Since opening over 25 years ago we have always provided our customers a choice to take their vehicles to an affordable, yet highly qualified independent service centre based in South Somerset.

Boasting the latest technology and highly qualified technicians enables us to diagnose and repair your vehicle quickly and efficiently.

We provide courtesy cars and a collecting and delivery service or you can wait and relax and enjoy a fresh coffee and free WIFI .

I was recommended J. Day Engineering by the RAC as I was having a problem with my clutch. Fortunately they were open on a Saturday and I was able to book my car in within the next 10 days. (The earliest time the local BMW dealership could offer was just over 2 months) a member of staff kept me updated throughout the day and my car was ready on the same afternoon, with the final invoice being less than the original quote. I would highly recommend J.Day Engineering and will definitely be employing their services again in the future.

Having realised my MOT need re-doing, immediately, J Day Engineering set a time and date that meant I would be able to full fill my legal responsibilities to be able to remain “on the road”, all done with a great level of friendliness, at the time they said they would, and enabling me to return home while the work was done.

J Day recently carried out an intermediate service and Mot on my 2018 SAAB 9-3 convertible. I have been using them since 2017 and extremely satisfied with the service they have provided while servicing, repairing, and the Mot on my car. They are customer focused and provide excellent advice when issues arise. I am extremely satisfied with service I have received, and their charges. So, I have no reason to consider using another garage and am happy to recommend them. Now that my SAAB has done over 140k miles it is time for a change and I will continue to take its replacement to J Day.

Service and MOT
Really friendly and helpful customer service. Failed the MOT on tyres. But the guys on the front desk pulled out all the stops along with the mechanics, to complete the works, obtain the MOT, and keep me on the road. Top marks to the front desk staff.

My Audi TT went for an MOT, service, cam belt, clutch master cylinder change and steering geometry check a few other little things. Again they have done a brilliant job with care and attention to detail. Better than the local main Audi dealership.

Being new to the area, I had no previous experience of nearby car body repair shops. Searching online I was initially impressed with the website and visited their office. The front desk were very friendly and helpful and I was confident in booking my car in for repair. The work was done as planned and the repair work was excellent, and topped off with a complete valet of the car.

I’ve been coming to J Day for years, and have stayed with them despite moving home some distance away. They’ll always go the extra mile to get things sorted in next to no time, and are a lovely team, to boot. I wouldn’t take my car anywhere else. Neither should you!

I have had many cars over the years from Mercedes, BMW, Audi and have always come to J Day as opposed to main dealers, even for new cars that are under warranty, because of their professional and courteous manner. I cannot fault them for the 15 plus years I have been using them. I have had problems with main dealers saying that I need to spend £1,000.00 plus on a vehicle only to bring it to J Day to find out that that was incorrect. I cannot recommend them highly enough and long may they continue.

Second time using them for an MOT and both times shocked by their elevated prices, non-negotiable stance, tendency to storm you with multiple staff members flatly refusing to allow you to question the work done, not sticking to a price quoted, and in my opinion - taking advantage of the situation. In addition my vehicle went in with a working radio and came out without it working. A query they agreed to investigate on the phone, became a non event by the time the vehicle was collected. Sure they’re “friendly”, and offer you free coffee, but that’s not what you’re there for. I left feeling bullied, and will not recommend them to anyone.

We at J Day Engineering welcome all honest reviews, it saddens myself and my team when a customer feels they have not had the high standard of service that we are renowned for, being transparent is at the core of the work ethic at J Day, we always keep in mind that our customers are paying for a service when assisting customers with older vehicles that need parts. We never increase the cost of repair without prior discussion and authorisation from the customer, so the comments on a recent post were very upsetting as they were inaccurate in their reporting, we endeavour to resolve all problems and misunderstandings that our customers have, in a fair and correct manner and would welcome inspection of our policies and procedures by customers anytime to ensure that they can have confidence in our ability and professionalism to carry out our jobs and ensure the safety of their vehicles.
