Handy's Property Services

Having found Handy's listed on the Which? website under handymen near me, I tried to contact them on both 16 and 17 April. The phone was not answered and no option to leave a message was offered. I then emailed, again no response. Finally, I completed the enquiry form on their website - no response. Have they gone out of business?

I don't really want to leave a review - I would secretly like to keep this team all to myself! I initially contracted Handy's to carry out major renovations to my hallway and a rear bedroom. Before long, the very high standards to which they adhered became obvious. As a result, I kept adding elements to the project, ending up spending approx double what I had originally planned and seeing almost every room transformed. I am very happy with the outcome. The pricing was transparent and fair, payment arrangements very trusting, the quality of the work excellent, the approach pro-active, and I always felt the team really cared about their results. I am guilty of attempted micro-management; however I relaxed enough to let Russell take complete charge. A highlight was the outstanding quality of his communications - regular updates, full of detail and highly informative. I actually looked forward to receiving a "Russell video". Communications were also notable for their transparency, nothing was ever masked or covered up, and the team overcame every problem encountered (these mainly resulted from my property being elderly and "wonky"). Lovely team - Russell has wonderful carpentry skills, David is a craftsman who can do virtually anything to a superb standard, and Mickey is that rare thing, a painter who never cuts corners (plus he is very funny). I highly recommend Handy's, and I would use them again without hesitation. Top team. I actually miss having them around.

Excellent service from Russell and Robin. This is the first time I've used their service and the first time I've had a job run completely smoothly from start to finish. Good communication throughout with advice around which materials to choose and the job was completed in less time than expected. Also very good value for money. I'd definitely recommend them.

Had a great experience with Handy Handyman. Russell connected us with a great team. Everyone was professional and focused and also respectful of our space whilst working in our home. We had a fence repaired and painted, bespoke kitchen doors made and painted, additional kitchen cupboards built and installed, worktop counter made and 4 internal doors installed and painted. We are very happy with the quality of work and felt listened to at every stage. All work completed to budget and even ahead of schedule. Amazing to find good tradespeople. We hope to use their services again in the future.

Russell and his team recently completed a full renovation of our 3 bedroom flat, including removing an old lath and plaster ceiling, removing an internal wall, levelling the ceiling, plastering, painting, marble tiling, replacing radiators, installing soundproofing and installation, and carpentry building large fitted cupboards in the living room. We were also having a crittall-style glass window and door fitted where the old internal wall was, for which Russell was required to create a perfectly measured and levelled opening for the metal frame within our wonky walls and floor (it's an old house). From the beginning and throughout the work Russell's communication was brilliant. When he first came around he spent a long time inspecting the flat and making notes, and talked through the work with me in detail. During the work we were in touch frequently via whatsapp as things progressed, updating me and checking decisions with me. It was easy to discuss potential problems and issues with him, and he had good advice on finding solutions. His team were brilliant - friendly and polite. The work was finished to a very high standard - Russell is a perfectionist which I think shows. Everything is excellent and we're very happy with the new flat.

We found Russell through this site and knew we needed a good quality team for a major renovation of our bedroom. We expected to need a combination of building and high quality decorating/finishing. Russell and his excellent team took our room back to brick, restored a floor, replaced a ceiling, plastered and wallpapered, replaced radiators and added lights. We knew it would be challenging work and they were excellent throughout. Many decisions needed to be made during the project and Russell's communication of the options, pros/cons, and costs were all well considered and explained. The prep work was well sequenced and made all the difference. The finish achieved by the team is great. Highly recommended.

I needed my bathroom redecorating and the curved side of the bath replaced. I doubted whether it would be possible and thought I might have to buy a new bath with all the hassle involved. Russell managed to replace the side after doing a lot of research and using a material new to him and it looks superb. The team also refurbished my front door and the whole porch area and the rather ramshackle side gate. It all now looks like new. All the paintwork is excellent because of the meticulous prep work. A great team.

This is the third job I have had Russell and his team carry out on my property. As usual Russell came to the house, listened to my requirements and offered his advice. He then promptly quoted with an estimated start date and how long he thought the job would take. Throughout the process he kept me updated and informed, the result was brilliant. Exactly what I wanted, with the additional reassurance that all the issues behind the surface had been put right. I would highly recommend him.

I have used Russell and the team many times. This time they replaced a bathroom, redecorated the kitchen and a bedroom. They worked hard with an excellent finish. Will use again and would highly recommend.

Kitchen installed including drywall and plastering, ceiling lights, electrical rewiring, cornice installed, washing machine moved to a cupboard. Done on time and to budget. The quotation process with Russell was great and involved a thoughtful discussion and consideration of possibilities. Everything was itemised in the quote and email communication was prompt and accurate. The work was led and carried out by Robin with help from Josh and they were polite and thoughtful. Good, timely communication. Robin paid attention to detail and kept me informed of choices and decisions he had made. Robin cares for the final appearance of the work as if it were his own place he was working on. I'm very happy with the result and the process went as smoothly as could be hoped.
