We’d just moved in to our new property and discovered no running water even with all isolators open. Neil quickly identified a broken isolator and had it fixed the next day even though it required a non-standard part. Neil fitted our replacement gas boiler in January 2022. He serviced it January 2023 and we are very happy with the service he provided. In May this year, we were away on holiday when my son (home alone) rang to say there was no hot water. At 9.30pm I texted Neil to see when he might be available for advice or if necessary to visit as we were not due back for several days. He interrupted his evening to respond and after asking a few questions, explained that the error code showed an external interruption in the gas supply, had caused the boiler to shut down. With his help, I was able to talk my son through the process of relighting the boiler and normal service was resumed. We can not thank him enough for his kindness and our holiday was saved.

Neil installed a boiler for me 15 years ago and has serviced it regularly. It came to the end of its life last week. So Neil replaced it with a new gas boiler. We talked about other greener options but my house just wasn't suitable for an air pump without a lot of disruption. NCC installed underfloor heating across 3 levels at our house beneath engineered flooring alongside a heat pump. It turns out they used a product designed for tiling, rather than wooden flooring, and did not follow the manufacturer's instructions (which say that self-levelling compound or screed must be added if used below wooden flooring). This means that beneath the floors (which require even heat) there are hot pipes at 50C separated by cool insulation. Their manufacturer says it's essential to install thermometers beneath the floor to avoid damage to the flooring - this was not done. Their manufacturer says that concentrated pipes should be avoided or insulated to avoid overheating of the floor. In some sections 7 pipes have been laid together where the pre-cut grooves in the boards normally support 3. In those areas the floor is being heated to 30.5C way above the safe limit of 27C, which the majority of the rest of the floor is at 21C. So both damaging the floor and failing to heat the rooms. Two months have passed since we complained, NCC came out once and all they did was cause the floors to overheat more. They didn't fix the flow meters as we had asked. During installation Neil's constant refrain was "I've run my business from home for 33 years, no-one has ever knocked on my door". Yet at the first sign of problems, he's gone.

After a series of issues with our solar and underfloor heating, it was such a relief when a neighbour recommended Neil. He sorted out both the original problem and the problems created by other people trying to fix it. Since then, he has also fitted a new boiler and upgraded my shower. It makes such a difference to find someone who knows exactly what they are doing and whose advice I trust completely. He goes above and beyond, finding time to do any necessary adjustments, even when very busy. I am particularly grateful for the time I was home unwell recently, with sub zero temperatures outside, and the heating playing up. Neil is the first heating engineer who has properly sorted our heating system, which includes solar. Over ten years, different heating engineers had tried and failed, fixing one problem but causing others. It has been a big headache over the years. I contacted Neil and explained the problem of a 17 year old leaking boiler. He asked a number of questions and offered to call in at 8am the following day. He was prompt and able to detail the work required and provide a quote there and then. This was followed up in an email that evening as promised. His work when fitting the new boiler was excellent and he fixed a number of small issues that had been left by the previous builders. He took care to ensure that we had a full understanding of the new boiler complete with remote wireless controls. We submitted an online query about a new boiler on Sunday afternoon. Neil called us within hours and visited on Monday. However what made Neil stand out was his excellent advice and explanations of options. The annual service of my old boiler showed that the heat exchanger was failing. Neil explained the cost differential of a repair against a replacement boiler without any pressure to go with the more expensive option. He also explained the benefits of a new boiler and talked me through the changes that would be made to the valves and controllers in my house. The new boiler was fitted and commissioned in the same day and all of the rubbish was removed from site. Our house was left clean and tidy. There were no unexpected additional charges and the job was completed as quoted. The boiler that was fitted was a very new design and we did need a visit from the manufacturer’s service engineer to enable all of the remote control functions but Neil made sure that this was done the very next day and he was also in attendance to check that I was happy with the result. Following a leak on the ground floor of our kitchen and hallway, we appointed Neil to install underfloor heating once the old floor was lifted and before the new tiles went down. He explained everything in advance in terms we could understand and used first-rate, British products. He kept to his schedule although there was some delay because the tiler didn't stick to his own schedule; and the job was billed exactly as quoted. Neil is an honest, knowledgeable, plumber at the top of his game who has a wealth of expertise and is happy to impart his advice. After the job was complete I did call a couple of times for advice on related and unrelated issues and he responded quickly and informatively. Prior to commissioning the job, we were nervous about how to select the right person but from the outset we trusted him and felt assured in his capable hands. I have known Neil Cornes and NCC South East for about 15 years. He has installed two boilers for me, the last in March 2018. The most recent installation was complicated by building works and the slipping timetables of other contractors. This was also a technically difficult job. The boiler and underfloor heating system were installed and completed accurately and in good time. And all new installations are working perfectly 16 months later. Post installation queries dealt with cheerfully and servicing carried out. NCC South East May not provide the cheapest quote, but estimates are adhered to and all admin is dealt with smoothly and professionally.

Neil came to our rescue, when our solar heating system packed up. It transpires that the system had been installed wrongly by the original heating engineer (apparently not uncommon unfortunately), so Neil sorted it out for us. It was by no means a straight forward job, with lots of unexpected problems uncovered along the way. But Neil persevered and got to the bottom of the problem, without any delays or complaints. Neil and his team did an excellent job of fitting a new boiler for me, moving an existing solar cylinder and pumping station, fitting a new solar iboost and correcting problems with my existing solar panels (both solar thermal and solar PV), checking that the solar thermal and solar PV systems were now working properly, including the Solar Edge monitoring. Due to complications with my system and the problems dealing with Solar Edge, the work took longer than expected but Neil was very good at keeping in touch and explaining problems as they occurred. They completed the work efficiently and were clean and tidy at all times. They were also extremely helpful in sorting out other unexpected problems with my systems as they arose and didn't complain when this delayed the work - I paid the original price they quoted for the job despite the fact it took longer than expected. When I had a leak a few weeks later with water pouring through a ceiling (which I thought may be connected to the new boiler installation) Neil was brilliant at responding extremely quickly at coming immediately to sort out the problem, even though it turned out to be nothing to do with the boiler installation and work he had done. He left me with all the completed paperwork and could not have been more helpful. I am delighted with my new boiler and now have a correctly functioning solar panel system which means that in the spring/summer months the gas boiler doesn't come on for very long at all.

Neil came at 6.30pm on the day I called to say my boiler was not working. Which was great as we were due snow in a couple of days. Unfortunately my boiler could not be fixed as the parts are obsolete so he quoted for a new boiler and came and fitted it 2 days later. All work was carried out efficiently and in a tidy manner. 10 days after installation the boiler displayed F83 error, Neil and Valiant have since visited my home and it is now fixed.

This was the first time I have employed Neil and I would rate him as an excellent choice. He attended very quickly to give me a quote on servicing my solar hot water system and also recommended a number of safety alterations following his examination of the system. When he carried out the work there was a problem with a defective blank on an unused port on the hot water tank which fractured on removal. We moved house at the end of November & I noticed the pressures on our boiler were all over the place. I found Neil through Which Trusted Traders & he came out to advise on the day I phoned him. He took time to talk me through the system & why the boiler might’ve been behaving like it was. As he was leaving he saw we had gas fires & gave us advice on how to use them safely (which we weren’t doing!). Two days before Christmas our boiler died. Neil came over to make sure the gas & electrics to the boiler were safe and then said he would come over to install a new boiler as soon as the trade re-opened after Christmas. He gave us a couple of boiler options and explained the main differences. He was then at our house at 8am on 27th December. We’re very happy with our new boiler & the work Neil has done. On top of that he’s a lovely bloke & I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending him to family & friends. We will definitely use Neil to do our annual boiler servicing and for any other plumbing jobs.

NCC did work for me a number of years ago (installed a boiler and central heating system). Although the work was good; they did it within the agreed time and for the price quoted, I have just found out they never sent Corgi, now Gas Safe, the building regulations completion certificate for the new boiler and I was never given a copy. I have now had to fork out over £100 for a lack of installation certificate insurance policy when remortgaging my property. When questioned about this they just ignored my emails. Please be warned, if you are using this company make sure they register the work or else like me, you may be in for a surprise further down the line.

Earlier in the year we were given the diagnosis that a water pipe had burst under our ground floor, necessitating the lifting of the entire ground floor area. It gave us the opportunity to get rid of the radiators and put in underfloor heating using a water pipe system. This choice was sensible because our house has very high ceilings on the ground floor and radiators never gave us effective heating. Because this was a large job, we checked out Which Trusted Traders and interviewed numerous firms before deciding on NCC South East Ltd, owned by Neil Cornes. His no-nonsense approach and clear explanations gave us confidence. Neil quoted a competitive price but also clearly explained the procedure, quality of materials used and why, how it would work & the time frame needed. He was always on time, kept us informed at every stage of the job Neil worked closely with our tiling contractor to ensure the existing floor was removed to the correct level for the water pipes removal of of the tiles and our kitchen, dug down to the level recommended and provided advice as required. The pipes and system went in, the tiles and wood flooring were laid and the system switched on.....bliss. Neil did his work on time and gave us great advice and service before, during and after the work was done; even helping us with plumbing matters unrelated to the underfloor heating. He took the time to talk me through options and provided a quote in line with my expectations, his knowledge and experience is very apparent. The installation was completed efficiently, on time and exactly as described and they are very tidy, professional workers. Subsequently Neil has returned to additionally install a water tank and to do the annual boiler service. A couple of times I’ve needed to contact Neil to fix a heating problem, he is reassuringly reliable, very responsive and without doubt knows his stuff. All of which is exactly, in my opinion, the qualities you would want and should be able to expect from any professional trader. Lastly I’m all for reading reviews and making judgements but rarely if ever write a review. Neil is exceptional and that is why I am recommending him.

Searched for a solar panel specialist on Which for my elderly parents following extremely poor service from the original installers. Their solar panels were still under warranty, but the original company failed on numerous occasions to get the panels working & contacting them regarding the warranty became virtually impossible. After reading NCC South East reviews I passed their number on to my parent. Neal from NCC arrived at their home 2 hours after their initial call. He advised them to chase the company as they should complete the repair under the warranty. If he completed the work for them then he would have to charge them. My parents decided they wanted to go with NCC. Neal kept in contact with them, advised them of cost and asked if they were happy to go ahead with the work. Neil was recommended to us through an electrician who came to look at our faulty water tank. It turned out that we needed a new water tank which Neil quoted for, supplied and fitted. We were recommended NCC by a builder friend of ours and thank goodness we were. We had to have major work done including replacing a not so old domestic boiler with a commercial boiler, new pipework, cleaning up the Central heating and underfloor heating system and more (all things which were incorrectly put in 6 years ago) Neil is a very experienced and knowledgeable person and he and his team went about completing the work in a professional manner. We now have a nice warm house with everything working efficiently. We would definitely recommend NCC as they know what they are doing unlike many of the so called plumbers /gas central heating specialists we have come across (and we have come across many). They are reliable, professional and complete the work on time.

Neil and his team fitted my new boiler in 2008. His was not the cheapest quote but I chose him as he was the most informative about the work to be done and the price seemed fair. The work was carried out as agreed and was completed on time and to the specification and the price on the written quote. The boiler has been totally reliable since it was fitted and Neil has serviced it regularly. Over the years he has also fitted new radiators and a space saving heater in the kitchen. He has also turned out for me in an emergency, when I was really panicking, and calmly sorted the problem. All his work has been carried out professionally and at a fair price. Neil Cornes and his team installed our Worcester Bosch boiler and mains pressure system in 2004, and we have had 12 years of trouble free heating and hot water ever since.......which is just as well as we are a family of 7 in a big old draughty Victorian house. He is very pleasant, always available, and knows his stuff to an impressive degree. We had building work done 6 years ago by a perfectly good and reputable builder, however their plumber made a mistake with the wet underfloor heating system. At our request, Neil came round and very calmly and politely put the other (very senior) plumber straight on the finer points of the plumbing, After a bit of arm waving and attitude from the other plumber he conceded that Neil was right and the errors were corrected. I only wish we had asked Neil to install the underfloor heating in the first place. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend NCC to anyone, excellent tradesmen like Neil are, sadly, quite hard to find....my only concern is who is going to look after my heating system if he ever retires! Hopefully, he will keep working until he is 150.
