The Garage Door Company Limited

The Garage Door Company (Luton) kept changing it’s price. I was first quoted £1200, and then a week later I was told that the price had gone down to £1000 in a sale but I would need to place the order that day. Despite, this pressure selling the garage door was still on sale a week later for £1000, but another week later it went up to £1300 because it included two optional vision slats. This week, I received an email quote with a price of £1500. When I asked to see the garage door in their showroom, I was told that they did not have a garage door for me to see in operation, but I was welcome to come and have a look at a sample of the door material. Communication was really poor. Phone calls and emails were not returned quickly. Different people gave different prices, and different information. In the end, I placed an order with another garage door installer with a fixed price and better communication.

This company installed our door in December 2015, which didn't go to plan and with delays, I still believe it is wound the wrong way round. During lockdown our garage door failed to fully open, I contacted the company who came out the next day after paying a £120.00 call out fee, they sprayed the motor with WD40,10 mins work, then left. As we have no courtesy door and having encountered this problem it made me think how I should open the door with the winding handles I had. I telephoned the company 'where is the hole to put the spigot?', a simple question, and then sent a photo of the fascia. I was told I had covered the hole up with the 'plastic strip' at the side. After paying a joiner to take the strip off which is actually oak cladding and not finding anything we removed the fascia cover to find the hole is in fact under the fascia. If the manager had bothered to look at the photo I had sent he could have seen it quite clearly, saving me the expense of a joiner and a wasted morning. All this company are interested in is your money. Don't waste your time contacting 'customer services' you will be ignored, don't bother contacting the directors who have both ignored the letter I sent with my feedback. This is how you are treated. I did explain my reason for asking such a simple question which was due to my husband having dementia and now he can't remember how to open the door with the winding handle. Obviously not interested in helping in anyway.

We discussed a new garage door for our unit with this company. Once we'd received a quote we briefly confirmed the order, before requesting a cancellation 20 minutes later due to a sudden change in circumstance. We were charged over £100 just to cancel the order and have our money sent back to us. I have no idea how they feel they can justify this charge. Money transfer is free. It takes about 20 seconds. It's just a ridiculous way of taking people's money. I warned them that bad reviews would be an inevitable consequence of this policy, gave them the chance to just give us our money back, they felt this was a smarter course of action.

Ordered and paid for double garage doors with a guarantee date as needed these for a set time, all promised when money handed over, chased and chased till after a month over due garage doors put on, not correctly lots of issues, and not complete (full frame trim missing) requested them be looked several times, fitters being sent who advised it wasn’t their job but they had been just sent anyway! Total lack of customer care. Non responsive. Still waiting for trim which has been ordered now several times! It’s a total disgrace a large company can actually get away with this. I never put complaint on social media etc but this is not fair that we have had and are still enduring this kind of service at such a high cost to us. Please avoid using this company.
