Booked my caring for service and MOT. Anthony gave me a call with the bad news, failed on a couple of damaged tyres... great news really. I don't buy the budget tyres, there is only a tiny patch where your tyres touch the road. I need the best contact... now I trust these guys and I didn't even price check as I know they are competitive ( I actually checked when I brought the car home and black circles where 30 quid a tyre more expensive !! ).. so a very chilled experience and well looked after and I feel happy that I have quality service, at a competitive price. Keep up the good work guys and dolls.. Joe

I had an issue with my car’s engine tray, it got knocked loose and was starting to hang down. I called In 'n' Out in Wigan in the morning, and they told me to swing by in the early afternoon for a look. When I arrived, I was ready for a long wait but as soon as I parked, the manager was waiting, took my keys, and got the car on the ramp. The whole thing took maybe ten minutes. I was half-expecting them to suggest a new tray, but instead, they just reattached the old one. And since it was a quick job, they did it for free! I was blown away. I’ve used them before, but this experience really sealed the deal for me. I’ll definitely be coming back in the future. I don’t usually write reviews, but today’s experience was so positive I had to share.

Avoid - Rude and poor service
I am an RAC member and get a free MOT voucher if you book into one of their recommended garages. This is the closest one to me. I booked an appointment through the RACs website and got a confirmation email but was not sent a time. I rang and spoke to the garage who said it hadn’t been confirmed by In and Out so I had to rebook it again. I did this, having to take a second day off work to accommodate their error only to be told they are refusing to do the MOT due to a small amount of dog hair and paw prints on the back seat and a pram in the boot. I work with dogs and this shouldn't stop them from doing anything to the seatbelts. They were unhelpful and rude. As I left, the gentleman responsible was in the car park and was rudely muttering words directed at me under his breath. They wasted my time. They advertise that they will do an MOT under RAC but clearly that’s not true. Avoid them.

Stay well away, took my sons car that had bought for £2.8k in January, had a two clear MOT's last year 2nd one in December 2023. Had issue with brake fluid leaking and AA's recommended garage, they itemised the following things that needed doing; Urgent Notes GOOD AFTERNOON, WE CURRENTLY HAVE YOUR VEHICLE WITH US TODAY FOR VHC AND DIAGNOSTIC CHECK.THE FOLLOWING ITEMS REQUIRES ATTENTION. - FRONT TO REAR BRAKE PIPES. (MISTING/ STARTING TO LEAK) £220 - BOTH REAR WHEEL CYLINDERS AND SHOE FITTING KITS. £280.78 - FULL EXHAUST IS HEAVILY CORRODED (HIGH RISK OF FORMING HOLES) £406.71 - BRAKE FLUID REQUIRED. £45 - BOTH FRONT LOWER ARMS BUSHES HEAVILY WORN, CAUSING EXCESSIVE PLAY OR MOVEMENT. £539.98 - WHEEL ALIGNMENT. £50 - BOTH REAR TYRES WORN CLOSE TO LEGAL LIMIT/ HEAVILY CRACKING AND PERISHED. 14 YEARS OLD. £59.70 EACH TYRE - BOTH REAR SPRINGS HEAVILY CORRODED. £381 - REAR AXLE CORRODED. *** DIAGNOSTIC CHECK, FAULT CODE FOR VARIABLE TIMING SOLENOID. WE CAN NOT GET PART FOR PRICE. *** Total £2,042.87 Asked about their labour rates and was told at first I don't know, then I said can you find out, the guy returned saying their labour rate is £111 + VAT per hour, which means they want £133.20 per hour labour! Took to another garage and was told none of the other bits needed doing urgently and wouldn't fail an MOT for, yet told by In'And'Out things could snap at any minute!

I rang in and out Wigan branch after being recommended them through the warranty on my car. The engine light had come on my car and the engine was over heating. I rang them around 9am in the morning and they told me to bring the car in at 11.30am that same day. All the staff were very professional and explained exactly what they would be doing to my car. I left my car with them and got a phone call the very next day at around 10am to say the work had been completed. All the work was completed exactly how they explained. Very impressed with the service at the Wigan branch and will definitely be using them again.

They offer great service. Saeed the manager at the centre is very helpful and thorough in his explanation of my vehicle, likewise all other staff are very friendly too. All great service from beginning. Can check the staff working through the window so I know how my vehicle is behind dealt with. Professional service indeed.

Welcomed by Ste on reception very efficient knew who I was as I walked through the door. Told it would take 2 hours or so it was ready just on 2 hours. Service check list as comprehensive as main dealer all carried out with just a minor advisory about front discs slightly lipped. Service indicator reset, service book stamped, invoice and service check list all provided. MoT passed without any advisories. Top quality service, professional outfit and an unbelievable price that saved me just over £200 v's Renault dealership for same job!! The most professional experience I have had at a garage! I booked an MOT here at the recommendation of a relative and it was definitely a 10/10 experience. The gentleman who looked after me - Syd - was a very professional and experienced individual. He explained the whole process and focused on my needs. Even though i could tell he was very busy he still managed to work efficiently without sidelining any customers, myself included. He even took time out to show me how to use the complimentary coffee machine (which by the way was fantastic). He also advised me regarding my service and when the best time to do it is and what to look out for. Overall this place is a very professional environment. You can directly see what is going on with your vehicle and there is a setting of honesty and integrity. I would highly recommend this place for all your vehicle needs as their prices are very reasonable.

A great price for a full service even with the added fully synthetic oil charge. You also get a complementary video of some of the service being carried out text to your phone which I thought was a good idea. The bloke on the desk is sound as well, overall very pleased.

Good service but be aware of the “synthetic oil surcharge”

Took car in for a full service. The bloke on the desk was friendly and professional. My main quibble is one that I was already expecting from reading countless other reviews online. When given the quote for the service at the time of booking, the estimate given is obviously determined by the make/model of the car. It strikes me as a little bit of a con that they announce a twenty quid synthetic oil surcharge as soon as you walk through the door. If they know enough about the make/model of your car to provide an estimate, then they are surely fully aware of the kind of oil it takes. That said, it was still a good price even with the surcharge. I definitely wouldn’t advise people against going there, but seeing as many modern cars use synthetic oil, I would advise people to add twenty quid onto the estimate they receive.

We only use premium oils from our partner Castrol, as this premium oil is often recommended by manufacturers. Recent feedback from customers has highlighted concerns regarding the supplement charge. As such we are in the process of combining the synthetic oil supplement into the price of all servicing. We are hoping to launch this very soon. I booked on line for an MOT service on the Sunday evening and was able to take my car in at a convenient time on the Monday. Very helpful staff who put me at ease as I get quite worked up when dealing with these sort of things the car passed and the advisor explained the points raised for next time. Living in the modern world and keeping a car on the road can be tough. Especially with tax, mot and insurance to consider, my car required new tyres and rear brakes, a cost which I hadn't budgeted for after the Christmas period, after getting numerous quotes from independent and franchised garages across Wigan, I came across IN'n'OUT not only was there quote the cheapest recieved after speaking with the Syd and Irfan I was made aware of Payment Assist this allowed me to pay for the work in installments over a 4 month period, especially useful when money is a little tight. The waiting room is kept clean with free coffee and WIFi available, there is also a viewing window allowing you to check on the progress of the work being completed. I am very happy with the completed work and would like to thank the team for a job well done, 5 star service.

Convenient but unsatisfactory

I recently attended the Wigan branch for an interim service (a simple oil and filter change). Pros: Convenient times Easy to book Reasonable headline prices Good location Friendly Staff Good waiting area Free coffee Cons: When you arrive (that is after you’ve booked and paid online for the items you’ve selected from the comfort of home) you’ll be asked and encouraged to purchase extras such as ‘fully synthetic oil’ ‘engine flush’, ‘fuel treatment’, etc. In my opinion these are costly ‘add-ons’ and it’s questionable if they’re required at all and this makes the reasonable headline price a very expensive price. Whilst doing the interim service my car was inspected in the guise of a ‘Vehicle health check’ which in my opinion is a method of this company looking for extra work. I was told that my rear brake discs were rusty and require replacing at a cost in excess of £200 (BTW the car is less than 3 years old and has covered less than 25k miles). I politely declined. I think most cars will have rusty brake discs (particularly on the rear) following wet conditions. However, some people may be concerned that their car is not safe and agree to the work. I preferred to get a second opinion from a reputable garage who agreed with my gut feeling. This reminds me of similar stories from years ago of similar companies that have long since disappeared. So unsurprisingly in conclusion I’ll not be visiting this company again.

Regarding the ‘extras’ that you cited they are purely optional and we only offer them as we believe they are good products and may enhance your car’s performance and running. You are under no obligation to purchase them. We do charge an oil supplement if your car requires fully synthetic oil. We carry out Vehicle Health Checks on vehicles that visit us as we believe that is a good service to offer. It is at no cost to the customer but gives them a report and a checklist giving them confidence that the vehicle has been thoroughly inspected. The customer has no obligation to have any work carried out with us on the back of this check it is just a free service that we provide. I am sorry that you feel that based on what we believe is good customer service you would not visit us again. Kind regards Louise
