The Air Conditioning Company

I had an extremely disappointing experience with the Air Conditioning Company. Despite completing the installation of two air conditioning units at our property, they caused significant damage (in the region of 2x the cost of the project). I noticed this damage (which appeared to have been hidden by their employees) 3 days after their work was finished. The damaged in question was a cracked skylight which the company’s representatives were working on for several days. It would seem reasonable that if the damage was pre-existing, the company’s employees would have mentioned it not least due to concerns about working while standing on a cracked skylight. Despite emails from the company confirming that one their contractors noticed the damage and the company’s representative promising to cover the cost of replacement, they have continuously delayed and avoided taking responsibility. Additionally, they used a Risk Assessor owned by the company's owner to assess the claim, showing a clear conflict of interest. As other reviewers have mentioned, the family behind this business are aggressive. The owner himself displayed unprofessional behavior, refusing to honor their initial agreement and resorting to harassment tactics. Despite my efforts to find a resolution, including offering to show the damage firsthand, they have been unwilling to cooperate. I advise anyone considering their services to proceed with caution.

As a qualified building surveyor (retired) with over thirty years of residential property experience, I believe that I am qualified to offer a credible opinion. Whilst I am acutely aware that the customer is not always right, rarely have I experienced a business with such a focus on £revenue and an apparently relentless thirst to ‘always be right’. Buying from a small family business (29 employees on last HMRC filing), can present considerable consumer risk. Whilst the sales department use 'the family' to project a caring profile, the reality can be that the consumer has no meaningful way to escalate a complaint beyond ‘the family’. Unfortunately in my circumstance, the veneer of slick selling and glossy vans soon wore thin after placing my £21,500 order. I then met ‘the family’ in a different light. After installation, In my opinion, routine maintenance was eye-wateringly expensive and poor value. My alarm bell rings when a business writes to offer services whilst highlighting, and in my opinion, weaponising against a perceived benefit of having a 10 Year Warranty. ‘If you don't have the service, your warranty will be void’ all sounds like 24 carat gold hand-cuffs to me. In response to the passive-aggressive dialogue around the warranty, I was curious enough to obtain an expert opinion… “So many get-out holes, It’s a Swiss cheese!".. he stated. I decided that the real value of the warranty offered to me was worth far less than the high cost of their services.

We had three air conditioning units installed in our house, one in each bedroom. It was a little while (a few weeks) before a survey could be done for the installation, but communication was always good. Once the survey was done on a site visit (and I had also visited their showroom) a date was quickly fixed for the installation. Malcolm Roberts, who I dealt with, was courteous and helpful, as was everyone on the team, and they were good at explaining what the units could do and what was entailed. When Callum and his team arrived to do the installation, it took the time expected, they were quiet and efficient and considering the nature of the work being done (drilling through walls, etc) very neat — leaving things extremely tidy every day. I had a few quotes given for this work; The Air Conditioning Company cost a little more but I had a good feeling about them and I am extremely happy with the service they provided, and the units. Great to have a cool house!

A big project, which came in at quote and in the estimated time slot despite us making it more difficult for them with what must have been a really annoying request to change things mid-way through. Callum and Aaron were superb- and were really good with the dog too, and the end result is great. Would highly recommend.

I had my second AC unit installed this week by AirConCo in a new garden room. The first was installed in my loft 3 years ago, so a repeat customer tells its own story re on-going support/maintenance. The install team was courteous, considerate of Covid and made sure I was another happy customer. I found cheaper options but was happy to choose quality/service over price.

Off the bat I was impressed with how professional and polite the team was. I still like them, so I'm a bit sad to give negative feedback. The installation was, by the Air Conditioning Company's own admission, poorly done. 1. The electrics were installed incorrectly and tripped the fuse board, requiring repair. Thankfully was quickly done. 2. The holes drilled into the wall were not sealed properly, resulting in moderate water damage to an interior wall. Once the fault was identified, it was quickly repaired. 3. The electrical system was cross-wired with the pumping system. I don't understand the full nature of the fault, but I cannot turn off any individual unit without all five failing. There was initially a quick fix, but now am waiting 2 weeks without follow-up repair for a faulty part. I was pretty happy to refer them to my neighbours, but since installation in March, I haven't gone two weeks without some issue or repair. Overall I think it's still a good company, but it's disappointing.

Pjotr and Stef were tidy, friendly and helpful. They did a great job of our air conditioning installation and I would happily recommend them.

Wanted a just a single air-conditioning unit fitted in our bedroom. Contacted the company who were friendly and helpful. They sent a surveyor who turned up at the appointed time and seemed knowledgeable and was very helpful. Unit fitted on the appointed day with everything progressing very smoothly and the fitters were both friendly and very tidy. Overall I was extremely pleased with the service.

Very happy with the installation service provided by this firm and their team that visited us. They are professional and thoughtful about our situation (e.g., limiting the noise during our baby's lunch nap time). They may not be the cheapest but you get for what you pay for. Highly recommended!

We were delighted by the service provided by The Air Conditioning Company and the products they supply. We are returning customers having used this company previously in a flat where we installed units in two bedrooms that were at the top of the house and were like saunas in the summer, the units make an absolute world of difference. We were so delighted we recently installed another unit in my son's flat. Over the past year, with working from home an additional consideration, it is an investment well worth making to ensure a comfortable environment for sleep and work. The Air Conditioning Company were so helpful from beginning to end. The fit in December was additionally challenging with lockdown but everyone was so helpful. Not only do the units we have keep the rooms cool in summer they are fantastic at giving a heat boost when needed in winter.

Good job, the equipment was installed with the minimum of fuss and the guys cleared up well after themselves. The kit works well, though of course we have to wait for warm weather to really try it out. Recommended.

The company were able to work within our tight time frame to ensure fitting was completed within a week of ordering. The site engineer that attended to survey, and the two engineers that fitted the unit were professional, courteous and left the site clean and tidy.

A really great experience from the initial survey and advice by Gary Woodward through to the customer care from Malcolm Roberts in the office. Our installation was done in two visits as we ordered a 'special unit'. The fitters showed respect for our home and prepared the work areas excellently. The works were completed as specified and we were shown how to use the system before they left. It was great to walk into the room and find they had hoovered and dusted before they left! I would recommend them to anyone who wants air conditioning

The Air Conditioning Company sent round two installers and two electricians. The electricians were finished in a couple of hours. The installation of one standard sized aircon/heat unit and around 10 metres of piping across a small roof extension and down into the garden was completed in two days. The fitter programmed the unit into my internet system and explained how the remote works. The works look faultless, neat and tidy. The company gave an excellent service and I would recommend them highly. The airconditioning has been priceless during this summer's hot spells.

Very impressed with the professionalism and expertise of Pjotr (the installer) assisted by Frank. Very polite and easy to deal with throughout the 2 days, turning up on time and working to a high standard. Tidied up / cleaned after work. Not sure how well their prices compare to others but with the 10 year guarantee and the high quality of work, I haven’t been left with the feeling that the work was over-priced.

We have been dealing with this company for 5 years now and they have consistently been helpful and considerate in both arranging and carrying out maintenance and other works. Office communication is good and the engineers have been unfailingly punctual, friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

An efficient company. All calls, emails etc were replied to promptly. The engineer turned up on time to service our air conditioning units. The work was carried out to a high standard. Refreshing to find such a competent firm. I will use them in the future.

I have been waiting and bettering my husband for years for an air-conditioner and finally we both consented! We contacted this company and they were not the cheapest of the four quotations we went for but we were both impressed with their surveying techniques and the communication at their offices. When my aircon/heater failed to reboot after a power cut, I called in my usual repair firm. They came & advised me that my unit was practically knackered and would cost at best £800 to fix, at the worst, £3000 to replace. I was horrified and asked for a second opinion. The result was the same. But I did not believe these two professional opinions. I called up Aircon Co and did not mention what had been told to me already. Two lovely guys came round and had the unit working within 20 mins, at a cost of £150. The unit was fine, not knackered at all. So thank you for being honest and not taking advantage as others did.

They are very respectful, and on time. Job done without a problem. 4 years in a row and counting.

I originally had an estimate from another company, who messed me about by not replying to letters. I found Air Con who came and gave a quote (which was cheaper than our original quote) and said they would install to a date that suited my wife & Me. The workman that came were friendly courteous and very professional. Yes they would be recommended by me.

I saw a previous Trusted Trader review and asked them to quote on a relatively small job (wall -mounted unit for my son's bedroom. They came next day and I received the price and brochure the following day. Their price was £95 more expensive than another company (one-man trader) but they were offering a 10 warranty as against the other guy's 1 year. They also had all of their insurance documents online and we just felt more comfortable. Good decision. Arrived bang on time and completed the work before the end of the day. They vacuumed the room and left it looking better than my cleaner!

The Air Conditioning Company have been a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Their rep came to assess the room where the air conditioning was to be installed. He was very courteous and promised that the workmen who would do the install would be the same. And amazingly they were! He chose exactly the right air conditioner for our bedroom; it has been great over the summer, keeping the room lovely and cool. The air con has now been serviced and the workmen have been just as polite and efficient as they were when they installed the air con. I really recommend this company.

We chose them because they were quick to answer my questions and give me a very comprehensive quote.. They carried out the work on time and on budget. The engineers were easy to work with (and we had a few on site complications) as well as being neat and tidy. They were not the cheapest but the work was good and it was carried out on budget and on time. Highly Recommended.
