I used Timberwise owing to their Which accreditation and good reviews. I had some woodworm in the garage and following a detailed and helpful survey report, I accepted their quotation. Their woodworm treatment was carried out rigorously and supported by an extensive underwritten guarantee. Although not the cheapest quote, I felt that Timberwise provided a better quality quote and service, in contrast to other contractor's, one of whom even charged a fee for a less convincing report.

We had a concern about damp in a basement flat hallway cupboard. A visit was arranged for a free survey to see if remedial work would be needed. Dan arrived a little early which was great and advised that there was no evidence of water penetration and that the issue was one of condensation caused by cold walls and lack of ventilation. It was really helpful to have our minds set at rest and we can deal with the situation without the fear that there may be a serious damp problem. The service was prompt and professional. Steven Buick and team at Timberwise Scotland are fantastic! I contacted Timberwise and within 5days my property and wet rot problem was survey and fixed. Structural floor joists were affected by wet rot, which required to be sistered with new bespoke sized joists and treated. The work was carried out safely, tidily, and to a very high professional standard by Alan and Stuart. Shortly after I received my guarantee of 20years for the work carried out. We have had some rising damp in the basement of our Victorian house. Timberwise was referred to us by an experienced Chartered Surveyor that we know, and we were really happy we followed his recommendation. The team was very professional, friendly, polite and tidy from the survey through to installation of DPC. Finishing with the plastering was excellent and was truly an art of work! We can recommend Timberwise. In particular: - good coordination between colleagues (office staff, surveyor, technicians) - good customer care - clear documentation - prompt responses to emails - turned up on time - project finished on time We found Timberwise through Which Trusted Traders, as we had suspected dry rot. From our initial online request for a survey, to Ian’s thorough survey and report, the clear quote, coordination on dates, right through to the rot treatment and works we felt we were receiving a good service. It was good to have Ian visit again at the start of works and to run through all our questions and concerns with us. The technicians, Andy and then Chris, were very hard-working and explained what they were doing at each stage, which we appreciated. We had a very good experience with Timberwise. The surveyor Ian was able to fit us in for a survey quickly and was very responsive to emails and organising a date for our work. We had Dave complete the work in our property, he was friendly, efficient and polite. Dave was respectful of us working from home and around our two cats. Timberwise from start to finish were excellent. This is a professional company with customer service at its heart. We had an issue with damp in our house. Timberwise sent out one of their own surveyors to review the situation. The surveyor explained what the issue was, and a full survey report was received within a week. There was no obligation to proceed with the remedial work and no 'hard sell'. After reading previous reviews we already had confidence in Timeberwise and took the decision to proceed with the work. The work was carried out on the date it was arranged and was to high standard. All mess was cleaned up. It can be a minefield when trying to arrange works such as damp issues, but Timberwise took all the stress away. I would highly recommend Timberwise.

Contacted Timberwise to advise on a potential dry rot problem in our attic. We were worried about this as one other builder (NOT Timberwise) who came to look at the problem quoted us for nothing less than the complete replacement of rafters and roof at £50k+, citing unsolvable dry rot and woodworm problems. After sending some pictures, Jenna at Timberwise replied quickly that we didn’t have a dry rot problem at all, and that it was just a matter of improving ventilation in the area. She sent us great and convincing documentation from the Timberwise site. All free of charge! This put our minds at ease, and obviously saved us loads of money, time and hassle. Highly recommended, actual experts at what they do (unlike some others out there!)

This is the first time I have used Timberwise in a domestic capacity having used them previously for commercial works. I contacted timberwise by telephone and left a message and also filled in the website enquiry. I was pleased to receive a response the next working day to my email enquiry and a return call the following day to my meassage! Much more proactive than their competitors that I am still awaiting a call back from. Jenna who handled my enquiry was super efficient in arranging the survey with the current owners of the property and keeping me informed. Survey was booked for a date within 3 weeks of my initial enquiry. If the quality of the survey and post survey experience is as good as what I have received to date I will be most impressed by Timberwise.

Used Timberwise on recommendation from homebuyers, we found them easy to contact and with a friendly call handler who was really helpful, nothing was too much trouble and the process was explained in detail. Anouska really put our minds at rest and had a friendly manner when contacted. Booking the work was at our convenience, and the tradesman's name was given to us in advance so we knew who was to attend. Overall the service was unsatisfactory and did not meet expectations, given the cost. The positives: the back office were very responsive, accessible and helpful in resolving issues and communicating updates. Unfortunately, the fact that they had to resolve a number of issues is a testament to service received. There were a number of delays which meant a job that was supposed to be 1-2 weeks took six weeks. Work had to be redone and messages repeated a number of times as the team changed over the course of the job. Finally, the work itself was compromised requiring additional guarantees.

Do not touch with a barge pole
They lost us a mortgage because their report was incorrect, saying there was rising damp, when in fact the roof leaked and damaged the plaster. They do not use the appropriate materials for older breathable properties. They wanted to drill a hole through the floor to check if there was a damp proof course, therefore breaching the damp proof course!!! And a variety of other things I would never recommend them

Following my survey I used Timberwise for some recommended works. From telephoning, during covid through to inspection by Dean and works carried out by Chris, everything ran perfectly smooth. All persons I spoke to went over and above. Dean came out for further inspection, me thinking I had additional concerns. Nothing was too much trouble. Chris carried out the works with the least possible upheaval and cleared/cleaned where possible at the end. Chris even helped me locate a leak from my boiler - thank you. Timberwise provided a prompt free survey to explain the cause of and cure for the damp problem in our kitchen. A follow-up call was needed to generate a quotation, but when it came it was very clear as to the scope, terms and price. The work was scheduled within 7 days after the quotation and was executed on time with the minimum of fuss. The crew were friendly and professional and caused the least dirt and disruption one could reasonably expect. The plaster is now dry in the area where previously it was damp, so the signs are good that the problem is solved.

After the survey of the house I was buying recommended an investigation into internal timber decay, Timberwise Bristol surveyed the whole house and recommended woodworm treatment for the ground floor. They arranged the survey with the previous owners and delivered their report promptly. Once I had moved in, they were able to do the treatment on the day after, with the surveyor Tim visiting again as well, to look at an additional area of concern that I had not flagged in the original request. Both Mat and Tim were very helpful and accommodating, giving me useful advice and guidance - also going the extra mile helping me with woodworm in a piece of my furniture. I now have my 20-year guarantee for the floors as well as piece of mind. As well as Mat and Tim, all the office staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful. Timberwise have completed rot treatment in my flat and in my neighbour's adjoining flat. They were required to strip out and treat the rot, then re-plaster walls and replace boards. They left both flats in perfect condition ready for painting. All done on time and according to their quote. They were faced with a difficult situation as they had to work round a stressed customer in residence. They handled this with a level of thoughtfulness and diplomacy for which I am grateful. I have had a positive experience with Timberwise and their Bristol office. Dan Roderick has done an excellent job and was a pleasure to work with. Georgina from the office deserves a knighthood for patiently taking many calls from me every week in the run up to the work and being very flexible around my project's needs. The only area for improvement I would highlight is the communication in advance of the work. The instructions seemed well geared for furnished properties, but not for renovation projects such as mine. Unfortunately it was not clearly communicated that my sink would need removing in advance of the work, nor that my electrics would all need to be boxed and chased. This caused a lot of upheaval and frantic phone calls during the week of the work, and very nearly caused all the damp work to be postponed which would have had big knock on impacts for the rest of the building work scheduled. Other than this, I am very happy with the work and price.

Mark initially provided sound advice from the Basement, Pump and Sump Company. Some companies were not reputable! The job turned out to be more complex and time consuming requiring six hours extra labour from two people which was not charged. Mark and Nick are incredibly hardworking, explaining tasks and totally trustworthy. Timberwise thankfully managed to fit new flooring and joists at less than a week's notice so the kitchen can be fitted tomorrow. James in the office very helpful. I just wish every tradesman/company was this good. Quality of work was superb. The pump was initially noisy but Nick fixed this.

Timberwise recently completed damp proof treatment to a section of our hall wall. I was apprehensive about the potential mess and damage to our newly polished wood floor. I needn’t have worried as Steve immediately reassured me. The floor had a robust and full covering preventing any damage and the work was carried out in the outlined timescale. The area was kept tidy and left clean at the end of each day. Steve was very respectful of our home. He took great care in removing the skirting board in one piece and the completed job is very neat. As part of purchasing our property we had a survey undertaken that raised a number of points. Through recommendation we contacted Timberwise who under took a complete review of the structural survey and advised on what needed to be done and what was actually satisfactory and required no action. This was completed quickly and the cost estimate provided. A chemical damp proofing course was required which also required plaster work, was was to be undertaken, what was need for preparation was all clear and booking was straight forward even when we had to change the date due to completion. The chap turned up right on time every day, measured all carpets etc. were covered, undertook the work required, kept me advised and was social. At the end of the first day the area was cleaned and all left tidy and he checked that I was happy prior to leaving on the last day. I don't know how value relates to others but I was happy with the costs advised and the information provided when reviewing the quotation.

We have had a really hard and upsetting time with Timberwise Liverpool

They started a job removing dry rot from our downstairs living room in early 2017. They replaced part of a sash window frame, multiple floorboards, and re-plastered a quarter of the room. As well as treating the rot. We had problems with them from start to finish. The rot has now been found again in the skirting boards in the same area where they conducted the work. Here are the problems we had with them: 1. They cost a lot of money compared to other companies 2. They took nearly 2 months to complete a job which should've been done in 1 week 3. Days would go by without anyone coming to the house and the job half finished 4. We were rarely kept updated on the progress of the work and we had to call them to find out what was going on / what the delay was 5. One day we came home in the pouring rain and found the window was boarded up, no one had told us this was going to happen 6. After calling up to complain we had someone sent round to complete some demanding manual jobs and they sent someone with a broken arm! 7. We found rot back within 18 months in the same area 8. They were going to charge us £160 just to come out and have a look 9. Their surveyor came out and spent 2 minutes looking at it, he failed to assess the walls, windows and floor boards 10. He said that they had failed to properly finish the job 11. He spoke to a director who then refused to honour our guarantee (which we had paid a substantial amount for) and refused to finish the job 12. Now we are left with an incomplete job, visible dry rot in the room, a guarantee which is worthless, and have already had to pointlessly redecorate the room once which cost us £500 13. After complaining they said they would come and see the work again with the complaints team in 3 weeks time! 14. They then agreed to come sooner, reviewed the work and once again accepted no responsibility for the incomplete job I am now awaiting an independent surveyor to come and review the work and I’m going to liase with the ombudsman. I would wholeheartedly not recommend this company to anyone

We have experienced Rising damp in our old property causing visible damage to walls. We contacted Timberwise for a free survey and quote which easily led to a surveyor to our property for a free survey which was carried on the affected area but we asked for a survey on the rest of the lower floor and this was also agreed. The surveyor was both friendly and efficient. A comprehensive report followed quickly and advised remedial work. This was similar to quotes form another company. Appointments for this work to be carried out was easily made. Steven Wade was the Timberwise engineer. He wa punctual very friendly and communicative. His work was caused unexpectedly little disruption and noise and very little mess. The end result looks excellent. Six weeks for the plaster to dry and then we can paint thee wall directly which due to the quality of the plastering will be all that is needed. Overall excellent efficient and very friendly service. Moved into our new home last October with what seemed very little to do...June this year almost put my foot through the flooring in a bedroom. Carpet was lifted to find evidence of infestation. Searched the market and contacted Timberwise (UK) Ltd based on their existing customer reviews. A very educational phone all revealed what our bedroom was infested with and a suitable treatment progress was presented. A survey appointment was booked and on time the surveyor knocked on the door. He carefully explained what could be seen, what needed to be done and how long the whole process was to take. The surveyors knowledge was in depth and appeared to have great experience in infestations and the treatment required. Within a week and a half we received a quote which we were happy with, especially the guarantee, which I phoned up to find out the details of the guarantee (thinking it would be very limited) I was pleasantly surprised to hear that a full 20 years guarantee is applied to all treatment and work carried out. After accepting the quote and booking a 'treatment slot' we only had a few weeks to wait until the engineer knocked on our door at the time specified. Very friendly staff (surveyor and engineer) both new their job inside out and made my wife feel comfortable whilst they carried out the work. Great job done. Great service with a friendly nature. After having spent the last two years with a house occupied by workmen painting and plastering we had the unfortunate experience of finding penetrative damp damaging the newly plastered walls. The news was that we had to have the walls taken back to the brick once again, injected and re plastered not something we were keen to envisage. From meeting with the surveyor, arranging timescales with the office and then having the work carried out, there cannot be a more professional, energetic, polite, caring and clean team employed by any of their competitors in the UK. What we were dreading didn't come to fruition. The team were most amenable and a pleasure to have in our home leaving no mess, and ensuring that our fears were unfounded. We would use Timberwise again and have no problem recommending them to others. Fantastic team!

Do not use Timberwise. They may provide cheap surveys but there's a reason. Following a survey completed by our mortgage provider, they highlighted timber and damp issues in the roof. We were recommended to get a specialist survey completed. The only reason we had the survey done was to get information on the roof. Timberwise provided us with a report but had failed to inspect the roof. They stated that the roof wasn't accessible. The roof is accessible as the first surveyor wouldn't have been able to highlight the issues if so. I then spoke with Andrew Pemberton who is the charted construction manager. He assured me I would receive a full refund. This was a month ago now. I still haven't received a refund and they have ignored all communication. We also received a quote from them regarding the damp in the downstairs of the property coming to around £3500. We got another contractor in to inspect the property. For the same piece of work, they quoted £1700.

We needed a basement kitchen and dining area damp-proofed. Of all the companies we contacted, Timberwise stood out - Keith and Connie were highly responsive to a large number of follow-up questions, detailed in their plans, and pragmatic in their proposals (their costs were broadly in line with the other providers). Onsite, Chris was great - helped us prep the space, turned up every day on time and cleaned up at the end of the day, went the extra mile to finish by the date we'd agreed when our walls turned out to be at the more challenging end of the spectrum, and was cheerful throughout. They also organised a specialist joiner to deal with our stairs and he not only did a great job with them, but also happily replaced some floorboards that turned out to be rotten. All in all, a very positive experience and we will be getting them back to do more work.

I contacted Timberwise back in March 2017, Craig came out, inspected the property and created a great report. It took until October before I was ready for work to begin, I contacted the team arranged a date and they were so helpful! I realised I may have had damp in another room - they happily obliged to check that room as well whilst carrying out the DPC on the original room. Phone calls at each stage to provide updates, Carl & Craig couldn't do enough to help. Highly recommend.

We have had a tanking project done by Timberwise on our basement which is tanked. All initially appeared professional although they did spill something on our carpet during the process which caused a huge stain which couldn't be removed. Despite initially claiming it was water, they refunded me £60 for the ruined carpet. A few months after the waterproof render was applied the plaster blew badly, and we had to pay for a surveyor (employed by Timberwise) to come and give an opinion as to whether or not this was covered by guarantee. This cost £180. As I expected, his opinion was that this work was not due to the poor workmanship of Timberwise, and came up with lots of excuses as to why. Please don't use this company, as you will lose a lot of money when things go wrong.

Do not use Timberwise for surveys. I booked them to conduct a survey of a leak (for a claim against the owner of the flat above mine) and some other damp issues in December. They asked for £200 in advance then turned up late, I had to chase for the report which took two weeks (instead of 4-5 working days), The survey turned out to include a number of inaccuracies (which I had to ask to have corrected 3 times before they got it right), and when I complained the office manager was incredibly rude and argumentative. She even suggested that I should not have engaged them for a survey for a legal claim (even though I made it very clear to them why I wanted the survey). So basically... I paid £200 for them to try to sell their services to me (which they did very badly!). Also, I raised my concerns with their MD and it took over a week and 4 emails before I eventually got an apology. At one point they did offer to repay the £200 and I accepted but judging them by their previous form - I'm going to have a long wait...

Called Timerwise in to survey a small damp problem thought to be rising damp and thought to require Silicone Injection treatment. Exremely professional surveyor identified the problem as not being rising damp but condensation and provided a DIY anti-fungal treatment form £52. This saved us spending about £300 on Injection. They lost that bit of trade as a result of being thorough and truthful, which is why I feel they deserve recommendation. Their price if they'd done Injection treatment was also less than another quote we'd had.
