The Company is owned by Andrew and Charlie Slater who between them have over 40 years’ experience in the building industry, over 20 of these specifically working with insurers on leak detection and water damage. We therefore come equipped with a thorough knowledge of the construction of different types of properties and the effect that can have on leak detection and dealing with the results of a leak.

My first point was with Charlie, after completing an online form, Charlie asked several questions relating to my initial problem and my request for a full survey with report. I wanted to identify any leaks under a sub floor in the kitchen area (there was a small puddle under the floor boards) and also some condensation issues in varies areas of the house. I had other surveys to identify possible damp, condensation or leak issues but non which was so thorough than the one undertaken by the Leak Team. The surveyor, Andrew identified the leak, which was coming from a waste pipe from a ground floor toilet, showed me evidence via video footage, gave me advice regarding type of proffessional to call. He went onto survey the rest of the house pointing to the few areas of condensation how to resolve the issues and where there needed to have repointing work carried out. The resulting report was comprehensive with photos and recommendations. Well worth the £714 paid. They even offered to liaise with the proffessional if required and show the video. Also my floorboards were put back and the place left tidy. I have now commenced work as per Andrews recommendations. I would recommend the Leak Team, they have succeeded where others have failed.

We had to identify a leak for a client but this would have involved digging up a very large driveway. To save us from doing that, I contacted the Leak Team and spoke to Charlie. Charlie was very clear on whether they could help and what could be expected. Andrew arrived on time and was very quick in detecting the leak. The report that was issued will help us to locate the leak and fix it with minimum disturbance for the client.

Leak in the Pipework of our Central Heating System

We had leak in the pipework of our central heating system. This caused the system to lose pressure resulting in the central heating boiler shutting down. The only way to keep the boiler functioning was to re-pressurize the system. Our central heating engineer suggested that he could lift flooring throughout the ground floor of the property to see if he could “spot” the leak. I thought this was a rather a haphazard way of detecting the leak bearing in in mind that we had a lot of expensive hard wood flooring and new carpeting on this floor of the house I then contacted The Leak Team by email, and they replied to my enquiry the same day despite it been made between Christmas and New Year. My initial contact was with Charlie who asked many questions about the leak. They then agreed that they could attempt to detect the leak. They clearly set out their terms and conditions and daily fee for this work. We decided a date of January 2nd, 2024, which was quick bearing in mind we had just ended the holidays On the day their engineer Andrew arrived exactly at the agreed time and commenced work. He explained exactly what he was going to do, which without going into too much detail included draining down the system and filling it with a gas which enabled him to detect the leak. He then made a temporary repair to the leak which was successful. I can't praise The Leak Team enough for there total professionalism in solving a worrying situation for us.

I was very impressed with the service that I received from The Leak Team who investigated a water leak within the structure of a multi storey apartment building. My initial contact was with Charlie, who was very efficient in providing advice and arranging a suitable appointment. Andrew Slater then visited the property and within a short period of time he was able to identify the design and layout of the complex drainage system, most of which was obscured. He then used a borescope camera to locate water leaking from a cracked section of waste pipe. This was completely hidden behind kitchen units, several of which he removed. Andrew was pleasant to deal with and very knowledgeable. I received a detailed report and recommendations the same day. An excellent service.

We had been experiencing boiler pressure loss, with the cause not obvious. From first contact to the end of the work, the service I received from The Leak Team was exemplary. Initial calls and emails to understand the nature of our issue and to help with visit preparation were clear, helpful and understandable. The engineer attended very quickly and as per agreed appointment details. Our property was treated with great respect and only very necessary floor lifting activity undertaken. As the leak was difficult to trace, a number of techniques were used, each being well described and explained by the engineer. The engineer returned for a follow up visit the next day and was able to confirm and expose the leak source. The engineer ensured the house was left as had been found. A full and comprehensive report, with photos and video, was received that same day. All in all, an excellent service and I have no hesitation in recommending The Leak Team.

He even waited until the plumber arrived to see if he could help. His report, using many photos, was very comprehensive and was sent to the insurers to help speed the claim process. The leak engineer arrived on time, was extremely thorough, and spent the entire day identifying where the central heating pipes were under the floor and then, after having to dismantle a cupboard and remove a radiator, drained the heating system and filled it with gas so he could find the leak. He then spent a good few hours listening for the leak and using a gas detector. He found the leak and then spent a considerable amount of time putting the heating system and the house back to how it was before he started. No mess left at all. I received a highly detailed report on the investigation the following day and got my usual plumber to excavate where the leak engineer had identified the leak. The leak was exactly where the leak engineer said it was. I recommend this firm very highly indeed. if you have a central heating system leak and don't want to have someone dig holes all over the floor give them a ring. And the insurance company paid for the investigation.

We had a water stain appear on our ceiling. I contacted this company on Monday, and they came out on Friday and identified the source of the leak. Communication was excellent, they were very quick to respond to my messages and provided a clear explanation of what they could do in advance. Andrew, the engineer who visited, was very professional and provided a detailed expert assessment of the situation. I highly recommend their service; it's not cheap, but in a situation like this it's well worth getting the experts in.

I was blown away with the Leak Team's service! As well as being friendly and professional they were incredibly accurate. They were able to pinpoint my CH leak without lifting a single floorboard. Once the leak was found they were able to carry out a repair with minimal disruption to my brand new kitchen floor. Andrew, the engineer, even had a look at some other issues with my CH system while we waited for the boiler to heat up. I'd definitely recommend the Leak Team to anyone who is keen to find their leak without taking their house to pieces!

The Leak Team were able to find the leak in the central heating system after an initial assessment by another heating engineer was incorrect. The whole procedure was carefully explained and done as agreed on the schedule and to the budget I expected. We have had a persistent, but undetectable leak on our central heating for some time, which we and our heating engineer had been unable to locate, because it wasn't visible anywhere. We were recommended The Leak Team by our heating engineer following success with another of his customers. Prior to The Leak Team visit, Charlie Slater provided us with detailed instructions on how to measure the leak, the minimum size it needed to be, preparation prior to the visit, the cost of the visit, etc. Andrew Slater arrived on time as expected. He was with us most of the day due to the complex nature of our central heating. Following the mapping of our pipes with thermal imaging, he was able to locate the leak using gas detection. Inevitably it's under the stone floor! Andrew left the place as he found it and provided a detailed report after the event. The final invoice was as expected. Would certainly recommend The Leak Team.

The ‘ghostbusters’ of leaks!

After 2 failed visits from plumbers, and no heating to hot water over Xmas, in desperation I turned to Google and found the Leak Team. They are like a ghostbusters for finding mysterious leaks. Andrew attended on a Sunday, Not something any other plumber would have done, and spent 3 hours with his gizmos finding the leak causing pressure loss from our boiler. I could have cried with relied to have heat and hot water again during freezing winter weather. As a bonus, we found out we could claim for ‘trace and access’ of the leak on our buildings insurance. This was top notch professional service from start to finish and included a tutorial for my husband and extra info to give to our plumbers complete with diagrams. Charlie also extremely knowledgeable and asked detailed questions prior to the visit. This business provides a niche and specialist service and they are superb at their job. Can't recommend them highly enough.

We had a leak from one of the central heating pipes (copper) under our Bungalow. The floor is a solid screed type floor. I had decided that it would be almost impossible to find using conventional methods ( ie: Engaging a plumber to dig up where he/she might think it is?). So after much deliberation and searching online opted for The Leak Team. Boy am I glad that I did. Charlie was very professional and told me what to do to try and determine the problem. This done, I was a bit worried about the wording of the procedures that had to be carried out prior to their arrival but a quick call from Charlie and my initial fears were dispelled. Andrew arrived promptly at the time and date stated. He used a thermal imaging device to determine the exact location of the leak and even dug down to show it to me. We have since had the leak repaired by a local plumber and all is back to normal. I paid for Andrew's visit at the already agreed price stated on their draft invoice before he left the premises. What a wonderful and hassle-free experience it has been, I cannot recommend The Leak Team enough.

I'd highly recommend The Leak Team; they did an excellent job. I had a leak of water from my tenement flat into the flat below, but the source of the leak was not obvious. I decided to use a specialist service rather than a plumber to avoid unnecessary damage to my flat in tracing the leak. After researching online, I chose The Leak Team. Andrew arrived as arranged. He found the source of the leak very quickly and explained the problem very clearly. He even checked the mains riser in the flats above and below and made some recommendations. His comprehensive report was emailed to me later that day and I forwarded it to my insurance company. My experience of the company from first contact with Charlie to final report was very positive.

Very pleased. We have a concrete floor covered with Karndean tiles fixed with latex adhesive. We had a bad leak in the CH system but no water appearing over the floor. The Leak Team used a number of devices and eventually located the leak by pressuring the system with gas and using a detector. We had the floor excavated where they said, and they were spot on. This enabled us to get The Heating Company (also a trusted trader) in to repair. Very efficient service and Andrew who did the work is very knowledgeable and personable. Delighted. Point to note; locating the leak was covered under our building insurance (less excess).

I contacted the team as I have recently had a central heating system installed and the pressure is falling. The team gave me advice on how to diagnose the reason for this as my engineer had suggested re-piping the system only. I live in Dorset, although the team did offer to visit me but not viable. This is one thoroughly professional outfit. Our boiler had been losing pressure for some time and we managed to find a company who referred us to The Leak Team and within half an hour Charlie was on the telephone to us spelling out what service they could provide which we immediately accepted. This was quickly followed up with a comprehensive email documenting everything we needed to know and do prior to Andrew’s visit. Charlie insisted that, should we have any questions, they would always be available to help. Andrew arrived at our home in Chesterfield at 8.30am having driven down from Newcastle, a journey of getting on for three hours. Andrew is a very friendly guy, easily approachable and very, very knowledgeable. He did a comprehensive survey of all the downstairs rooms mainly using his thermal imaging camera. Two leaks were detected. A full comprehensive survey report would be emailed later that day. Andrew then gave us advice as to engaging a local plumber and what exactly he should be asked to do. Andrew also reiterated that, should the plumber require any guidance in interpreting the report, we should not hesitate to give the plumber his mobile number. It was mid-afternoon by the time he left on his long journey home which would have equated to a twelve hour day. That evening we received the report from Charlie saying not to hesitate to contact her if we had any queries. In a word, nothing is too much trouble for them. Get their help if required, with confidence!

I had a leak which I suspected was somewhere on the ground floor. The trouble was it could've been anywhere on the group floor and there no obvious signs where. I didn't even know where the pipes ran. The Leak Team found the leak and were able to make a temporary repair without having to tear up all the oak flooring. Really knowledgeable and helpful people. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again (but I hope I won't have to!)

I highly recommend The Leak Team. Andrew located the leak in our hot water domestic system under the floorboards in our kitchen. Although the kitchen floor covering had to be taken up, without him we may have had to remove all the wood flooring. He was very professional and helpful. He went above and beyond what he needed to, liaising with the team who were sent out to dry our property. Both Andrew and Charlie were really helpful and we are very thankful, at last the leak has been located.

Very quick response, professional and courteous from initial phone call through to leaving after the leak was detected. Found the suspected leak within 2 hours, the leak was then confirmed by gas and microphone detecting methods. This enable the area to be narrowed down and an endoscope was then used to further narrow down the area. Then based on Andrew's recommendation on the position, a hole was drilled through a tile to allow for the endoscope to be placed closer to the suspected leak. The leak was approx. 30 cm from the hole and visible on the screen. Leak was fixed by British Gas. The alternative without The Leak Team was to lift each of the downstairs floors; this would have been a major job and very costly. The leak was under the floor that would have been lifted last. I would highly recommend the leak team.

From the beginning they were friendly and professional. they took the time to explain everything carefully from the start. Andrew even left detailed instructions for our plumber on how best to fix the pipe. Really impressed. The report I received was really clear as well, and because Andrew had taken the time to explain the problem to me I was able to explain properly to the loss adjuster.

From first call to pinpointing the leak, The Leak Team provided a swift, friendly, supportive and wholly professional service. It is rare to find a company that provides a knowledgeable person to take initial calls. And although we live in South Wales, an extremely experienced technician arrived from Newcastle within 24 hours. We were kept fully informed as to what would happen and how it would be done and, using state of the art equipment the leak in our ancient and convoluted heating system (all of which is buried in a solid concrete floor) was traced and pinpointed. That took five hours. Two plumbers had previously spent two days failing to find the leak and recommended we replace the entire system. Thanks to The Leak Team, and after replacing the faulty joint, our system is back to full efficiency once more.

The Leak Team attended my property to find the cause of a pressure loss problem in my boiler. This was done with a minimum of fuss using a variety of different devices in order to pinpoint the location of the leaking central heating pipe. Andrew talked me through the whole operation which really helped in understanding not only the problem but different ways of rectifying it.
