Optimised Heating

We have used Robin in the past to service our boiler and were very happy with the job he did. On this occasion we asked him to remove a gas fire and cap off the gas feeder pipe as the associated chimney is no longer functional. He was diligent in tracing back the feeder pipe as far as was practical to work out the best place to cap it off, which he then did. He also, at my request, disassembled the gas fire and removed it from the fireplace - not difficult to do once you know how but I would have struggled with this! I was very happy with the work and the price. I didn't ask for a quote beforehand as I was confident that we would get a good job for a reasonable price.

Our Vaillant Boiler broke down and we were desperate to get it replaced as my wife was just out of the hospital with a new knee. Robin obtained a replacement boiler within 3 days and immediately fitted it in just one day. The new boiler had to be manipulated up tricky stairs and the old one taken away. Considerable trouble was taken not to cause any damage and to leave everything clean and tidy. We could not be more impressed and delighted.

We had a lot of problems with our old floor standing Worcester Bosch boiler which eventually failed with the heating, we asked Robin Strong of Optimised Heating to have a look at it as we wanted to repair it if possible, Robin took a lot of time to try to find the fault and eventually pinned the problem to a circuit board which unfortunately was not repairable and couldn't be replaces so we had to make the decision to purchase and fit a new combi boiler and again Robin took the time to work with us to pick the boiler that was best for us eventually choosing the Worcester Bosch combi 8000 Life. Robin thought there may be a delay in supplies, but he ordered it straight away with the appropriate bits and we were fortunate in having it delivered very quickly following his knowledge of good suppliers, following delivery it was only a matter of a few days when he was able to start removing the old very big and heavy boiler and arranging for it to be removed and fitting the new one which was quite complicated with our system but he took the time to do it right first time and kept the area spotlessly clean while working, Robin did everything from start to finish with no need for other contractors to be used and his work was second to none. Robin also took the time to explain it all to us and came back when we wanted to confirm some of the controls and as of now is going to further lengths to advise and purchase a thermostat for us to use, thoroughly recommend Robin for this work.

Robin replaced an old boiler with a combi boiler which involved 3 days work as there was additional pipework. He completed the work on time and left everything neat and tidy. His quote was the most competitive and the boiler came with a 10 year warranty. I was very happy with the work and can highly recommend Robin.

Robin Strong serviced our gas fire. Although we had covered most surfaces, we found a thin layer of soot on many areas - the coverings did not reach the floor and were not sealed. Most annoyingly there was soot on the walls. We didn't notice this until Mr Strong had left. He said he couldn't understand it because there was not much soot in the gas fire surround (as one would expect). I suggested that his vacuum cleaner must be blowing out soot. He said he would check, but never came back to me. I paid the bill (stupidly I suppose), but here was no offer of compensation for the damage, especially to the walls. I've marked the value 5 stars based upon the service cost. If the cost of redecorating the walls is included the value goes to minus X stars. Very disappointed.

Robin works quietly and refuses to be hurried. His assistant may put on the radio but works fast so pay it no mind. Robin is constantly on the lookout for improvements and efficiencies to design and systems and copes well with setbacks given time; maintaining focus and working patiently. Lots of experience evidently but open to innovation too. Good job.

We were very pleased with the work Robin carried out, installing a new Worcester Boiler etc. The price was good and Robin is both dilligent and attentive to details, seeking to explain what he was doing as things went along and any points of importance from the user perspective. Also he was flexible on dates and times fitting around various problems we had. We picked Optimised Heating as a result of Robin's reviews here and I can say that he more than lived up to his billing. We will undoubtedly use this company again.

Robin, was the fifth plumber we asked to service our boiler, install a CombiMate, and install our gas fire. The previous four, all failed to even have the decency to let us know that they were not coming, even when they said they would. So top marks for Robin, who was very meticulous in completing the jobs for us in a professional manner, and at a very decent cost.
