I found the recommendation to use Scotia Property Heating to be a great choice. They were quick to answer my plea to check a failing central heating and came the next morning first thing as committed. Their diagnosis was as I had feared. Options were discussed there and then which was backed up in writing with proposals and a quote (which was over £1,000 cheaper then a well known company). The date they offered to commence work was reasonable and they stuck to this commitment. I found those I dealt with (Alan, George and Ruth) to be helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They ran their business old-school which gave confidence in their approach, work required/done and communications. On one occasion when my wife thought she could detect a smell of gas, they came immediately and the request to rebalance the water going to central heating v hot water was dealt with expeditiously.

The heating engineer turned up with no PPE whatsoever. Not only that he coughed and spluttered throughout the 30 mins he was in attendance. The problem was not fixed and I was charged £72 for the privilege. Will not use again.

Alan & Michael were very punctual & arrived with shoe covers & masks. Very professional & hardworking in their work. Very tidy and left no mess. All scrap picked up quickly. Top job & very pleased with the end result. A good quote and would recommend to anyone.

This is the first time we have used this trader and we are very pleased to recommend them. They are an efficient, friendly & practical company: they replaced the vertical flue terminal [the cap was missing] for our Potterton Boiler which involved access to the roof and loft, overcoming unforeseen problems with no fuss. One of 4 estimates to upgrade central heating system. Theirs was the most realistic and, more importantly, half the price of the others. They arrived on time, on the date arranged, and worked continuously until the job was completed. All work was installed neatly and to our satisfaction and where our preference of the location of items was requested this was properly followed giving a successful outcome. Both installers, Alan and Michael, were polite and hardworking and completed the work within time, cleaning up and removing rubbish after them. I would unhesitatingly recommend them for any similar heating work.

Scotia Property Heating was one of four companies invited to tender for the removal of my old boiler and replacing it with a new one. The company stood out from the rest from the day I met Alan Fletcher, Director of this long established Edinburgh-based firm and who attended the scoping meeting himself. Unlike the other firms, he listened to my thoughts about installing a combi rather than the previous system boiler and then set about doing a thorough evaluation of the premises and all the technical aspects including meter distance from the property, position of flue etc. His detailed proposal when it arrived a week later, was to install a Worcester Bosch 24i system boiler and a hot water cylinder twice the capacity of the previous one and far more in keeping with the property’s three bathrooms. A combi boiler would not have coped with these demands. The work which was complicated took the two days quoted and Alan and Michael worked solidly throughout. They were thoroughly professional, pleasant, tidied up regularly and made sure everything I had asked for was installed and working efficiently before they left. The quoted price which was £1500 less than two of the other contractors, was exactly what I was invoiced for and I consider the whole experience to be a perfect example of excellent customer service.
