The experience of the initial survey visit could not have been better: Glenn was friendly, attentive, thorough and paid attention to and took note of all of the `special` items/requests (just a large amount of sizeable potted houseplants - including runners on a wall-mounted mesh - and a glasshouse, the panels of which were stored in a degraded cardboard box) and commented reassuringly on how these will be handled. High praise also to Steve's amazing ability and speed at fragile packing and the overall efforts of the team - unfortunately, it was the plants that suffered the most, and we would have appreciated more involvement in their packing and moving. Our overall impression is that quantity (of time and effort) overrides quality of the service, and that what is being said by the estimator in relation to how items will be handled and cared for is a far cry from what actually happens during packing, loading and unloading, and also that little information from the estimation filters through to the moving crew. The feedback requested by the crew at the end of the move only contained a single question about whether they were polite and completed the job in a timely manner; I was able to say yes, but was surprised by that being all the rating possible to give as the lack of care they handled many items with, the lack of respect for certain items and the odd sarcastic comment on the contents of some boxes was disappointing, if not unacceptable.

Schofield’s moved us from a four bed house to a four bed bungalow on the 23rd May. It was truly the best experience we have ever had of a removal agent. They were totally professional from the first contact to the last item of furniture placed in our bungalow. The surveyor, Glenn, was extremely pleasant and very knowledgeable, he conducted a thorough and accurate assessment of our needs and provided a competitive quotation with 24 hours of his visit. They tentatively reserved a van and crew for our proposed removal date and were able to confirm the arrangements as soon as we had exchanged. On the day, the crew arrived 8 am and, after requesting a walk round, got stuck in straight away. They moved large and heavy furniture within the house and removed two extremely heavy stone statutes. They never complained or even raised their voices, they were incredibly respectful throughout, there wasn’t a knock, scrape or scratch to the furniture or property at either end and absolutely no breakages at all. On delivery, the crew foreman did another quick walk around and then proceeded to direct the rest of the team to place items where we wanted them, only referring back to us if he had any doubts. The staff were amazing and we could not recommend them highly enough. We don’t intend to move again, but never say never, if we do, we would only use Schofield’s

Cannot recommend strongly enough Used this company because of personal recommendations and didn't get any other quotes so no comment on comparative costs but service was second to none. Not worth cutting corners with precious possessions Efficient Simple and pleasant When you are moving everything is so stressful but this part was super smooth

Phil, Jem and Fletcher arrived nice and early to start our removal, they took a great amount of care with our furniture etc, nothing was too much problem for them. They worked so hard on what was a very hot day. Following morning they arrived early again , having left at 0500 for a hundred mile plus journey. Again superb handling by the guys, this time with the Boss Matthew instead of Fletcher. They had us all settled in by 1300. We were so impressed and would thoroughly recommend Schofields every time. Well done lads, great job, much appreciated.

Having been badly let down by a different company (supposed to have turned up late am but arrived late pm despite several stressful phone calls to office & then finally turn up in a useless small van) we needed action as our daughter was supposed to be out of her flat the same day. I rang Matthew from Schofields at 5pm thinking they would be closed and he pulled out all the stops to get a Luton van into London for 8.30am the very next day. Absolutely amazing when you think I didn’t really give them much notice. I cannot recommend this company enough. We have used them in the past and recently in February last for our house move from Suffolk to Essex. Absolutely amazing.

R & D Schofields moved me to my new home last week and I can not thank them enough for their help and support. Sam, Jason and Matty were careful, helpful, and above all efficient and managed the whole process with professionalism. The team in the office was also very helpful and this made my whole moving experience a stress free and relaxed process from start to finish. Thank you guys for a brilliant service.

This company is simply outstanding. We were very apprehensive about what we knew would be a difficult move and the other removal companies we approached didn’t seem to get it. Matt was totally professional, reassuring, and realistic. He actually came to our flat to check thoroughly what was needed - all the others did it online. He quoted promptly and planned the work meticulously. We could tell from their whole approach that this company were a number of notches better than the others, plus the fact they’ve been going over a hundred years. Communication was exemplary. They always returned our calls and were flexible as our exchange date kept changing. When it came to doing the actually job, the team worked brilliantly well together - two days of packing and one to load the van. I am so impressed by the care and attention that they put into looking after our things. Everything was carefully and respectfully packed. They worked hard and with great sensitivity. Nothing was lost or broken and they were brilliant at placing things in our new home. Always they worked with friendly good humour and what seemed like superhuman strength. Thank you so much to Jason, Barry, Jem, and Matt. They made a potentially horrid drudge, memorably positive. We’ll always remember Schofield's and highly recommend this brilliant bunch of people.

They could not do the original date due to our late confirmation but the one a week later went faultlessly over the two days. Phil and his crew were pleasant and capable. The three-piece suite would not fit in the first-floor apartment but they remained cheerful despite having to remove doors and feet in an effort to ensure it was not possible. Provided polythene covers when storing it in the garage. Would definitely use them again.

After a last minute need arose to move our offices, all at Schofield's were extremly helpful in the prep, actual move and post storage archiving. Thanks to all involved.

We used Schofield’s to move us from two separate addresses in Colchester, store our belonging for a few months and then deliver items to our new home in Halesworth. Very friendly company and fair competitive rates. Many thanks to Tony Ben and Sam for your efforts and skill manoeuvring large items of furniture into a town house with tricky stair configurations. Also for dismantling and rebuilding existing wardrobe that needed relocating to a lower floor.... your humour and patience was fantastic. If you want a suited, cap tugging service maybe Schofield’s aren’t for you, but if you just want a reliable friendly efficient move then give them a call.
