their staff.

We have had two lots of work done by Gas Monsters. Firstly they changed all the downstairs radiators. Excellent work and good advice on the type of radiator to have. We then asked them to replace our 21 year old boiler plus sort out another problem. We got good advice on the kind of boiler to have and a senior engineer diagnosed the problem we had had for several years that no one else had diagnosed. The men work well together. They arrive on time and look professional in their corporate clothing. They lay down floor coverings and clean up after they go. Communication during the job being done was excellent so we knew what was going on. This is a good company and we have no hesitation in recommending them to people.

My old electrical hot water system, installed in an unvented store cupboard, finally died leaving me with no hot water. A number of plumbers who, once they saw the old system and its situation, disappeared without further contact. Trading Standards put me onto the local Which Trusted Traders, who gave me a list of 3 names. I phoned Gas Monsters; Rebecca answered and was most friendly and helpful, making an early appointment and warning me the work could not be carried out for a further 6 weeks because of their commitments - I knew where I stood. I think it was Brian who came to view. He saw no problem with removing my old system and suggested replacing it with a Megaflo Eco Unvented Hot water cylinder. What a relief to have a solution to my problem at last! Installation started on 2nd Jan and took three days. A decorator was scheduled for Monday 7th Jan to paint the plinth and on Fri 11th Jan an electrician signed off the installation. The old, very rusty system was taken away a few days later. All work was completed with minimum fuss - any resultant mess was continuously and quickly cleaned up. The workmen worked efficiently. I was worried that I would lose cupboard space in my tiny kitchen when they ran the pressure pipe from the storeroom to the outside wall but, no, it was positioned between the cupboard end and the bedroom wall to reach the outside wall. Again, professional clean work was completed efficiently. I happily recommend Gas Monsters.

I used Gas Monster previously to replace a boiler and shower, and had no qualms about using them this time to refurbish my bathroom. An existing basin was removed and a replacement basin with unit was installed in a new position; a custom built airing cupboard in matching style was fabricated and installed; led downlights were fitted and also a dimmer switch and the room was decorated throughout. I was extremely pleased with the results. Also I was appreciative of the good-quality advice offered by Wayne initially, and the team carried out the work proficiently. They were clean and tidy in their work, polite and cheerful. Also I found the copy of the work schedule supplied really useful for knowing who would be working each day and when. An efficient team and I would highly recommend the company.

rk? I had a new Worcester Bosch Greenstar CDI 34 installed with new gas pipes from meter. This also included 2 radiators. I had wanted 10 radiators but Gas Monster are a Premium company (like British Gas) and was outside my budget. As a premium company the actual job was handled very professionally. It starts with a survey by Wayne who is very knowledgeable and understood my requirements. The quote received is broken down by parts and labour, and all the parts listed were roughly what I could buy so it was sensible. Labour is expensive. When the work commences Wayne is back on site to talk it through with the installer. While talking through the pipe runs we could see that 2 extra radiators could be fitted for very little extra time. The fact that this was done made the whole experience worthwhile. The end result is that I am very happy I went with Gas Monster and I would use them again.

After the boiler in my rental property failed its annual gas safety inspection, I sought a number of quotations before settling with Gas Monster's. I contacted Gas Monster because I particularly wanted a Worcestershire-Bosch combi boiler from a local accredited installer with a ten year warranty. It is difficult to say what it was that led me to choose Gas Monster, as I neither met them beforehand nor felt the need to inspect the work once it was completed. However, I suppose it was a combination of the way in which they communicated with me, answered all my questions and the assurances provided by my letting agent that they were well thought of. My tenants have not made any unsatisfactory remarks about the installation despite having to wait for several weeks without heating before Gas Monster could offer an appointment to install the new boiler, which I take to be a positive sign. I expect to have an on-going annual boiler servicing and maintenance relationship with Gas Monster and would certainly use them again as well as recommend them to anyone else.

Gas monsters are a local firm but I had not used them before. Wayne came when he said he would and did a thorough review of the jobs I wanted completed. A new toilet and sink taps in upstairs bathroom, replace stops cocks to downstairs supply and also a new main internal stop cock to the property itself. He came back with a fair quote which included a choice of toilet supplied. After I accepted it an appointment was arranged to have the work done within two weeks. I couldn't be more pleased with the attention to detail and quality of the work done. The plumber who came worked consistently on this range of jobs up and down the house and was always respectful to myself and the property in going about his work. Not just professional but obviously caring that I would be completely satisfied with the work done. I am. This is a firm I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

The work was to replace an 30 year old back boiler and a vented hot cylinder with a new A-rated system boiler and unvented mains-pressure hot cylinder. A number of the existing radiators were moved and replaced at the same time. Initial contact with Gas Monster and the quote process was relatively straightforward. Wayne took on board all the work we were looking to have done, and identified most of the issues that were going to come up, particularly as the new boiler and cylinder were going to be at a different location to the existing units. The work undertaken was then completed pretty much on schedule (an extra day was needed to finish the job, as the complexity grew once the team were able to get in a start lifiting floorboards, but there was no additional cost). The quality of the work was excellent, and while the new pipework will eventually be boxed into a cupboard as part of other planned renovation, what has been put in place is very neat and tidy and can be left on display for now! I have had no problems since the installation so have no experience of after-sales support.

We had our boiler and hot water cylinder were replaced. The water tanks in the loft were removed as the new system is closed. Gas Monster worked with us and an asbestos removal company so that asbestos in the boiler cupboard could be removed between the removal of the old boiler and the installation of the new one. One of the reasons we choose Gas Monster was that they provide a full breakdown of costs in their quotation making it easier to compare options. Regarding after sale care, when we discovered a small leak a few days after the work was completed they were quick to come back out and fix the problem.

We had a new Worcester Boiler fitted and the old immersion heater repaired. Gas Monster was extremely efficient in contacting us and in carrying out the work. All the work was completed on time. Brian carried out the work. He was always on time, worked flat out and left the area in which he was working, very clean and tidy. The tasks were carried out well and without any fuss. Brian explained regularly what jobs he planned to complete each day. A few days after the job had been done, the manager, Wayne, called round to make sure we were satisfied and just to be on the safe side, explained how to work the timings on the boiler etc. again to us. The whole experience was smooth and the work of a high, professional order. We felt we were dealing with skilled and highly reliable workers and would have no hesitation in recommending Gas Monster. Convert the system to a sealed one with the installation of an expansion vessel and filling loop in the airing cupboard. Supply, install and commission a high efficiency boiler and high pressure unvented hot water cylinder. The trader arrived on site on the date and time arranged to ensure his employees were briefed on the work to be carried out. All members of the team were introduced before work commenced and all were identifiable by their company logo on their poloshirts. For every day they were on site, we found them hardworking and polite. They ensured dust sheets covered all carpeted areas and they wore protective covering on their shoes. They made sure to inform us of what was happening every day as work progressed and left their work areas clean and tidy every day before they left. All the work was checked as required and the relevant certification required regarding gas and electrical installations was supplied.
