Avoid Pod Point – Dreadful Experience from Start to Finish What should have been a simple EV charger installation has turned into a month-long nightmare. I’ve had three failed installation attempts, each one caused by Pod Point’s lack of planning, communication, and professionalism. Despite sending detailed images and videos, I was repeatedly told new requirements at the last minute — trench dimensions, trunking, blue rope, you name it. Each visit ended with the installer unable to proceed. I’ve lost three days of work, had my front steps removed for over a month, and even had an infestation due to the mess left behind. Constant emails, calls, and delays — and still no charger installed. Pod Point rely on disorganised subcontractors, provide conflicting information, and show no urgency to resolve issues. I was promised a premium service. What I got was a stressful, costly, and shambolic experience. I do not recommend them.

Nothing wrong with the Pod Point itself, but people should be warned, if you need any ground work done, DON'T ask Pod Point to do it. I was charged just under £1000.00 for a man to come and dig a small trench (using a spade, no other equipment) to lay a 2 metre pipe underground to run their cable. He took less than 2 hours. The excuses for the exorbitant costs - they use subcontractors, so have no control over the pricing and the contractor had to come a long way !!! I complained and complained and asked for them to reconsider, but to no avail. Basically ripping off their customers.

We paid Pod Point £1188 on 13 September 2023 for the installation of an electric charging point for a new plug in hybrid car. They did not come and survey our property and gave limited advice but relied on us to work out a route for the cabling. Because it involved digging under the drive they asked for additional £963.27 money for a subcontractor (groundworks) to dig under our drive (paid on 25 September). The work done by the subcontractor on 4th October was inadequate by their standards and the electrician they sent on 6th October to connect up the point and cabling was unable to do so. The electrician advised us how the cabling should go but we would need to organise our own work for this. We asked for the refund of the £963.27 as we had lost confidence in the subcontractor and would have to organise our own work before the electrician would connect up the point. Pod Point told us that the subcontractor would come back to rectify and the cabling would have to go as we had asked for even though we had no knowledge of the thickness and inflexibility of the cabling so the electrician told us this was not possible. We are still waiting to hear back from Pod Point to the email we wrote on 4th November. We get regular standard emails saying they apologise and are looking into this. It is impossible to get through to them on the telephone and the two previous contacts we had at the company have now left. It seems they are ignoring us and we still have no charge point
