I had 4 quotes for a replacement boiler. While the others were in and out in 15 minutes after a cursory look around, John took the time to do a thorough site survey and check all aspects of the job with full regard for the current installation regulations as well as the practicalities involved. He pointed out that some of the proposals made by others did not only not meet regulations but could also invalidate the boiler warranty. Subsequently, his written quote was by far the most comprehensive, giving details of 2 different options for the boiler and controls, along with photos of them, as well as pipework, flu placement, drainage, etc. He also detailed recommended options enabling the warranty to be extended to 10 years. John carried out the work diligently and carefully taking a couple of unexpected difficulties in his stride. He kept to his quote and the timescale agreed and is happy to provide ongoing aftercare. He was a pleasure to have around and I wouldn’t hesitate to use him again if and when required. John Creasey has just completed the annual GasSafe check on my house and I'd like to recommend his services. I moved to New Malden in 2005 and needed a Gas Engineer to service my boiler annually because I have a lodger. Found John in Yellow Pages and picked him at random simply because he was local. I was really lucky because he’s great. He’s happy to take time to explain anything to me. Very approachable and trustworthy. Extremely knowledgeable on gas safety as evidenced by condemning my gas fire in the lounge - he carried out a flue smoke test one year and identified that smoke was leaking through brickwork because the chimney lining had crumbled away. Much as I liked my fire, keeping me safe from carbon monoxide poisoning is obviously far more important. He also installed a new boiler for me and relocated it from round-a-corner in a kitchen cupboard to its new position in the loft room. The pipework I saw under the bathroom floor while he was working was a work-of-art. Beautifully aligned and neat. Evidently takes pride in doing a good job.

I thoroughly recommend John. He gave my gas boiler it’s annual service and went out of his way to source and fit a much needed replacement part the same day to avoid me requiring a second visit. I was particularly impressed with the way he considered my health and safety during the middle of this coronavirus pandemic - he wore a face mask, used hand sanitiser regularly and even disinfected the work surfaces he had touched before he left. I have used John before to resolve a boiler issue and found him to be prompt, knowledgeable and quick in returning my phone call. And this occasion was no exception. As he was not able to come right away when I phoned him, he was happy to talk me through the issue and helped me get the heating started by moving the controls to manual. I called John when my heating failed and British Gas, with whom I have a Home Care contract, said that they would not be able to come out to me for almost 2 weeks. John came later that day and identified what he thought to be the problem; he returned the following day and fitted a spare used part to test his theory. He left me with a working boiler and said that he would check in a few days to see if it had solved the problem (the boiler had been constantly shutting down). He texted me a few days later and I confirmed that there had been no further problem, so he ordered a new part to replace the used one and came to fit it as soon as he received it. I have cancelled my contract will British Gas and will be using John for future servicing and breakdowns. He was efficient, polite and friendly at all times.

John was able to come to our property and quote for the installation of a new boiler at relatively short notice. He gave us very good advice on the models and warranty extending accessories available and promptly sent us a detailed written quote. On acceptance we were delighted John could fit us in before Christmas, he is friendly, polite and very knowledgeable. Our boiler had gone wrong in the middle of the coldest few days of winter so far. Latish in the evening I texted John, who I have employed before and found to be an excellent worker, and he phoned me back immediately. He then talked me through how to diagnose and temporarily fix the problem so that we had some heat. (No question of a charge for that). Despite being very busy, he then agreed (without me asking) to fit in a visit the next day. He arrived promptly and was his usual friendly, chatty and yet totally professional self. John installed a combi boiler for us last year and has just been back to service it, which reminded me to add a review. On both occasions he has been so helpful and friendly. His work is top quality, and his advice always based on what will work best and cost the least (this is a man who offers advice freely on a local social media group to save people calling out tradespeople unnecessarily for common boiler issues). Our central heating pump had been making occasional ominous noises for some weeks and then stopped working entirely. This was not entirely surprising as it must have been around 30 years old. I contacted John Creasey based on the excellent reviews on Which? Trusted Traders and because he lived only a couple of miles from us. He said he might be able to get to us the following afternoon and sure enough he did. I had sent a picture of the pump and he arrived equipped with a suitable new replacement. He installed the pump without any problems as well as new isolation valves as the originals were notorious for failing. (I expected this as I had already read reports of this on the internet.) He was very helpful and as described in other reviews gave the immediate impression of "old school" reliability. So many reviews said his prices were reasonable that I trusted that he would charge a fair price. And he did. John really is a "trusted trader".

John Creasey repaired the left-hand oven of our 30-year old cooker. The flame control had failed. He sourced the part, and fitted it efficiently and pleasantly. He then tested everything to make sure it worked. We are very pleased to have the cooker working again.

My old boiler failed over the Xmas/New Year 2019/20. I contacted the manufacturer but as the boiler was over 20 years old they couldn't help me but pointed my towards my local and their preferred engineers. I contacted John Creasey who had the central heating back up and going before the New Year, I also had him quote me for a new smart boiler which I accepted. Then Corona virus stepped in and complicated matters especially with lockdown. As the old boiler was behaving itself John was quite happy to install the new boiler towards the end of the summer which has now been done. Arrived on the day we agreed, at the time we agreed, very easy to talk to and kept us informed as to what he was doing all the time and tidied up completely each evening. I was particularly impressed with his pipe work and the time he spent teaching us how to programme the boiler and setup my smart phone to control it remotely. John has now done three large pieces of work for me, over a period of three years. Installation of a new gas fire, removal of old pipework from another gas fire and most recently installation of a Vaillant boiler with computer remote controls. Normally I would seek other quotes for this work, but after the first experience I decided that Johns estimates were fair, his work exemplary and his character and demeanour delightful and totally trustworthy. Difficulties of the job do not seem to faze him and he put in several extra hours to make a certain area more cosmetically acceptable. His attention to safety features and procedures were exemplary, and I have absolutely no doubt that any problems I may experience with the computer controls will be supported by John immediately. He is a rare species in the world of tradesmen. Oh that there were more like him.

Removal of boiler & hot water storage cylinder completed satisfactorily. New boiler supplied with no problems. Hot water storage cylinder eventually installed satisfactorily after two faulty hot water storage cylinders being supplied and installed. This caused frustration and delay but Mr Creasey did an excellent job in getting everything satisfactorily concluded. He kept us fully informed & updated of the position & the work was completed in accordance with the quotation suppled.

John replaced a 20 year old Potterton boiler with a new Vaillant Combi IQ boiler, moved the location from the kitchen cupboard to the utility room and replaced all the very old radiators with new more efficient ones. John originally came round to see about replacing a boiler that I had been told was 'rusting through', he reassured that it was probably good for 4-5 yrs more but advised us that we could increase warmth in house, also reducing gas consumption by replacing radiators which we did and notice benefits immediately

John identified the problem with our heating system immediately. He clearly explained the issue and suggested a number of options. In brief we needed a new thermostat. On John’s recommendation we went with the Lyric T6R from Honeywell. He installed the system and was able to explain many of the benefits, showing his great product knowledge. We are incredibly happy with his work, and the Lyric unit. We will be asking him to return to move and replace radiators in our house. In summary John is a very friendly, reliable and knowledgeable tradesman.

The term Heating Engineer is banded about these days but a true heating engineer like John who cares about what he does and who can solve your problems is often hard to find. He was recommended to us by a number of local people whose advice we sought when our service company and a large national company both failed to solve our heating problems. Friendly, caring and thorough our problem became John's. Our heating packed up in the summer and a new pump appeared at first to solve the problem but when it packed up again in the winter a power flush and visits by several engineers later we were none the wiser and considerably out of pocket. John quickly diagnosed a blockage losing sleep one night when the site of the blockage proved elusive. Thanks to his persistence and customer care we are now enjoying an effective heating system over the coldest nights of the year. If only we had known about and called in John earlier we might have saved ourselves a lot of wasted expense.

I'm so glad I call John out. He is so knowledgeable in his field, but furthermore trustworthy. John came out to service a boiler, which he couldn't do as there was a series of issues with the installation of the boiler. If it hadn't been for John I would have remained ignorant about some serious hazards in our home. As a Which? magazine freelance photographer I was commissioned to photograph John and his family over a completely unconnected issue back in February. Three months later we needed help in an emergency: our central heating and hot water failed completely – in the week our usual gas installer away on annual leave. I remembered John (we’d chatted about his business during the photo-shoot) and I’m very glad we did as he certainly came to our rescue, fitting us in between slightly less urgent cases. The old boiler really wasn’t economically reparable (we knew it was extremely old when we bought the house and our usual engineer had said we should replace it sooner rather than later).
