Accuracy of painting was poor and attention to detail woeful. Unfortunately Martin’s quality of work was simply not up to a standard.
We engaged Martin based on a competitive price & previous good Which? reviews. He was polite & assured me that the work would be completed to a high standard. The time frame of 4 weeks was agreed upon & cost accordingly for a two-bedroom apartment. It was made clear that the job was time-critical as other trades were to follow him, followed up by my elderly mother moving back into the property. As the property was vacant, I intended to allow Martin to continue with the work unsupervised, checking in periodically. To our regret. Martin finished the flat 1.5 weeks early which was astonishing, particularly as he cost for 4 weeks. Nearing the completion of the job we went through the areas that needed correcting which he acknowledged with no excuse & subsequently fixed poorly on 2 attempts. The final time - 21 images were sent depicting poor paint penetration around cupboard doors, skirting boards, coving, and walls. I left the property and later called Martin to check on the progress. He resolutely assured me that these areas had been finished, demanded payment & payment was released. Martin refused to submit receipts for the paint I paid for and it took him a total of 6 weeks to submit an invoice. Since mediation via Which? and inadequate compensation, we have found further incomplete walls unpainted behind the fridge & washing machine. Unfortunately, Martin’s quality of work and lack of professionalism leaves me unable to recommend him.
